The Classmate Who Is Adored by Everyone Smiles Teasingly Only at Me-Chapter 2V1 . - Smiling Strawberry Parfait
Smiling Strawberry Parfait 2
After school, when Sōma finished his cleaning duties and headed towards the station, Chika greeted him with her usual bright smile.
“Sorry, I’m late.”
“Oh, it’s totally fine.”
Sōma apologized, but Chika seemed rather excited.
“I’ve never arrived before someone and waited like this before, so I was feeling excited.”
“You get excited about things like this?”
“Well, you see, when I go out with Miki-chan, she always comes to pick me up, so I never have to wait alone. She was worried about what if someone tried to pick me up or kidnap me.”
“She’s way too overprotective.”
Sōma now could understand why Chika had strongly pleaded not to tell Miki about their plans.
“Thanks to you, Sōma-san, I already accomplished one thing I wanted to do.”
“We just met at the meeting spot, though.”
Sōma teased lightly, and Chika giggled with a shy expression.
“By the way, what are we doing today?”
As Sōma said he wanted to try some tasting at a certain shop, he left all the planning and decisions to Chika because making plans was one of the things she wanted to do.
“Today, we’re going shopping!”
“You’ve never shopped before?”
When Sōma widened his eyes, Chika looked somewhat dejected and pouted.
“I already did that many times. But it’s always just errands to the supermarket or convenience store. I’ve never had a chance to choose a store and pick out what I want to buy by myself. So, I’ve decided to take the first step towards being an adult and do some shopping!”
Somehow, she seemed like an elementary school student with a budding sense of independence.
“Actually, there are a few stores I’ve wanted to go to for a while. But Miki-chan says it’s too early for me to go to those stores, so she hasn’t taken me there. That’s why I thought, since I finally have a chance, I’ll challenge myself to do some shopping there by myself.”

Chika took out her smartphone from her school bag and showed Sōma a list of the stores she wanted to visit.
Sōma, as a guy, didn’t recognize most of the stores, but from their names, he guessed they were mainly variety stores and clothing shops.
“Ah, Sōma-san, I’ll just make sure to remind you that I’ll be shopping by myself, so please don’t help me.”
“I know. That’s our promise.”
“But being all alone can make me feel a bit uneasy, so please stay by my side.”
“I promise that too. I’ll just be following Chika all day today. In return, please guide me properly. I don’t want to be a lost child at this age.”
“I won’t let us get lost!”
Honesty, seeing Chika puffing her cheeks childishly made him feel a slight concern.
“I’m not that much of a child. I’ve already checked the locations of the stores beforehand.”
“Alright, alright. In that case, I leave everything to you, so guide me.”
“Yes! Let’s go!”
Saying that, Chika energetically started walking, swinging her arm around.
“By the way, what about Saito? Is she attending the student council again today?”
While walking beside her, he suddenly got curious and asked.
“No, she’s free today. She invited me to hang out, but I declined because I have something to do.”
Miki’s disappointed face came to mind.
“If she finds out about this, she might half-kill me.”
“Come on, it wouldn’t be that bad.”
He shrugged, but Chika laughed as if she heard an amusing joke.
“More than half of it is not a joke.”
“It’s fine. When I declined, she went home right away.”
Upon hearing this, Sōma realized that he had never seen Miki together with classmates other than Chika.
“Maybe she doesn’t have any friends other than Chika?”
“It’s not like that… probably.”
“It seems like she’s not ready to let go of her child. Once Chika becomes more independent, he might end up being a loner.”
“Sōma-san, I’m not Miki-chan’s child!”
“It’s kinda the same thing, right?”
“I’m the same age and in the same grade as you and Miki-chan.”
“Well, technically… kind of.”
“Technically… Uh, I’ll become a strong adult soon and show you!”
When Sōma teased her a bit, Chika became a little downhearted.
‘…She really acts like a child, doesn’t she?’
Every gesture and action makes her seem childish.
It was not hard to see why Miki was worried about her and began to care about her.
Chika, full of high spirits, headed to a shop that sold character goods.
“Oh…?”
Unconsciously, such an amazement slipped out.
Adorable cat-themed character goods were displayed all over the store.
From plush toys to towels, T-shirts, acrylic stands, stationery, mugs, and plates.
It was all about cats, cats, cats.
It was truly impressive, in a way.
‘What is this place?’ Sōma felt overwhelmed by the atmosphere, but the majority of female customers in the store seemed completely unfazed.
They all had their eyes sparkling like jewels, looking at cat-themed goods.
And as soon as Chika stepped inside the store, she became one of those customers.
“Wow, Nyanchan! I’ve been wanting to meet you!”
She raised her voice in a childish, high-pitched tone and hugged a big-sized plush toy tightly.
“This is so cute! Don’t you think so too, Sōma-san?”
“Uh, yeah, it’s cute, but…”
He awkwardly nodded in response to the innocent question and then asked,
“Is this the store that Saito said is too early for you to visit?”
“Yes, that’s right. Isn’t it awful that I can’t go here? Even though it’s so cute!”
He wondered what made this fancy store too early for high school girls.
Maybe it’s not too early, but too late.
