Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person-Chapter 153 - 111: I Think You’re a Jokester
Zheng Xinyu was amused by the Corgi's antics and waved the backpack in her hand: "You don't believe me? Really, if you don't believe it, smell this backpack. It has my scent all over it because I've been carrying you the whole way, you ungrateful stinky dog!"
Unexpectedly, the Corgi really ran over to Zheng Xinyu, sniffed the scent on the backpack with its twitching little nose, circled around her twice, and then gently rubbed its head against Zheng Xinyu's pant leg in a friendly manner.
"Wow, you're really smart, little dog, hey, don't go away..."
Zheng Xinyu was delighted by the dog's affectionate behavior and was about to squat down to pet its head when the Corgi suddenly darted back to Zhang Su's side, sitting upright, wagging its tongue as if it was Zhang Su's guardian mascot.
"You... he's the bad guy, he wants to eat you, I'm the good person, why can't you tell the difference..."
Zheng Xinyu was utterly frustrated.
Looking at the Corgi squatting beside him, Zhang Su suddenly felt it wasn't so annoying. He beamed at Zheng Xinyu: "My charm is just that strong, you can't deny it. Even the dog ignores you, hahaha!"
"Nonsense! Come back, puppy, sister loves you..."
Zheng Xinyu stepped forward to stroke the Corgi's head, and this time, the Corgi didn't resist at all, letting her rub it as she pleased.
"Let's go, they've all gone in, let's hurry up!"
Turning his head, Zhang Su saw Zhong Xiaoshan standing by an iron door, waving at him. Naturally, the others had already entered the shop.
"Come, let sister hold you."
Zheng Xinyu opened her arms, wanting to hug the Corgi.
Zhang Su smirked: "What do you mean by sister or whatever, holding it will make you unable to work... Are you courting death?!"
"Oh, right..." Zheng Xinyu finally realized that she didn't have a free hand to hold the dog and casually pulled out the baseball bat tucked behind her.
"Woof."
The Corgi, as if it completely understood their conversation, dashed back and forth in the yard, as if to say, I can run by myself, no need to carry me!
"Xinyu, this guy's speed is not right!"
Zhang Su, walking, frowned and watched the Corgi dashing around. Having never owned a dog and seldom seeing one running at top speed in the neighborhood, he had a sense of his own speed and figured he should be able to outpace a Corgi!
But the speed of this Corgi was simply unfathomable. There was no need for a race; Zhang Su knew he wasn't a match. The difference was too great!
The normal top speed for a Corgi over a hundred meters is about ten seconds, with some individual variation but not much. The fastest few humans can barely edge out a Corgi.
But this Corgi frolicking in the yard, swooshing through the vehicles, had an extraordinary agility and speed that couldn't be precisely measured but was evident to the naked eye!
Seven to eight cars were lined up, about thirty meters apart, and as a friction sound crackled from under the Corgi's paws, it had already darted from one end to the other in about a second, three times faster than a normal Corgi!
This speed was approaching that of a top predator like a cheetah!
Zheng Xinyu pouted after watching for a moment, merely nodding without commenting, already stunned by what she saw.
"Hey, silly dog!"
Zhang Su called out to the Corgi.
The Corgi came to a sudden stop in the distance, twisting its head to look back.
Zhang Su felt that the Corgi didn't seem to like the name "silly dog," giving him a glare that felt oddly human.
"Hey, little dog, have you mutated?"
The Corgi didn't answer with a bark, but rather jumped up and nodded its head.
"Damn, Brother Su, it's mutated into a super dog!"
Zheng Xinyu, excited beyond measure, grabbed Zhang Su's arm.
No normal Corgi could jump nearly as high as a person. Even cats would struggle, not to mention this Corgi weighed over twenty pounds, practically confirming the mutation suspicion.
This phenomenon wasn't hard for the two to accept. After all, with people turning into zombies running amok, was a mutated dog that hard to accept?
"Let's go, we have tasks in hand first, and we'll deal with it later!"
Zhang Su didn't enter the shop through the back door but instead went to the Mercedes motorhome. Twelve meters long, two and a half meters wide, and four meters high, it was far more imposing than an average minibus, and the Toyota Coaster was only seven meters long. Twelve meters was approaching the size of a large bus, and it was quite commanding.
"This car... is so awesome."
Zhang Su patted the Mercedes motorhome's tire, smiling involuntarily.
"But Brother Su, I've heard that the bigger the car, the more gas it guzzles. Doesn't this car consume fuel like a tank?"
Zheng Xinyu curiously knocked on the car body, producing a solid metallic clang.
"A tank... you dare to say! Do you know the fuel consumption for a tank? Old Dazi's Tiger tanks during World War II consumed about four hundred liters per hundred kilometers, and in off-road conditions, six hundred and sixty liters!"
"Six hundred and sixty!"
Zheng Xinyu was stunned. If those numbers were on paper, she would suspect there should be a decimal point after those two sixes...
"Did you remember wrong?"
Zhang Su shook his head: "I'm not a military enthusiast. This data came from an automotive show abroad where they conducted tests, and it's not incorrect! This motorhome indeed consumes more fuel than regular vehicles, but it's proportional to its weight, with an empty consumption of around twenty liters per hundred kilometers, which is quite fuel-efficient for such a big guy."
"Load this vehicle with supplies, drive it to a beach, grassland, or desert, it doesn't matter. As long as we're not ambushed, living for a year or more isn't an issue. Just imagine that life, how pleasant it would be."
Zhang Su couldn't help but fantasize. Now that the streets were filled with abandoned vehicles and unattended gas stations, driving a tank wasn't realistic, but a motorhome's fuel consumption could be managed.
"This car is truly impressive, Brother Su. How much was it in the past, and could you afford it?"
Zheng Xinyu didn't know much about cars, but the giant vehicle gave her a sense of security, and she supposed it wasn't cheap.
Zhang Su glanced at Zheng Xinyu speechlessly: "I'm just a lower middle class guy at best. If I remember correctly, after importing, this car's price exceeded fifteen million. Is that for the middle class to play with?"
"Fifteen million isn't much, is it..."
Zheng Xinyu looked puzzled.
"Okay, okay, you're awesome, fifteen million isn't much, you're truly impressive."
Zhang Su was left speechless, thinking to himself that this girl must be watching too many short videos, assuming everyone in the Celestial Dynasty earned over a billion.
"Oh, my bad, I thought we were talking about Dou Coins, hehe..."
Zheng Xinyu stuck her tongue out sheepishly, realizing she mixed up the values, off by tenfold.
"Dou Coins... You think you're funny! Go, go, play somewhere else..." Zhang Su shook his head, tugged the car door handle, shrugged: "Can't open it, let's go find the key!"
The cars in the parking lot were securely locked, so the two headed towards the back door.
The little Corgi knew where they were heading and ran ahead to sit by the iron door, leisurely watching them, quite clever.
