The Lycan king-Chapter 100
*Bethany*
"Jax and I are not really together. He said we should see other people. I’m sorry I lied to you." Leonora had said through her tears. "I was so stupid to think he likes me. He likes Claire. He wanted her to be his queen. I’m just her replacement." She cried out. I handed her my handkerchief and she wiped her face but the tears were falling nonstop.
"I know you are trying not to escalate this matter but I’m going to speak to Jax." I said as I got up. "I’m not going to listen to you and you can make a scene, if you like but I’m still going to talk to Jax." I quickly walked out of the room and made a beeline for Jax. He was standing in the midst of some men, who were congratulating him. I felt my blood boil at the way he smiled at them and dapped them up.
"King." I said as I tapped his back. He turned to look at me then back at the men, like I wasn’t worth listening to. "King Jax." I called again as I tapped his back.
"It can wait." He muttered to me and I rolled my eyes. I tapped him again and this time he turned to look at me. "What is it? I’m in the middle of a conversation.
"It’s about Nora. She’s in the back room and she needs you right now." I said and he scoffed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "This is very important, Jax."
"Get Micah to deal with it." He ordered and I sighed. I walked over to Micah and tapped him. He turned to me with a small frown on his face. I didn’t like him and the feeling was mutual.
"What is it?" He asked and I pulled him away from the people he was talking to.
"Leonora is crying and I think she had something laced cause she’s acting all panicky. Please try and get her to calm down while I try and get Jax away from those elders." I explained and he immediately raced to the back room. I walked back to Jax and tapped him before pulling him away.
"What is wrong with you?" He asked as we stopped in a corner away from everyone. "I told you to get Micah to deal with it."
"I told Micah to try and get her to calm down-"
"Why, what happened?" He sounded alert. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Nora is crying. She thinks she’s Claire’s replacement and she said something about you not liking her enough." I explained to him and his expression moved from concern to worry. "Jax, I’ve been holding back from telling you off but she’s the only family I have. She loves you and I know you care about her-"
He let out an exaggerated groan interrupting me. "That’s what no one understands. I love Leonora. I love her so much it hurts and sometimes it’s too much to handle for me."
"That’s not what she’s seeing. She’s seeing a man who doesn’t love her or actually wants to be with her. She thinks you prefer Claire and you didn’t even have any reaction when Claire was wearing white today of all days. How do you think that would make her feel?" I explained and his demeanor got softer and more relaxed. "I’m talking to you now because when I take you in there, I don’t want you to be regular Jax. I want you to be her partner especially now that her emotions are all over the place."
"Did she tell you why I’ve been angry at her?" He asked me and I nodded. We all knew why he was angry at her. It was because of the way Micah hugged her and then the man at the club. "Are you sure she told you?"
"Yeah. Micah’s hug and the dance with the stranger." I said and he rolled his eyes. Was there something else.
"Yes, I was mad at her but that wasn’t it. You know I waited for her to get back to the apartment and she had been gone for a long time. I was even expecting that she must have gotten a cab and I’ll pay for it when she gets to the house but instead a man brought her home. They were laughing, talking, they even hugged and everything." He explained to me. "I just got so mad and I expected her to maybe come and talk to me but it seemed like she was done with me so I just gave her the space she wanted."
"I didn’t know about that." I said. "Well now, you guys can talk it out. Hopefully Micah has calmed her down." I said as I took his hand and pulled him to the room. She was still crying while Micah was pacing around.
"Thank goodness you’re here. She wouldn’t stop crying. She’s like a faulty tap." Micah joked while Jax walked over to Leonora.
"Hey. I’m here." He said as he sat down beside her. "You don’t need to cry anymore." He said but she would not stop. "Leo, if you go through with this, there’s no going back." He said and she calmed down a bit. I was kind of confused with what he meant but I wasn’t bothered. Anything to get her to stop crying.
"It’s okay, I’ll calm down." She forced out. "You can all go."
"Including me?" Jax asked and there was silence. I looked over at Micah and he shrugged before walking away.
"Jax, should I give you guys some space?" I asked and he nodded. I quickly walked out of the room. I gave them one last look and I saw that she was resting on his shoulder.
Progress.
I made my way over to Devon who was seated alone and sipping some champagne. "If you ever hurt me, I’ll kill you."
"Where is this coming from?" He asked as I took his hand and pulled him up from the chair.
"Let’s dance. I need to take my mind off this whole wedding planning thing."
