The Demon Among The Knights-Chapter 29 - 28:The Battle begins part 2: Brianna vs the winged-hand demon
As Daniel stood over the kneeling Dark Winged-Hand Demon, his twin swords glowing faintly, he spoke with a calm yet weary voice, his words cutting through the aftermath of their battle. "I understand now why you couldn’t touch a woman. It wasn’t weakness. It was honor—a sense of restraint even in the depths of your darkness."
The demon chuckled weakly, the sound rasping as black ichor dripped from his mouth. "I see... your backstory... it’s very sorrowful," he said, his voice trembling as his body quivered from the toll of their fight.
He began to close his eyes, his towering form swaying slightly. Daniel stepped forward, placing a steadying hand on his shoulder. "Wait," he said, his voice soft but insistent. "Please, tell me your name. I’ll make sure to remember it."
The demon’s red eyes softened for the first time, a glimmer of humanity flickering in their depths. "It’s... Obscure," he whispered, the word barely audible over the distant sounds of the battlefield. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
With that, his wings drooped, his body folding in on itself as he knelt fully to the ground. His eyes closed for the last time. Daniel bowed his head, his voice filled with solemnity as he whispered, "I’ll never forget you, Obscure."

The battlefield grew silent for a brief, reverent moment. Some knights nearby, locked in combat with other demons, paused as they caught sight of Daniel. One knight whispered in awe, "Was that the demon Sir Daniel was fighting?"
Another, his armor splattered with blood, nodded. "It was. That thing was unbelievably strong."
A third knight, still catching his breath, added, "Yeah, it even turned into a three-headed dragon at one point. I thought we were doomed."
But a fourth interrupted, his voice filled with pride. "It doesn’t matter what it turned into. Sir Daniel won."
The knights erupted into cheers, their morale surging as they raised their weapons in triumph. The sound of their victory cries echoed across the battlefield, a testament to their leader’s strength.
However, amidst the celebration, a lone winged-hand demon roared above the noise, its voice filled with fury. "He defeated our second-in-command!" it bellowed. "Demons, attack!"
The demonic horde surged forward with renewed ferocity. Knights and demons clashed once more, the battlefield descending into a chaotic melee of steel, claws, and blood.
One demon, larger and faster than the rest, broke away from the pack and charged directly at Daniel. Exhausted and barely able to stand, Daniel struggled to lift his swords in time. The demon closed in, its claws gleaming with deadly intent.
Before the fatal blow could land, a thunderous impact sent the demon flying. Ron, the centaur knight, galloped forward, his powerful hooves shaking the ground beneath him. He raised his spear and shouted, "Don’t worry, Daniel! I’ve got all the knights’ backs!"

The battlefield stretched endlessly, a grim expanse littered with the remains of soldiers and demons alike. Smoke and ash choked the air, while the cries of the wounded and the clash of steel created a cacophony of chaos. Amidst the turmoil, Brianna stood at the edge of the fray, her blue aura glowing faintly. Her silver-ranked knight’s armor, though dulled by the grime of battle, radiated a quiet strength. She tightened the ribbon over her eyes, a deliberate act that seemed to anchor her in the moment.
Before her loomed the Winged-Hand Demon, a grotesque monstrosity that towered over even the most formidable knights. Its crimson skin glistened under the dim light, and its grotesque winged hands flexed menacingly. Each movement exuded a sinister energy, as if the demon were a living embodiment of malice. Its red eyes burned with hatred as it mocked her with a gravelly voice.
"You think a blindfold will save you?" the demon sneered, its lips curling into a cruel smile. "Once you see even a glimpse of my forehead, you’ll be trapped in a nightmare forever. Your mind will unravel, and you’ll beg for death."
Brianna stood motionless, her calm demeanor a stark contrast to the chaos around her. She gripped her blade tightly, the leather of the hilt creaking under her fingers. Her silence was unnerving, a quiet defiance that seemed to unsettle the demon. The blue aura around her began to swirl, a cold, ethereal light that shimmered like ice under moonlight.
"I don’t need to see you to defeat you," she said at last, her voice low and steady. "Calling the God of Time, grant me your boon: total disappearance."
In an instant, her body vanished in a burst of blue light. The demon roared in anger, its winged hands lashing out in all directions. Each strike rent the air with a sharp whistle, but they met only emptiness. Brianna’s figure flickered across the battlefield like a ghost, her movements too fast for the eye to follow.
"Is this your strategy?" the demon growled, frustration evident in its tone. "To run and hide like a coward?"
Brianna’s voice echoed, cold and emotionless. "No. I’m studying your movements."
The demon snarled, flapping its grotesque wings to create a whirlwind. The violent gusts disrupted the battlefield, sending debris flying and forcing Brianna to land a few feet away. Despite the storm’s intensity, she stood firm, her boots digging into the blood-soaked earth.
"Time Slow," she whispered.
The world around her seemed to decelerate, the chaotic motions of battle reduced to a sluggish crawl. The demon’s strikes, once impossibly fast, now appeared deliberate and clumsy. Brianna stepped forward, her sword glowing faintly with blue energy. She aimed for the demon’s chest, but her strike faltered. Blindfolded, she couldn’t see her target clearly, and her blade grazed harmlessly past its side.
The demon laughed, a sound that reverberated through the battlefield like a cruel bell. "You’re pathetic!" it mocked. "You can’t even fight without your eyes."
Brianna tightened her grip on her sword, her knuckles whitening. She said nothing, but her aura flared again, the icy light growing in intensity. "Total Time Stop!" she called, her voice cutting through the demon’s jeers.
The battlefield froze. Time itself seemed to halt, locking everything in an eerie stillness. Soldiers paused mid-strike, flames froze in place, and the demon stood motionless, its wings mid-flap, its red eyes burning with silent rage. Brianna approached slowly, her blade poised for a decisive strike. But as she stood before the demon, she hesitated. Blindfolded, she couldn’t confirm the exact location of its heart. The uncertainty gnawed at her, and she stepped back, letting time resume.
The demon, realizing her hesitation, took to the sky with a triumphant roar. It circled her like a vulture, its movements predatory and confident. "This is why you’re weak," it taunted. "You rely too much on tricks and refuse to face me directly."
It dove toward her with terrifying speed, its winged hands slashing in a relentless assault. Brianna evaded each strike with practiced agility, but one claw grazed her arm, drawing blood. She staggered slightly but remained composed, her expression unchanging.
As she dodged another attack, her blue ribbon loosened, falling from her eyes. The demon, seeing her uncovered gaze, grinned wickedly. "Look at me!" it roared. "Fall into my nightmare!"
Brianna dropped to her knees, seemingly defeated. The demon landed before her, its massive form casting a shadow over her. It loomed closer, its victorious grin widening. "See? You’ve fallen to your feet because I am more powerful than you."
Still, Brianna said nothing. Slowly, she rose to her feet, brushing the dirt from her armor. Her piercing gaze locked onto the demon, her cold eyes unflinching. A slight smirk tugged at her lips.
"Calling the God of Time," she said, her voice steady and commanding. "Grant me your boon: Time Warping Slash."
The air around them shifted. The battlefield dissolved into a surreal, timeless dimension, where the ground shimmered like glass and the sky was an endless void. A massive pocket watch materialized behind Brianna, its hands ticking furiously before stopping at twelve o’clock. The demon froze, its body immobilized though its consciousness remained intact.
"What... what is this?" the demon snarled, panic creeping into its voice. "Why aren’t you trapped in my illusion? You’re looking directly at me!"
Brianna stepped forward, her movements deliberate and unhurried. "You’re weak," she said coldly. "When I fell, I was only observing. I looked at your nose, your mouth, your chin. I never looked at your forehead. Your silly illusion was meaningless from the start."
The demon’s red eyes widened in horror. "No... this can’t—"
With a fluid motion, Brianna raised her blade. Her aura flared to its peak, an overwhelming light that seemed to consume the very air around her. In one swift, precise strike, she slashed through the demon’s chest. Her blade glowed with the divine energy of the Time God’s blessing, leaving a trail of light in its wake.
Black blood sprayed from the wound as the demon staggered backward, its body splitting from the force of the strike. It collapsed to its knees, coughing ichor. Its once-mighty wings drooped, and its grotesque hands hung limply at its sides.
"If I had trained with my brother, I would have known this sooner," Brianna said, her voice devoid of emotion. "But it doesn’t matter. You’re still weak."
The demon let out a final, gurgling roar before crumpling to the ground. Its body dissolved into a pool of black ichor, its presence erased from the battlefield. Brianna sheathed her blade, her blue aura fading as she turned away. Her calm expression remained unbroken, her steps steady as she walked toward the next battle.
The battlefield was momentarily silent, the knights and demons alike frozen in awe of what they had just witnessed. Slowly, a wave of cheers erupted among the human soldiers, their morale surging. Brianna paid them no mind, her focus already shifting to the next challenge.
Far in the distance, another demon roared, its voice carrying a promise of vengeance. Brianna tightened her grip on her sword, her blue aura flickering back to life. The battle was far from over.
