The person seemed to be hesitating, but in the end, he still stepped out from behind the bushes and revealed himself.

Jie Fu Lian frowned as he looked at the man. He found the man’s face awfully familiar, however, no matter how much he thought about it, he simply could not remember who this was.

"I panicked," Huo Feng almost looked as if he was about to cry as he spoke, "I didn’t mean any harm. I promise!"

Jie Fu Lian didn’t look to be convinced as he heard this.

"What are you doing here?"

"I was just passing by," The man responded without missing a beat.

Jie Fu Lian scoffed as he heard this, "You were just passing by? Are you sure about that? Nobody ever comes to these mountains without a purpose. If I remember correctly then you were from a small sect, weren’t you? Why would a cultivator from a small sect come here?"

Huo Feng gulped as he heard this but avoided eye contact without saying anything. From this reaction alone, it was clear that he was hiding something.

"Why are you here?" Jie Fu Lian repeated his question, his voice sounding a bit deeper than normal.

Huo Feng bit his lip, looking to have been put in a difficult position.

Jie Fu Lian unsheathed Changbo as he repeated the question for the third time, this time, he was clearly threatening the man to give an answer, "Why are you here?"

"You were looking for a river dragon in the beast mountains?" Jie Fu Lian sarcastically questioned, mocking the man.

Huo Feng gave a nod as he spoke, "I shouldn’t be telling you this but... there is a rumor that has been going around."

"A rumor?" Hua Tianshu questioned and the man nodded his head as he enthusiastically confirmed it.

"They say that there is a river dragon living on top of these mountains," Huo Feng spoke as he continued, "Rumor has it that the river dragon can grant wishes."

Jie Fu Lian didn’t look to be very impressed as he heard this.

"It doesn’t matter what the wish is. As long as the river dragon likes you, it would grant any wish that you have."

"So you believed such superstition?" Jie Fu Lian asked in disbelief.

"Of course, not." Huo Feng immediately shook his head as he spoke, "I don’t believe it, but one of my junior martial sisters did and she went in search of the river dragon."

Jie Fu Lian frowned as he heard this but made no comment.

"She left a few months ago but never returned so I decided to go look for her."

"So are you searching for your junior martial sister or are you searching for the river dragon?"
