The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!-Chapter 1132: Althea’s First "Family Meeting
On the other side, the little turtle "Michael Jennings," who had been pretending to be dead, finally came to life upon hearing Shellback’s voice and poked his head out.
Upon seeing his "big brother" floating in the air, he immediately made a slow, sluggish attempt to pounce towards it.
Shellback could have easily dodged, but upon sensing the consciousness of his turtle underling inside "Michael Jennings," he failed to react in time and was caught by him.
The little underling, donning Michael Jennings’ face, held it eagerly but remained speechless, his originally shrewd middle-aged face now looking somewhat silly.
"L-Little brother?!"
Upon confirming that this was indeed the consciousness of his own little brother, Shellback looked at the Wood Pattern Turtle lying on the grass and finally understood, shocked,
"How did you swap souls with the second son of the Jennings Family?!"
Old Lady Jennings: ???
Realizing what had happened, she slowly looked at the little overturned turtle on the ground, her eyes widening.
O-Old Second Son???
...
Althea couldn’t hide the matter of swapping souls between Michael Jennings and the family pet turtle.
Old Lady Jennings hadn’t expected "Scarlett Jennings" to be so unreasonable now, acting against family members so easily.
She didn’t dare to confront "Scarlett Jennings" to undo it, so she went to report it to the old master.
Thus, soon, the whole family became aware of the situation.
Before long, Althea sat in the living room, in the old master’s main seat, looking at the Jennings family members sitting around, absentmindedly stroking the fur of a little fox, then asked,
"Go ahead, isn’t there something you want to say?"
Althea, who had always been solitary, found the "family meeting" intriguing as it was her first time participating.
Luca Jennings, Donovan Jennings, and their group already knew from Samuel Chalmers that the person in front was Althea, not Scarlett.
Magnolia Hearne, upon hearing the news, immediately returned to the Hearne Tribe to consult Emily Hearne about solutions.
While Magnolia wasn’t present, the other Jennings family members were all there.
Chase Jennings, originally busy with his weight loss endeavors in the Capital Metropolitan, rushed back upon hearing of Scarlett’s transformation, arriving just in time to catch the unfolding scene, watching with great interest.
Of course, he didn’t dare to watch Scarlett’s excitement, only that of the soul-swapped second uncle.
Seeing the Wood Pattern Turtle on the coffee table, which was said to be his second uncle, Chase felt quite moved.
This was the consequence of offending Scarlett Jennings.
Alongside his sentiment, there was a strange sense of balance.
Wasn’t this quite similar to when his own soul was trapped inside a doll, crying for help to no avail?
Just as he was thinking this, Old Lady Jennings spoke first, addressing Luca Jennings,
"Luca, she’s your daughter, I can’t handle her, but surely you, as her father, can, right?
Look at her, acting against her own uncle at the slightest disagreement, what kind of behavior is this?!"
Perhaps the gathering of family members had boosted her confidence a bit, but she didn’t dare face Scarlett directly, thus expressing her dissatisfaction indirectly to Luca Jennings.
Truthfully, this wasn’t the first time Scarlett had used Mystical Technique against family members.
Adam Jennings had firsthand experience. Compared to Michael Jennings, the Silence Technique Scarlett used on him was merely a small warning.
Adam remained silent, Kingston wasn’t worried, Ismeria sat bewildered, while the three children of the second house didn’t take a stand, and naturally, the third house didn’t either.
Yet Luca Jennings, being named by Old Lady Jennings, couldn’t ignore it.
Although he knew the person in front wasn’t his daughter Scarlett, it didn’t stop him from being protective.
Regarding the Old Lady’s questioning, Luca Jennings only focused on the turtle on the table,
"I trust Scarlett wouldn’t act without reason; did Old Second say something unpleasant again? Or did he act arrogantly like her second uncle?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
One had to say, Luca Jennings understood his brother well.
The turtle Michael Jennings, who had been holding his head high to display a look of accusation, suddenly lowered it in guilt upon hearing Luca’s words.
The Old Lady’s arrogance weakened a bit as Donovan Jennings interjected,
"Scarlett needed to return home to recover due to damage to her Divine Soul; second uncle couldn’t show concern, at least he shouldn’t disturb her rest, even provoking her with words."
Who knows if using Scarlett’s body to perform Magic might affect Scarlett herself?
Hearing both her son and grandson criticize Michael Jennings, the Old Lady knew he had a bad attitude, but still...
"Wasn’t Old Second speaking up for me..."
After all, Scarlett never called her grandma, even saying being her grandma deserved divine punishment.
Though she had misjudged people in the past, perhaps unintentionally wronging Scarlett a bit, was it necessary for Scarlett to hold a grudge for so long?
The Old Lady felt wronged too.
Did her granddaughter really have to take it out on her?
Engrossed in her self-pity, she forgot to speak up for Old Second.
The Old Master and the present Jennings family members actually knew Michael Jennings’ nature; always too proud, he never learned his lesson despite setbacks, being older and still less sensible than Chase.
But they couldn’t truly just ignore him.
After a silent pause, the Old Master finally spoke towards Althea,
"Old Second’s attitude was wrong, and he offended you; I can have him apologize.
Knowing that the core of Scarlett Jennings wasn’t his original granddaughter, the Old Master didn’t act condescendingly, instead speaking amicably in negotiation,
If you have other requests, feel free to state them; I, as his father, can promise on his behalf. If you don’t want to hear him speak, once restored, I can have him stay elsewhere for a time."
Though unable to speak, the turtle Michael Jennings could still hear.
Upon hearing his father might send him away, the turtle twisted its head abruptly, displaying a clear expression of disbelief.
The Old Master noticed but remained unmoved.
More concerned about Scarlett’s current state than Michael, he decided to temporarily send him away like Chase, hoping it might lead to some self-improvement.
Having listened for a while, Althea finally stopped petting the fox, sat up a bit, and said,
"Is this what family meetings are, discussing such trivial matters?"
She laughed as she spoke, casually waving her hand, causing the little turtle on the table to be drawn into her palm as though by an unseen thread.
Gently prodding the turtle’s head, Althea firmly stated,
"Though it’s trivial, I find him more agreeable as a turtle than as a person, and I have no demands, just letting it be. Once I am in a better mood, he’ll change back."
Pausing, she then asked seriously, "Or else you could choose to turn him into something else? I can handle it."
This statement elicited varied reactions among the Jennings family members; Old Lady Jennings was about to speak before the Old Master stopped her; Adam attempted to plead but was restrained by Chase.
"Let it be,"
Chase uncharacteristically took the initiative to speak,
"I think being a turtle is fine; Second Uncle’s temperament has become overbearing since divorcing Aunt. Looking at life from a new perspective might do good."
Adam glanced incredulously at Chase.
After all the good his father had shown towards him, how could he wish his father to remain a turtle!
