Chapter 903: Chapter 585: Blood Race Pirates

Night.

The silver moon hangs high in the sky.

The cold moonlight spills onto the sea like tiny scales, reflecting shimmering light as the waves rise and fall.

The shadow of a giant ship quietly passes through the moonlit waters in the dark night.

This is a Blood Race pirate ship. At this moment, the deck is immersed in thick honey-like moonlight, revealing clear scenes in the darkness.

On the deck, a hunched fishman struggles with its barnacle-covered back, using webbed claws to drag a rusty fishing net. The bioluminescent octopuses and various fish inside desperately struggle, occasionally biting at the fishman’s fingers.

A group of emaciated human slaves, dressed in tattered clothing, huddle beside the cannons, carefully polishing the copper tubes.

Their necks still bear darkened bite marks. Whenever a Blood Race pirate passes by, these slaves involuntarily shiver, instinctively pulling open their collars to reveal their shoulders.

The Beastman laborers, in front of the winch, breathe heavily and laboriously, with iron chains locked to their legs clinking against their straining muscles. Beads of sweat mixed with blood roll off them, dripping onto the backs of nearby Half-Elves.

The small figures engage in tasks requiring short stature and nimble bodies, climbing like spiders among the masts, repairing the torn batwing sails with bloodied hands.

At the top of the mast, a pirate flag flutters in the moonlight. The black flag prominently features intertwined symbols of bats and skeletal remains.

On one side of this massive Blood Race pirate ship, its name is painted in blood and broken bones—Bloody Bride.

Suddenly, a thick sucking sound echoes from the stern.

Two Blood Race members are hunched over an unconscious Beastman, drinking deeply from his carotid artery, the dark red saliva winding down the Beastman’s gray-green skin and finally draining into the water outlet.

Taking advantage of this moment, several Half-Elves attempt to escape. However, they are quickly pierced in the feet by iron hooks attached to whip ends, hanging upside down in the air, swaying helplessly like moving blood bags in the night wind.

At this moment, a small head cautiously peeks from under the gangway, quietly observing the outside situation.

The child has a pale face, with mysterious crimson pupils. Despite his dirty cheeks, there’s no hiding his young age.

Suddenly, a foot stomps hard on his head, forcing him down.

"Don’t stick your head out here, little brat, get back to your room!" The Blood Race pirate, with blood stains still at the corner of his mouth, staggered, muttering curses.

The Blood Race child who had his head stepped on patted off the dirt, glaring fiercely at the departing pirate’s back.

He reluctantly took one last look outside, expressing a slight sympathy for the slaves’ tragic plight in his eyes, but eventually retreated silently.

With the Blood Race’s excellent night vision, he quickly returned to his room.

Once inside, several children gathered around him. It seems this youth is the oldest among them.

"Brother Adam, what’s going on outside now?" a little girl in thin clothing asked.

She, too, had a pale face and crimson pupils, indicating the same race as Adam.

Adam looked at the little girl, gently patted her hair, and softly comforted, "It’s okay, don’t be afraid, we’re at sea now."

"At sea? Then we can’t go back, I want my mommy! Mommy, waaa!" A boy sitting on the floor couldn’t help but burst into tears.

His crying affected the others, and they soon started to wail as well.

The noisy crying particularly irritated a little girl in the corner, and she couldn’t help but scold, "What’s with the crying! You group of fools, once you’re caught here, your mommy abandons you!"

"No, she doesn’t!" the boy who had been crying loudly retorted tearfully.

"We’re freaks! Nobody wants us!"

"That’s incorrect; my mom said I would become a Night Watcher someday! A Night Watcher will protect me!"

"Your mom lied to you, there’s no such thing as a Night Watcher that I’ve ever heard of." continued the little girl mercilessly.

The boy cried even louder.

"Eva, stop saying things like that." Adam quickly urged.

"Idiot, you’re a big idiot too!" Eva shouted angrily, before retreating into the dark corner once more.

Just then, harsh anger-laden scolding came from outside the door.

"Crying, crying, if you keep crying, I’ll string you all up on the mast! Brats, stay quiet and rest; what’s with the noise!"

The threatening voice outside was noticeably intimidating, and the room became much quieter with everyone instinctively lowering their voices.

Only one little boy opened the door cautiously, poking his head out.

"Baldy, hope a fish eats you tomorrow!"

"What did you say? You toothless brat!" The angry Blood Race pirate outside rushed over, but the door was quickly shut already.

In this pitch-black night, he dared not pound on the door. After all, the children in the room were of their race, fundamentally different from those slaves outside.

"You’ll have a rough time tomorrow, if you dare, don’t come out!" Footsteps could be heard gradually fading away.

Adam watched the little boy, sighed helplessly, and said, "Tokke, stop provoking them, or they’ll string you up to bask in the sun again tomorrow."

"Hmph, I’m not scared of them, I love sunbathing; it’s not even a punishment!" Tokke stubbornly declared.

"Ow!" he suddenly yelped, turning around quickly.

A little girl accidentally touched a wound on his back.

"What’re you doing!" Tokke said disgruntledly.

The little girl, startled by his reaction, quickly retreated a few steps apologetically, waving her hands, "I’m sorry, I noticed a wound on your back and wanted to help heal it."

"That’s not a wound; it’s proof I love sunbathing!" Tokke shouted loudly.

Eva, who had slipped into the darkness, came out again, pulling the little girl back, gently stroking her golden hair, saying: "Ignore him, he’s just a dummy."

The little girl hesitated for a moment, but eventually timidly extended a hand, lightly touching the wound. Instantly, a thin membrane of blood covered the wound.

"You!" Tokke was about to shout, but stopped this time.

"Wow! It really doesn’t hurt anymore!"

"Really? Let me see."

"I want to see, I want to see too!"

"Let me see too!"

This magical moment attracted the children who had been suppressing their cries to gather around excitedly.

"Heh heh!" Tokke inexplicably felt smug, appearing full of pride.

"An absolute dummy." Eva commented with a face full of disdain.

Being the oldest here, Adam watched this scene with a comforting smile.

He walked beside Eva, gently placed a hand on her head, and rubbed it, "You’re happy too, aren’t you?"

Eva instantly reacted like a startled cat, her cat ears concealed all this time in her hair popped up in no time. She flusteredly slapped Adam’s hand away, saying, "Who’s happy! You dummy!"

With that, she ran off mumbling, hugging a little girl.

Adam merely smiled, his eyes following Eva’s swaying tail.

Then, his gaze fell on the little girl, pondering inwardly: "Pointed ears, is she an Elf? Was the stop at Tate Continent a few days ago?

Hmm... Though it seems like there were other stops, sigh, how can we escape from here?"

Continuing to think, Adam couldn’t help but sigh.

The children cried and fussed for quite a while, gradually falling asleep one by one.

Adam picked up each child, sleeping in all sorts of positions, and placed them in their beds. Once everything was settled, he finally sat by his own bed.

Opposite him, Eva was sleeping.
