Chapter 97: Chapter 97

*Leonora* ๐•—๐ซ๐šŽ๐—ฒ๐˜„๐ž๐•“๐ง๐• ๐˜ƒ๐•–๐ฅ.๐œ๐š˜๐š–

I stood in front of the floor length mirror, looking at myself in my wedding dress. It was a massive corset ball gown with a sweet heart neckline and small straps off the shoulder. The dress was adorned with jewels all around and a very delicate lace.

When Bethany had shown me pictures, I knew this was going to be my dress and I couldnโ€™t see myself in any other thing. Another thing that added to it was the fact that it hid my belly. Iโ€™ve been waking up some mornings feeling bloated and heavy.

"Is there any shawl I can use to cover my shoulders or something?" I asked and Bethany looked up from the back of my dress. She was helping me lace the corset so that I could get a proper fitting.

"No. Youโ€™re meant to show off your mark to everyone." She said as she finally tied up the corset. She took a step back and I examined the dress. I turned around and tried to sway in the dress. It felt a bit heavy but I didnโ€™t care. This was my dream dress. I didnโ€™t want anything else. "So whatโ€™s the update on you and Jax."

"Oh, everythingโ€™s fine." I lied. I was suddenly getting used to lying to people that I loved and cared about.

"Oh come on. You guys still dance awkwardly. A bit better but awkwardly." She pointed out and I give her a fake laughter.

"We are both just horrible dancers. Besides, after a fight like that, it would take a while for the both of us to stop being awkward." I said and she nodded. "I know you care about me but Jax and I am good. Hopefully it doesnโ€™t get worse than this."

"I hope so too." She said as I gestured to her dress. She quickly took off her clothes and got into her dress, turning her back towards me. I laced up the corset and tied it at the back. "Make it a bit tighter." I loosened the ropes and retied it a bit tighter for her.

I walked her over to the mirror and we stared at ourselves. I pulled Bethany for a hug. I didnโ€™t think I would be able to do this without her. She had been my rock all these while even after I left and Jax brought me back.

"I love you so much and Iโ€™m so happy that youโ€™re going to be with me." I spoke as she rubbed my back.

"Iโ€™ll be with you all through it all because I know youโ€™ll do the same for me. I love you too, Nora." She said and we pulled away. It still felt surreal that we were finally here. We were no more little girls making wishes under the stars.

The door opened and Devon poked his head into the room. His mouth fell open causing the both of us to laugh. "I honestly cannot wait for the ball. You both look amazing." Devon said as he entered into the room and closed the door behind him. "Iโ€™m pretty sure Jaxโ€™s anger is going to disappear once he sees you in that dress. Itโ€™s so stunning." He said as he walked over to Bethany and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"She said theyโ€™re good now. Awkward but good." Bethany told him and I felt bad that I lied to her. Bethany was my soul sister and lying to her was like lying to myself.

"I still believe youโ€™re going to knock him off his feet." Devon jokes and I nodded as I grabbed my clothes and headed to the bathroom. I knew as wolves we were comfortable with seeing each other naked but I wasnโ€™t just a regular wolf anymore. I was Jaxโ€™s mate and I know he would throw a fit if he sees me naked in front of Devon.

I locked the door behind me and quickly untied the ropes it was easier to take it off than to wear it. Immediately the dress came off, my eyes darted over to my belly. I wasnโ€™t showing yet but I knew I would soon. Wolves donโ€™t have the nine months pregnancy like normal humans did which I was grateful for but it also meant I didnโ€™t have a lot of time before I would tell Jax. I changed into my joggers and swear shirt that Iโ€™ve grown accustomed to wearing. It was a way for me to start hiding my belly even if it wasnโ€™t showing yet. It would provide me a bit of time as it wonโ€™t be easily to tell through the clothes.

I picked up my dress and made my way back to the room to find Jax seated on my bed talking to Bethany and Devon. I walked back into the bathroom and locked the door. I didnโ€™t want him to see my dress and I didnโ€™t want to talk to him. Our last conversation was gut wrenching and I hadnโ€™t fully processed it.

I could feel him trying to get through to me using our mate bond. After a minute, I finally granted him access. I knew my wolf would be happy that we were using our connection.

"So weโ€™re good right?" I heard him ask in my mind and I rolled my eyes. "You told Bethany that weโ€™re good."

"Because I didnโ€™t want her to worry and I wanted to get her off my back. You can tell her the truth, I donโ€™t care." I responded back before I heard the door knob jiggle.

"Leonora, open the door, letโ€™s talk." I heard him say from the other side of the door.

"I donโ€™t want you to see my dress. Just come back later, weโ€™ll talk." I begged. I honestly wanted a bit of space from him for now. I donโ€™t think I can look at him outside of our dance rehearsals.

"Iโ€™ll break down this door if I have to. Leonora, come out of there."
