The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 147: The Man Looking for Trouble on Purpose
"How do you know she’s not willing?"
"Because she’s screaming for help."
Jasper Yale saw Yelena Hughes about to leave, and he blocked her way.
Yelena Hughes frowned deeply, "Young Master Yale, what are you trying to do?"
"Just because someone is screaming for help, does that definitely mean they’re in danger? That they’re the victim?"
Yelena Hughes knew that nothing is absolute.
Inside, after Walsh found out that Yelena Hughes hadn’t left yet, she quickly let someone out.
The woman opened the gate, looked nervously at Jasper Yale, and then walked to his side.
"Young Master, let’s go."
Jasper Yale glanced at her, "Where to?"
"I will listen to you." She no longer sought help from Yelena Hughes, looking like a completely different person from just now, "Walsh gave me a check for a million, Young Master, we can go anywhere you want."
Jasper Yale cast a cold glance inside the courtyard, and Yelena Hughes saw that the girl was willing, so there was no need to worry about her safety.
She was in a hurry to find a cat for someone else, and standing in front of them, Yelena Hughes felt like an unnecessary presence.
She quickly left, not even saying goodbye to Jasper Yale.
They were originally supposed to return to being strangers.
Jasper Yale watched Yelena Hughes’s departing figure; vines in the courtyard climbed over the walls, and as the wind gently blew, their shadows fell upon her shoulders.
He found himself somewhat entranced.
Earlier, Yelena Hughes heard that Jasper Yale had spent a million on this girl.
It seemed he was quite fond of her.
After she walked far away, Walsh came out from the courtyard, leaning against the doorframe with a smile, "That’s so funny, why didn’t you explain to her?"
Jasper Yale seemed a little irritated, "Don’t you find this boring?"
Walsh shrugged, "It’s quite amusing."
The woman, dressed lightly, was now shivering from the cold, calling out "sis" with every word, "I said what you told me, can you let me go now?"
"Let you go? If you don’t return my money tonight, you won’t be going anywhere."
Walsh snapped her fingers, and the woman was dragged back into the courtyard. She opened her mouth to shout again, "Help—"
Before the words could fully leave her mouth, Walsh slapped her across the face, "Noisy."
With her mouth covered, she was dragged inside. Walsh’s high heels clacked on the hard stone slabs, "Aren’t I clever? This way your little fling won’t call the police, though it’s a shame for Young Master Yale that her misunderstanding of you will deepen."
"I’m leaving now."
Jasper Yale walked a few steps away, looking quite displeased, with Hailey Jenkins following closely behind.
"Young Master," Hailey noticed he seemed off, and tried to speak up, "Should I go and explain things to Miss Hughes?"
Jasper Yale suddenly stopped, causing Hailey to almost bump into him.
Jasper Yale turned around, the light casting a shadow over the lake, reflecting a brooding and sinister face, "Do you actually believe we’re going backwards by explaining?"
"Who is she to you that you have to represent me and give her an explanation?"
Hailey shrank back, even if he misunderstood, there was no need for Young Master to be so angry.
Besides, did he really guess wrong?
Young Master Yale clearly seemed quite displeased.
It wasn’t until late into the night that Yelena Hughes finally persuaded an old lady to come down from the roof.
The old lady was clutching a cat, crying while speaking, but no one could understand what she was saying.
Yelena Hughes stayed inside, patiently comforting her until she fell asleep, and only then did she leave.
Dean Holloway was almost asleep himself, finally seeing her come out, "My goodness, that old lady nearly wore me out. Do you think it’s worth it for a cat?"
"It is worth it." Yelena Hughes pulled her collar tight and walked forward with Dean, "She has no other family. Dean, I can’t imagine if one day I found myself alone in the world, would I still have the courage..."
Hearing this, Dean Holloway quickly covered Yelena Hughes’s mouth.
"It’s the New Year, can’t we talk about something more cheerful? You have your parents and sister, and you have me!"
Yelena Hughes smiled, her eyes softening as she pulled down Dean’s hand. People’s emotions are always influenced by others, and she was soon going to pass by that courtyard.
Yelena Hughes paused, confirming that no one was at the door, and then she continued on.
It was so late already; Jasper Yale couldn’t possibly be there.
He had just found a new girl, and they were probably too busy going up to Whisperwind Peaks to come back.
...
On the eighth day of the new year, The Sovereign Club was bustling with excitement.
The play area was taken over by wealthy patrons, amidst the vibrancy and allure, it was hard to find someone as composed and restrained as Jasper Yale.
Yet the more he was like this, the more nervous Madeline Forest felt.
She felt like his eyes were fixated on her like a hawk, and Madeline Forest thought she was just there to do her job properly, why would she have offended this man?
The girls arranged by Chester came in one after another, only to be driven out by Jasper Yale, leaving only Madeline Forest in the private room.
After three glasses of wine, Jasper Yale leaned back on the sofa, his hazy gaze fixed on her, staring intently.
Madeline Forest felt a chill down her spine. She nervously offered a glass of wine, "Young Master."
Jasper Yale took it in his hand, the glass touching his lips. His lips parted slightly as Madeline Forest saw his tongue touch the rim of the glass.
"!"
What kind of game was this?
With a sudden clatter, before Madeline Forest could react, wine splashed onto her face, chilling her. The glass had been thrown onto the table by Jasper Yale.
"You spiked the wine?"
"?" I wouldn’t dare do something like that! Madeline Forest shook her head emphatically, "Young Master, I’d never dare do such a thing, I really didn’t."
Chester, having been informed and wanting to enter, was stopped outside.
No matter how much she pleaded, she could not get in.
Alone with a man, in a room with a spiked drink, who knows what might happen?
Jasper Yale casually loosened his tie and stood up, his towering figure casting a shadow over Madeline Forest’s shrinking form.
She let out a sharp scream.
She had seen bruises and marks on Yelena Hughes before, which indicated that Jasper Yale was not gentle when it came to intimacy.
He wouldn’t do something to her, would he? Madeline Forest clutched her collar tightly, "No, don’t do anything foolish! I am virtuous and only here to serve drinks!"
Jasper Yale inserted one hand by his waist, his gaze icy, "I’ll give you a chance to make a call for help, but you can only make one."
Feeling wronged, Madeline Forest took out her phone, wanting desperately to call the police in front of Jasper Yale.
Her fingers hovered over the numbers on the screen, ready to tap 911, but after seeing Jasper Yale’s calm, ink-black eyes, she hastily exited the page.
There was no one she could turn to, except Yelena Hughes.
Madeline Forest found her number, trembling as she dialed, and Jasper Yale glanced at Yelena Hughes’s name but said nothing.
"Hello, Madeline."
As soon as the call connected, Madeline Forest pleaded for help, "Yelena, I’m in a bit of trouble here."
"What happened?"
"Young Master is at The Sovereign Club tonight, and he said... he said I drugged his drink."
