The Comeback of the Charming Farmer's Wife-Chapter 2311 - 23013: Second Branch Disagrees
Old Mu saw the opponent being so agreeable and snorted inwardly, hoping you’d still be this agreeable when you return.
"It should be so."
Old Master Luo saw Old Mu sitting there, not speaking much, yet exuding presence. He felt suffocated; a mere progeny living better than he did.
He actually didn’t want the family to separate, as the family stayed together, he would remain the Eldest and head the family. Even if Old Mu was the State Duke, he would still have to listen to him, and Old Mu’s official salary, festival gifts, various tributes would be contributed to the main family treasury. Those fine things would eventually belong to him and his sons.
Unfortunately, even though he had his plans well laid out, Old Mu wasn’t someone he could control.
Moreover, in the Capital City, no family with a grandchild still lived together like theirs; he wanted to maintain such face.
After a while, Second Luo and his wife came over.
Old Mu directly said, "Everyone is present, so I’ll speak plainly. When Linhao moved, he said everything in Luo Residence, including properties, deeds, and silver, our third branch doesn’t want a single penny."
Upon hearing this, Second Luo and his wife brightened up, with the third branch letting go, it meant the first and second branches could divide more. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Old Master Luo, however, didn’t feel it was such a fortunate matter.
Sure enough, Old Mu quickly followed, "I have only one request. From today on, our third branch will separate from the Luo family clan, reconstruct our genealogy, and become our own branch."
"That’s impossible!" Old Mu had barely finished speaking when Eldest Luo and Second Luo both disagreed.
How could this be done? Though the branches may distance post-separation, they were still one family. Should trouble arise, without the third branch’s aid, they could be overwhelmed by criticism alone. But separating from the clan meant they were technically no longer family; if the first or second branches faced issues, the third would have no obligation to assist.
Not just the first and second branches disagreed, even the Luo clan members objected.
For a clan to produce an inheritable State Duke bore great honor; if detached, such glory and brilliance had no relation with their clan anymore.
"Impossible?" Old Mu glanced at the gathering before signaling someone to bring out certain items, "Look at these first, then decide your agreement."
Did they truly believe he came without any preparation?
Old Mu’s attendant distributed the items Old Mu brought to the clan members and Eldest Luo and Second Luo’s hands. Moments later, they saw everyone’s faces turn pale.
"Thirty years ago, my mother was poisoned by Old Madam Luo, over a decade ago, my wife was poisoned within the residence, even my son was abducted from the residence. The Luo family’s old mansion seemed grand beyond approach to outsiders, yet to me, it was a miniature battlefield. I defended the family honor externally, annually bringing back substantial wealth, giving clan juniors good prospects, but the Luo family cannot accommodate my wife and children, thus I can only detach from the clan."
Dark-faced, Old Master Luo replied, "Third, your concubine and your wife clearly died from illness, how could they be poisoned? Wanting to leave the clan, not wanting Luo family members to share in your honor, I can understand, but such slanderous words, cannot be tolerated by our Luo clan."
"Do you think I’d be here without evidence?"
Darkening his gaze, Old Mu swept his eyes over the first and second branch members, then clapped his hands. Two women entered, one about sixty and the other around forty.
"These two, one served the Old Madam back then, the other served Linhao’s mother."
