I hated that I was leaving Leonora but I needed to do this for us. There wasn’t any way that I would let Claire manipulate the council anymore than she planned to. Leonora wasn’t a traitor. She was my mate and I knew she felt something for me the same way I did for her.

"Can I get a kiss before I leave?" I asked and she smiled. I haven’t seen her smile like that in so long. I really wanted her to move back in with me but I understood why she didn’t want to. Baby steps.

"Only if, you let me have my siesta in your room tomorrow. Your bed is extremely comfortable and I really need to sleep." She said and I nodded frantically. Anything to get her close to me, I would do it. I leaned to kiss her and at the same moment she turned her cheek making me kiss her cheek. "Okay that’s it." She said before turning away.

"What was that?" I asked with a pout. Why was she trying to trick me. I wanted a full kiss from her. I wanted to make the guard extremely jealous at the amount of pda.

"I told you, I’m not going to forget what happened earlier. Until you right your wrongs, it’s only going to be a kiss on the cheek." She said as she walked to the other end of the hall. I sighed heavily. This girl would be the death of me if she’s not careful. I jumped off the podium and walked to the door by the left leading into the house. I made my way over to the conference room where everyone was seated including Claire.

"Sorry for my lateness." I apologized as I walked over to my seat.

"We do not have time to waste." The senior council me member announced. "What happened? We lost so many of our men last night and it was all because of that Leonora girl?"

"I found out they had a witch that masked their scent and made them invisible when they entered our pack. I was able to capture the witch with Leonora’s help." I said and there were a few murmurs. Their expressions weren’t looking too good. "Leonora helped me to capture Luke." I half lied. "Luke is in the dungeon right now along side the witch. Leonora said the witch assisted her with the wolfsbane and silver dagger and it was their plan to incapacitate Luke."

If I told them that Leonora stabbed Luke, they would call her in here for questioning and I didn’t want that. The girl had been through a lot and needed a bit of time to herself. I didn’t want to drag her further into this mess. It was there before she came and because of her, it was going to end.

"I will interrogate the witch to confirm the story and after that I will personally handle Luke." I said quickly before they could say anything. I also didn’t want Leonora telling everyone what Luke did to her. It was already so hard for her to tell me talk more of council members.

"It seems like you have figured everything out except your mate?" He questioned and I sighed. I hated having to discuss this with Claire seething beside me.

"I am going forward with Leonora. I know you don’t think she’s capable but last night was already enough for me. I think she just needs proper guidance which Claire can offer her." I shot out. I turned to look at Claire and her eyes were close to a slit as she glared at me. She turned over to the council and gave them the sweetest smile I had ever seen.

"I will definitely coach her to be the best Queen this pack will ever have." She said and they all nodded. That settled it. I and Leonora can be together without anyone breathing down my neck. They all stood up and took a bow before walking out. Claire gestured for all the guards to leave and it was just us in the room.

Claire got up and slowly walked to my seat. She climbed onto my things, straddling me. I felt an ache in my chest. I lied to Leonora. Claire leaned down and kissed my cheek. "Do you really want her to find out about us?" She asked and I sighed. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"Definitely not." I said as she kissed my other cheek. I honestly didn’t know what we were doing. "Claire, I think it’s better we end here now. I don’t want anyone to get hurt."

"I don’t mind being your mistress." She whispered in my ear. This felt so wrong. I had never looked at Claire like that. She was always my best friend and now she was trying to make me her boyfriend? I don’t know.

She rode her hips over mine and I could feel myself get hard. This was so wrong. "Claire, stop it!" I pulled her away from my neck. That region was for Leonora only. I didn’t want her to mark me because I knew she was capable of doing something like that. "I can’t. You’re my friend and I don’t want to hurt you. I really like Leonora and I want her to be my Queen."

"I totally understand." She said as she wrapped her arms around my neck and continued riding me. "But I understand that she’s not enough to please you. I can take care of you." She leaned down and kissed the back of my ear causing me to moan.

This was so bad but it felt so good. I couldn’t do this to Leonora. I couldn’t. Claire is just a friend and I would love to keep it that way. I didn’t want Leonora to worry about my relationship with Claire. "Claire. I can’t and I’m serious." I admitted and Claire pulled herself off me like I stung her.

"I don’t know what came over me." She said as she walked out of the room. I released a deep breath. The only thought in my head was that I lied to Leonora.
