Chapter 98: Chapter 98

*Leonora*

The day had finally arrived and I was a mess.

I had avoided Jax and even cancelled our dance rehearsals claiming that I was feeling under the weather and needed time to rest. It gave me enough time to rest and relax ahead of the coronation.

"I cannot wait until Jax sees you." Bethany said as she sipped from her flute and I did the same. There were girls all over my room trying to get everything ready. I was so happy that Bethany planned everything and I didn’t have to be screaming my head down like she had been doing all morning.

I made a promise in my head that I wasn’t going to let Bethany do anything for her wedding. She had literally acted the role of a sister, best friend and even my mother and I couldn’t be happier that I had her.

"Give me a second I need to see the hall. I’ll send Devon up to see you." Bethany said as she rushed back out of the room. A lady was making my hair and another was trying to apply make up to my face. I had given her strict instructions that I wanted something very light.

After a few minutes, Devon walked into the room. "Where is our Queen?" He asked in a sing song voice. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you." I forced out of my mouth as the makeup artist was trying to put on my lipstick. "Have you seen Jax?"

"He’s getting ready with Micah. He was also asking about you." He said and I smiled. I didn’t know if it was a lie or he was telling the truth. Jax hadn’t really bothered me since the last time he tried to speak to me. He just stayed on his own and I was happy that he was smart enough to know when to let things go.

By the time they were done with my makeup, Bethany had come back to my room. She and Devon were going over the plans for the wedding slash coronation while I just sat aimlessly on my seat and sipping wine out of the champagne flute.

"Time to try on the dress. Everyone excuse us." Bethany announced and all the girls filtered out of the room. Devon placed a kiss on Bethany’s cheek and left the room for just us. I dropped my flute on the table and stood up, making sure to stretch my body as I had been seated for hours.

Bethany picked up the dress and held it down for me. I took off the satin robe I had been wearing and stepped into the dress. She quickly pulled it up and moved to the back to properly lace the corset and tie it for me.

"If I were attracted to girl, I don’t think I would let you walk out of this room. You look so gorgeous." Bethany complimented me earning a hearty laughter. "I’m very sure Jax would stop the wedding just to take you to his room and-"

"Okay, okay, okay. I get the point." I said, waving her off. "I can’t wait for today to be over. The amount of mingling will be crazy and I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk in those heels all day."

"You worry too much. I have a backup plan. I got you some flats. They’re already in the back room of the hall. If you ever feel overwhelmed, you can just go there and take a breather." Bethany said and I hugged her. "There’s also going to be a food station there and a loveseat for you to lay down and rest. As much as I want you to enjoy your wedding, we shouldn’t forget that you’re going to be a mama. Your body will need rest at some point."

"Bethany. You are my soul mate. I love you so much." I said as she rubbed my back. I could feel tears gather in my eyes and I blinked them back trying to hold it. "I’m going to go above and beyond during your own wedding."

"You know I’m a perfectionist. I’m not sure if I’ll let you handle my wedding on your own." She said as I smacked her arm. I knew she wouldn’t let me but I also wouldn’t let her lift a finger. She deserved more than a wedding planner. I needed to plan an elaborate gift for her that would show her how much I cared about her. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

There was a knock on the door causing Bethany to let go of me and walk away. I turned to look at the mirror admiring how I looked. I couldn’t believe the person that stood in front of me.

It was another version of me. The version of me that was going to get married. The version of me that was going to be a mother soon. The version of me that was stronger and braver but a lot more emotional. This version of me wasn’t angry or carrying the guilt of Noah’s death.

This version of me wanted to be happy and I was going to make myself happy. I didn’t care if Jax wanted to separate or not. I had Bethany and Devon with me and they loved and cared about me like a family should. That was all that mattered to me.

"Baby, it’s time." Bethany announced to me and I turned to her. "I have a handkerchief in case you want to cry and you and Jax are going to do first look in the hall. I wanted to get his reaction because you look stunning." She said as I walked to her. "You’re now going to be a queen!"

"Promise me you’ll be by my side." I said and I took her hands in mine. "Promise me you won’t leave me."

"Baby, we have been best friends, sisters since the day we met. I’ll never ever leave you." She said as we walked out of the room.

"Time to get married."
