The Kingmaker System-Chapter 422 - 421. Birthday Gift (1)
Chapter 422: 421. Birthday Gift (1)
Two days after I had returned home, I officially requested to meet the King.
The seeds of poison that I had planted between the King and Queen were pretty much grown well, the rift between them was so vast that the King wouldn’t even visit her or appear with her unless it was an important occasion.
Their unity was completely broken yet, but it was fragile enough and with what I was going to do after meeting Roger, the King was removed that last bit of any connection between them.
[Defender of Divine Glory says it’s not a good thing to break a couple apart.]
"Don’t call them a couple. They’re only together for their own greed."
[Goddess of Wisdom agrees with you.]
[Giver of Gifts agrees with Defender of Divine Glory.]
"You too?"
[Giver of Gifts explains that marriage is a contract that is bowed before the Divine so, a third person breaking it is a sin.]
[Defender of Divine Glory asks you to be careful.]
"Hey, now. I’m doing this to fulfill your quest." I reminded him.
And the said quest was.
[Reinstate Prince Eric Delle Ferin Marismus in the royal palace.]
[Reward: One step closer to the throne.
Failure: Eric’s removal from the royal palace.]
"This is reward is a scam though! I know if I reinstate him in the royal palace it’d be one step closer to the throne!" I complained in my head.
They fell silent after that making me release an exasperated sigh. These three sure we’re just playing around considering I was serious about my job.
"Oh... That was dangerous." I heard Roan hiss.
"It was a close one!" Esme gasped.
"Back! Back! Back! Argh!" Blake cried.
"He’s quite fast." Julio commented. frёeωebɳovel.com
I turned my head to look at my aides who were standing with their faces to the window looking outside.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked making the three young aides to flinch while Roan kept his eyes out.
"Come and look, it’s interesting." He asked beckoning me.
I sighed and then looked at Esme and Blake who lingered around the other window and I stood up walking towards the window where Roan was, Julio stepped aside to give me space. I looked out watching the spar that was going beneath. It was Asher and Davian.
It seemed quite an intense fight considering that almost all of my household’s personnel had gathered and it seemed to be going for a while now.
Davian was like a black lightning flashing swiftly with deadly attacks while Asher was more like a mist who was avoiding the attacks and managing to defend himself with quite a skill.
I could hear the people cheering both of them and it was obvious who my aides were cheering for. But sadly enough for them, he was losing.
Asher might have the experience and skills that he developed for years but Davian wasn’t that easy to defeat or rather it was only a wishful thinking to defeat him if you weren’t as powerful as a Dragon or Davian’s parents.
Davian slashed his blade in a horizontal arc giving Asher an opening and it seemed like Asher saw through it but he went ahead anyway and I saw Davian flipping his sword holding it in a backhanded style to bringing it down but Asher quickly stepped back and fell on his butt with the tip of Davian’s sword at his neck.
"Take a break." I told my aides making their faces glow before I opened the window and got on the windowsill.
I leapt out followed by Roan who also jumped down, I flew over to the ground and landed right before the two contenders making most of the spectators gasp including Asher but Davian seemed unfazed.
"Get up," I spoke giving my hand to Asher and he took it before getting to his feet.
"A-And the winner is Prince Davian." The referee, Remi announced making some of the servants groan and some to cheer. They must have put money on the contenders again.
Asher dusted himself while I spotted Kai who approached him.
"Asher, are you all right?" He asked and Asher gave him a smile.
"Yes, Young Master, I’m fine."
Kai then looked at Davian, "You won again, Davian!"
My eyebrows jumped as he just called him by his name without any honorifics.
"Yes, that was a given anyways, did you put your money on me?" Davian asked as he bowed slightly with his hands on his knees to get closer to Kai’s eyelevel.
Kai smiled sheepishly before he shook his head, "I’m sorry, but I always bet on Asher when he’s fighting."
"Even after knowing that I’m going to win?" Davian asked.
"That’s well..." Kai looked at Asher and then gave the same smile as he said, "Asher is my friend and he fights for me that’s why I only bet on him or Grandma Enora or Uncle Lyall."
Davian tilted his head, "And what about Master?"
Kai looked at me and Roan who stood by my side answered, "Master rarely spars here."
Davian glanced at me and I clapped my hands grabbing the attention of the servants who were begrudgingly handing out money and some gleefully taking it.
"Well, since you’re all done with your entertainment then back to work!" I announced.
Some of them groaned but walked away and I turned to Asher who also started heading back.
"Hey," I spoke and he turned.
"Yes?"
I plucked out two envelopes from my vest and handed them to him.
"You’ve got replies for your letters." I said and his eyes glistened.
He took the envelope and a small smile appeared on his lips.
"Thank you, Master." He spoke and I smiled.
Asher bowed before he turned and walked away picking pace. Kai looked at him and then at me.
"Were those letters from Asher’s family?" He asked and I hummed placing my hand around his shoulders.
"Yes, he’s going to see them soon so, I guess he’s pretty excited."
Kai smiled, "I’m glad, he said his family never loved him, if they’re sending him letters then it’s a good thing, right?"
"Yes, it is."
Suddenly Kai’s smile faltered and he looked at me, "But what if he decided to stay back with his family and not come back to us?"
Kai brushed my hand over Kai’s head as I watched Asher walk away.
"That’s for him to decide, we can’t force him to stay here if his heart wants something else." I spoke and Kai looked down.
I could feel Davian’s eyes on me as I turned and looked at Remi.
"Take him back," I said and he bowed before he took Kai with him and I saw Roan stretching his arms above his head.
"We’re still on a break, right? I’ll go and have a nap." He said and I sighed.
"What about the stuff I told you to do?"
"Done, it’s on my desk, you can go through it." He spoke as he yawned widely and walked away.
Now it was only myself and Davian left.
"Are you still mad at me, Master?" Davian asked and I turned to look at him.
"For what?" I asked and he sighed running his hand through his hair.
"I... I just lost control in that moment that’s all, I didn’t mean to be hostile, Master." He said and I relaxed my shoulders.
"I’m not mad about that,"
"Then why have you been avoiding me?" He asked.
I sighed, I didn’t quite purposely do it but I was busy with the Eirn matter so, I was out often and preparing for stuff that’s why I couldn’t clear up things with him.
"It’s not like I was avoiding you purposely, Your Highness. I had some work that’s why I had to be out for a while."
Davian leaned ahead a little looking right into my eyes, "Then you’re not mad at me."
"I just said that, didn’t I?" I spoke crossing my arms at my chest and he chuckled slumping his shoulders.
His rigid seemed amethyst eyes seemed to soften up resembling the twilight skies.
"Thank God... I was scared thinking you’d start hating me." He said and I cocked my brow.
"People might think you’re into men, Your Highness." I teased and he laughed.
"I don’t care what others think as long as the people whom I like don’t misunderstand me." He said and I could see the innocence in his eyes for a moment and then smiled.
"Well, are you free now?" I asked and he tilted his head to one side.
"Yes...?"
"Have you picked a gift for Kai?" I asked and he hummed.
"I didn’t, I don’t know much about his likes so, I was thinking of asking you on what I should gift him." He admitted and I smiled.
"You’re in luck, get ready, I’m going to Oasis for picking up the gift that I prepared for Kai, I’ll help you pick something." I offered and he beamed.
"All right!"
