Chapter 28: Chapter 27:The Battle Begins part 1: Daniel vs. the Dark Winged-Hand Demon

The battlefield was a storm of chaos—night skies rent apart by bolts of lightning, clashing steel ringing through the air, and the anguished cries of the injured filling the spaces between. The air smelled of blood and ash, a testament to the relentless war between light and darkness. Amidst this maelstrom, Daniel stood firm, his silver armor gleaming like a beacon of hope against the despair around him. His purple aura swirled violently, a storm barely contained, threatening to break loose with devastating force. Across from him, the Dark Winged-Hand Demon towered, his grey aura exuding death and decay like a miasma. His twisted grin betrayed both pride and malice.

"You will fall today, knight," the demon growled, his voice a guttural echo that resonated with unnatural power.

Daniel clenched his sword tightly, his voice resolute and unwavering. "God of Matter, guide me through this trial."

The ground between them cracked under the weight of their auras as the two forces collided. The Dark Winged-Hand Demon roared, his grotesque form shifting as his hands morphed into jagged blades that gleamed with an otherworldly sheen. "Hell Technique: Sharp Arms!" he bellowed, his limbs elongating unnaturally, slicing through the air with deadly precision.

Daniel sidestepped, the razor-sharp appendages missing him by a hair’s breadth. His movements were precise, calculated, and he raised his sword high, calling upon the divine power that coursed through him. "Gaseous State: Foggy Mist!" A dense, shimmering vapor erupted from his form, enveloping the battlefield in a blinding haze. His golden armor disappeared into the mist, leaving the demon grasping at shadows.

The demon grunted in frustration, his blade-like arms slashing wildly through the fog. Each swing carved through the vapor, but the knight remained elusive. "You think you can hide from me, knight?" he spat, his voice dripping with scorn. His eyes darted around the battlefield, his frustration mounting as the mist seemed to taunt him.

Suddenly, Daniel burst from the fog, his sword glowing with radiant energy. With a fierce battle cry, he slashed at the demon’s torso, the blade searing through flesh and leaving a deep, glowing wound that sizzled with holy light. Black blood sprayed onto the ground, hissing as it burned through the scorched earth. The demon roared in agony, but the pain only seemed to fuel his malice.

Yet, despite the injury, the Dark Winged-Hand Demon merely grinned, his wound knitting itself back together with an almost mocking ease. "Is that all you have?" he sneered, his body contorting as spikes erupted from his shoulders. With blinding speed, he lunged at Daniel, his jagged arms arcing toward the knight with lethal intent.

Daniel met the strike head-on, his sword clashing against the demon’s blades. Sparks flew as their auras collided, creating a shockwave that rippled through the battlefield, sending lesser demons sprawling. A few dared to approach, their twisted forms eager to assist their leader, but the Dark Winged-Hand Demon snarled, his voice a thunderous command.

"Stay out of this!" he roared, his blade-like arm cleaving through the approaching demons in a single, ruthless swipe. Their decapitated bodies fell lifelessly to the ground as the demon turned his full attention back to Daniel. "This is my fight!"

Seizing the moment, Daniel delivered a powerful blow to the demon’s side, his sword glowing with divine energy. The impact sent the Dark Winged-Hand Demon skidding across the battlefield, his grey aura flickering like a dying flame.

"You seek honor in battle, yet you serve the depths of hell," Daniel said, his voice cold and steady. "Why fight me alone when you could overwhelm me with your kind?"

The demon chuckled darkly, his body twisting as he rose to his feet. "Honor is all I have left, knight. Do not mistake my hatred for weakness."

Daniel’s purple aura flared, his resolve unwavering as he readied another strike. "Then prove yourself worthy of that honor."

With a snarl, the demon’s arms transformed into massive axes, their edges dripping with corrosive ichor that hissed as it touched the ground. "Gladly," he said, charging forward with renewed ferocity.

They clashed again, their strikes shaking the earth beneath them. Blood splattered across the battlefield, mingling in a grotesque display of red and black—divine and infernal. The Dark Winged-Hand Demon swung one of his axe-arms with terrifying speed, aiming for Daniel’s head. The knight ducked just in time, countering with an upward slash that severed the axe-arm clean off. The demon howled in pain but laughed through it, his severed limb regenerating instantly. This time, it morphed into a spiked flail that whirled menacingly in the air.

"You can’t kill me, knight," the demon hissed, swinging the flail with devastating force.

Daniel blocked the attack with his sword, but the sheer impact sent him sliding backward. His golden armor cracked slightly under the strain, and blood trickled from his lip. The battlefield around them had transformed into a hellscape—craters marked their strikes, scorched earth bore witness to their power, and the lifeless bodies of demons littered the ground.

Neither combatant showed any sign of relenting, their power colliding in a relentless dance of destruction. The Dark Winged-Hand Demon sneered, his grey aura swirling around him like a storm. "You’ve fought well, knight," he said, his voice dripping with condescension. "But do you understand the true breadth of my power?"

His body began to morph in a grotesque display of sinew and bone, shifting and contorting until he resembled a monstrous rhino with a hammer-like head. "I can become any beast, any weapon," he declared, charging at Daniel with earth-shattering force.

Daniel braced himself, crossing his dual swords to block the onslaught. The impact sent him skidding backward, his feet carving trenches into the earth. Blood dripped from his hands, staining the ground below as he struggled to maintain his footing.

The demon roared, shifting forms again. This time, he became a serpent, his coiled body snapping toward Daniel with lightning speed. Then he transformed into a bear, its massive claws gouging deep trenches into the ground. "You see?" the demon sneered. "I am chaos itself!"

As the demon shifted once more, he took on the form of a human woman with a delicate gown and long flowing brown hair, her delicate figure unarmed and her expression calm, almost mocking. Daniel hesitated, his blades lowering slightly as he studied this new form.

"You won’t strike a woman, will you?" the demon taunted, tilting her head with a sly smile. "How noble of you, knight."

Daniel stood firm, his purple aura glowing brightly, but his swords remained unmoving. The demon sighed, her form twisting back into a monstrous wolf with grey skin and red eyes. "Foolish, but I respect your code knight," he said. "Let us finish this battle as warriors gold knight."

The demon’s body contorted and shifted uncontrollably, becoming an amalgamation of animals and weapons. His arms transformed into serrated blades, his legs into the powerful limbs of a lion, and his torso was covered in metallic scales. Finally, he morphed into a three-headed dragon with wings made of swords. Each head spewed fire, their combined roars shaking the battlefield.

Daniel, battered and bloodied, stood tall. His purple aura flared brighter than ever, enveloping him in divine light. Raising his two swords, he called upon the full power of the God of Matter. "Calling the God of Matter: Three States Combined—One Slash Demonic Slayer!"

As he swung his blades, the air around him crystallized into a shimmering purple shockwave. The wave shot forward, carving through the battlefield with deadly precision.

The demon roared, gathering a massive fireball in his three dragon mouths. With one mighty exhale, he unleashed it toward Daniel’s attack.

The purple shockwave collided with the fiery onslaught in an explosion that rocked the earth. The sky lit up with blinding light as the two forces clashed, sending shockwaves that tore apart the ground.

Then the shockwave slashed through the demon, cutting through its form as if it were nothing more than a fragile illusion. The demon let out a painful scream as its body twisted, its once-terrifying shape melting back into a more human-like appearance, leaving behind only a deep, glowing "X" on its chest—a mark of defeat. With a final, weak growl, the demon collapsed onto its knees, trembling as life began to slip from its body. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Before the demon passed, its eyes locked with Daniel’s, filled with a strange sense of resolve. Its voice, raspy and barely audible, came as a final plea. "Daniel... can you... tell me why... you can never hit a woman?" The words hung heavy in the air, a last request from a being who had spent its life tearing through souls, yet in this moment, it sought the answer to something so simple, yet so complex.

Daniel stood silently, his sword still in hand, the weight of the question pressing on him. He could see the demon’s once-merciless eyes fading, replaced by a glimmer of understanding. As the demon’s breath grew shallow, Daniel sighed deeply. He lowered his sword, his stance softening. "Since this is your last wish, and you are a demon with honor, I will tell you."

He took a step forward, his voice steady but heavy with years of unspoken thoughts. "Well, it all started nine years ago."

"To be continued.... "
