The Gigolo System in the Academy of Magic-Chapter 46: The Strength of a Level 4 Mage
Chapter 46 - The Strength of a Level 4 Mage
The third year mage was surprised. He backed away in a moment of hesitation but that was all Gorran needed. The stone demon rushed forward before the mage could react and punched him in the stomach.
The mage tried to put up a magic shield but it cracked instantly and the punch threw him back a few metres.
The crowd began to whisper. They didn't expect this demon to be so strong that he easily defeated a third year mage!
Gale looked at the strange eyes of the surrounding students and felt enraged.
"Back off!"
Gale barked, halting the other third-years who had stepped forward in anger. His voice carried the authority of someone used to being obeyed.
"I'll deal with him personally."
His cloak flared dramatically as magical pressure began to rise. Wind howled around him in invisible currents, his aura growing more violent with every breath. This was a different kind of pressure from the red skinned demon's bloodline ability. This was the suppression of magical levels.
Wind energy flew around Gale, almost making his body rise into the air. Although some mid level mages can fly, that is usually when they are level 6. But because Gale focuses on wind type magic, he can also fly for a short amount of time.
James frowned. He had retreated further into the crowd and was now being held firmly by the petite woman next to him. It seemed like she wanted to steady him but James felt it was more that she didn't want him to escape.
But he didn't worry about that now. He looked at the lone figure, standing calmly under the pressure.
Gorran was obviously weak against wind type magic. James still didn't know the specific mechanism of his bloodline ability, but he had noticed that the only magic he had seen the stone demon dodge instead of tank directly was wind magic.
Gorran dodged the wind blades quickly, but there was not much space in the hall. His obsidian-like armor shimmered in the light and he quickly rushed toward Gale intending to fight in close combat.
But obviously he underestimated the power of a level 4 mage.
"Wind Storm!"
A small tornado appeared in the middle of the hall and Gorran was instantly flung away. When he tried to get up more whirlpools of wind appeared around him, as if trying to grind him out of existence.
It was too fast, the spells flew out one after the other with no breaks. The stone demon didn't even have time to move before he was constantly flung away by the harsh winds.
The fight turned brutal. Gale manipulated the battlefield with ease, wind blades slicing the air in elegant arcs. Whenever Gorran tried to get closer he would be sent away by the powerful wind magic. It was like a toddler fighting an adult.
After a few minutes, Gorran crashed to one knee. His breaths were shallow, and his hands trembled. The armor peeled away in shreds of obsidian light, revealing his tattooed skin that was glowing weakly with light.
Gorran's eyes were still flashing with a defiant light.
But it was over.
The other demons, seeing Gorran's state, did not move. The crushing presence of a mid-level mage was too much. Even if they had the will, they lacked the strength.
"Is there anyone else"
At this time the petite woman suddenly pushed James into the ground and front, and shouted with disdain in her eyes, "Master Gale, this person was also with the demons!"
James stumbled and landed hard on his hands and knees.
The crowd parted around him. People had seen him before, but no one said anything. They didn't expect that it was one of the women who would rat him out.
Gale glanced at the drunken James. When he saw that he was just a level 1 mage, he sneered, "All though you are a human, you should also pay the price for hanging with demon scum!"
"But first.." Gale turned back to Gorran who was kneeling on the ground, "...I'll deal with you."
Wind blades began to form, all though everyone knew that there was no possibility of him killing the demon, he could make him feel pain, humiliate him,
James watched this with some worry in his heart.
How long is he going to wait?
Ever since James knew Gorran was pretending to be drunk from the beginning, he felt that this demon must have some sort of plan. But so far there seemed to be no indication.
James held his communicator under his robe. He could inform Selena in an instant. But he was hesitating,
Actually he could just let Gorran get hurt, because he knew no matter what the demon wouldn't get killed. But Gorran was the one who had the highest favorability for him, not just amongst the demons but also in the whole academy. Only Selena was higher.
James didn't know what he did to gain the demon's favour so quickly but he also felt that Gorran was quite interesting. He didn't want him to get injured like this.
Just as James was conflicted on whether to call Selena or to wait and see, the shadows that were still spreading slowly on the ground seemed to feel a familiar aura.
James' eyes narrowed, and he stood up instantly.
"Stop!"
The shout cracked through the murmuring crowd. James' movements were still unsteady, and his face still flushed with fake drunkenness. But there was clarity in his voice. He rushed forward and stood in front of the kneeling Gorran.
Gale was momentarily confused, but then he sneered and injected even more magical power.
The wind blades surged forward ferociously toward the two figures.
James raised his hands and summoned a wall of earth in front of him, gritting his teeth. It rose with a grinding rumble but was no match for the attacks of a level 4 mage. The blades tore through it like paper.
James looked at the approaching magic attack and cursed in his mind: 'Why don't you guys act quickly?!'
He felt the ring in his hand. This was his last resort.
[Silver Level Item: Simple Mana Shield (Enhanced)]

He didn't have enough mana right now, however he could use his blood as a substitute. But it would make him very weak.
Just when the wind blades were about to approach him, a red skinned figure suddenly appeared in front of James.
Red translucent tentacles danced in the air, and then suddenly whipped out toward the incoming wind blades. When they touched the blades the tentcalces quickly absorbed the magic power, letting the wind blades quickly dissipate in the air.
