The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 96: Ethan Is Too Gentle to Yvette Aston
Yvette Aston nodded and served soup to Ethan Grant.
Ethan Grant was stunned for a long time; even though he had already had dinner, he still couldn’t help but want to use his chopsticks.
Yvette Aston ate very carefully, and the moment Ethan Grant put down his chopsticks, she also immediately put down hers and got up to tidy up.
Ethan Grant proactively placed the bowls and chopsticks into the dishwasher, something he wouldn’t normally bother to do.
"We are in a cooperative relationship; outside of work, you are not a nanny." Ethan Grant told Yvette Aston that she didn’t need to be so attentive.
Yvette Aston squatted beside the dishwasher, feeling awkward for quite a while.
Her fingertips were somewhat chilly, and Yvette Aston looked sadly at the floor.
Five years in prison had caused her to become disconnected from society; she didn’t know how to use these fully automatic products.
Seeing Yvette Aston squatting quietly, Ethan Grant also squatted down beside her and glanced over, speaking softly, "I don’t know how to use this dishwasher either; the maid can wash the dishes tomorrow."
Yvette Aston looked up at Ethan Grant, her heart pounding a bit.
He said he didn’t know how to use it either.
Yvette Aston knew clearly that Ethan Grant didn’t use these things because he never touched them, yet she still felt comforted in her heart.
"Then I’ll learn from the maid tomorrow." Yvette Aston smiled slightly at Ethan Grant.
Ethan Grant chuckled lightly, "Hmm, teach me once you’ve learned."
Yvette Aston’s ears turned slightly red, and she lowered her head, clutching her fingers.
Don’t be too gentle with her.
She doesn’t deserve it, and... she’s very afraid.
"The master bedroom on the first floor is here, facing the sun, and the room is spacious as well. The walk-in closet should be to your liking." Ethan Grant knew Yvette Aston hadn’t chosen a room, so he proactively recommended it.
Yvette Aston nodded and entered the room, hiding behind the door. "Good night, Mr. Grant."
Ethan Grant wanted to say something, but he was stopped by Yvette Aston’s "Good night." She truly had social anxiety.
With a nod, Ethan Grant turned and went upstairs.
Suddenly having a stranger living in the house, and she even said good night to him, such a feeling... was surprisingly not repulsive at all.
Smiling slightly, Ethan Grant entered the study.
With Yvette Aston moving in, the house didn’t seem as empty anymore.
...
Room.
Yvette Aston moved around in the room and nervously hid in the bathroom.
She took a long time to adapt before cautiously running a bath.
It had been a long time since she felt so relaxed.
Being around Ethan Grant, the sense of security emerged spontaneously.
"Ding." The phone vibrated.
Yvette Aston lay in the bathtub, glanced at her phone; it was a WeChat message from Ethan Grant.
He reminded her to keep her wound away from water.
Her cheeks instantly turned red again.
Placing the phone aside, Yvette Aston curled her legs in the bathtub and raised her injured hand, watched it for a long, long time.
It felt like a dream.
Being with Ethan Grant, even if it was mutual exploitation, it was incredibly fortunate for her.
Lying on the edge of the bathtub, Yvette Aston slowly closed her eyes.
So sleepy.
Finally, she could sleep soundly.
...
Ripple Court Hotel.
After the police inquiry, Henry Jennings returned to the hotel with great displeasure, looking grim.
The Grant Family thought it was him who reported to the police? Ethan Grant really knew how to find scapegoats for himself.
"Did Yvette Aston get discharged?" Henry Jennings asked.
Ben Ziegler tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "Today at the hospital, I ran into Ethan Grant’s assistant, Christopher Carter. He said Yvette Aston was in the doctor’s office, so I went there, but the doctor said she had been discharged. When I rushed to the inpatient department, Yvette Aston was already gone."
Henry Jennings’s face darkened. "Go to Caden Summers’ place."
He was worried about Yvette Aston.
"President Jennings, have you ever thought... if you and Claudia Bell don’t call off the engagement, Miss Aston will never have peace of mind." Ben Ziegler spoke bravely.
Someone like Claudia Bell wouldn’t let Yvette Aston go even if she was released; unless Henry Jennings ended the engagement, Yvette Aston wouldn’t stay with him.
"Then just hide her away." Henry Jennings rubbed his temples, "The old man agreed to the marriage with the Bell Family; it’s not something that can be canceled so easily. I can only try to delay it or... divorce her in three years."
"President Jennings, this isn’t fair to Yvette Aston and Summers." Ben Ziegler waited at the traffic light, feeling anxious.
"Fairness? What is fairness? Marriage is just a transaction; it doesn’t affect my feelings for her. Apart from the title, I can give her anything." To Henry Jennings, even if Claudia Bell became his wife, she’d just be ornamental.
She’d never get his love.
He could provide Yvette Aston with everything except for the title.
Ben Ziegler opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He drove towards Caden Summers’ residence.
But Caden Summers’ repair shop was already shut down, and it was cleaned up inside as well.
"Hello, where are the people who lived here?" Ben Ziegler got out of the car and asked a neighbor.
"Caden? He moved away; the landlord bullied his sister, and Caden beat him up. After that, he moved away." The elderly neighbor liked Caden Summers and Summers, and spoke with some indignation.
Henry Jennings furrowed his brows, lowered the car window. "Find out where they moved to."
Ben Ziegler nodded and got back in the car, "President Jennings, why don’t you rest at the hotel first while I investigate."
"Handle that landlord," Henry Jennings leaned back in the seat and spoke tiredly.
No such thing should dare to bully Yvette Aston.
"Alright, President Jennings."
Ben Ziegler drove out of the alley, suddenly recalling something important. "Oh, President Jennings, Montville’s DNA testing center called; the old man’s people went to inquire."
Henry Jennings furrowed his brows and sat straight. "How was it handled?"
"They followed your instructions," Ben Ziegler said promptly.
Henry Jennings nodded. "Ensure their people keep an eye on things, don’t let anything slip."
Ben Ziegler nodded.
The old man’s people had inquired about the relationship between Summers and Henry Jennings; the center’s staff would undoubtedly support the father-son narrative.
This way, the old man, considering Summers, wouldn’t make a move on Yvette Aston, nor would he allow the Bell Family to trouble her.
Yvette Aston would be temporarily safe.
Therefore, this could be hidden for as long as possible.
Once the old man knew Summers wasn’t Henry Jennings’ son, given the old man’s nature... Yvette Aston would be in great danger.
Henry Jennings massaged his temples again, opening his mouth, "Jayden Grant and Melody Crowe’s topic is still trending; Ethan Grant really has a heavy hand."
"Jayden Grant and Melody Crowe have always been restless; they ascended as a mistress and a bastard but wanted too much. Their capability and ambition didn’t match, and they might not be able to compete with Ethan Grant." Ben Ziegler nodded.
Henry Jennings looked out the window, speaking with depth, "As a partner, I would prefer my client boss to be an idiot, not a strong opponent like Ethan Grant."
Drumming his fingers lightly on the armrest, Henry Jennings spoke again, "With Arthur Grant’s skill, Jayden Grant will be out within three months; this matter will soon settle."
"President Jennings, are you implying... to support Jayden Grant?" Ben Ziegler looked at Henry Jennings nervously.
If Yvette Aston found out, she’d surely be heartbroken; Jayden Grant had hurt her so much.
"Not support, but control." Henry Jennings preferred Jayden Grant, who could be controlled, rather than Ethan Grant, a rival who could become a major competitor at any time.
Besides, Henry Jennings’ greatest concern was Ethan Grant competing with him for Yvette Aston.
If Ethan Grant were not there, Yvette Aston’s only choice would be him.
He absolutely wouldn’t allow Ethan Grant to take Yvette Aston away from him.
In order to obtain Yvette Aston, he had sacrificed too much...
