Chapter 146: Chapter 146: His New Flame

Yelena Hughes was grabbed by the shoulder and forcibly dragged inside, completely ignorant of what was happening.

"Let go of me!"

Hailey Jenkins walked up to her, "Miss Hughes, what a coincidence to bump into you like this, you’ll have to bear with it for now."

"No, don’t drag me into your business, I haven’t seen anything!"

But at this point, Hailey Jenkins was not in a position to decide.

Yelena Hughes and that woman were pushed into a room simultaneously.

The bodyguard showed no mercy, treating her like a ragged sack, causing Yelena Hughes to stumble forward.

Once she settled, she saw Jasper Yale, her gaze shifted to the side, and there was Walsh.

Walsh remembered her clearly, waving at her, "We meet again."

The girl beside Yelena Hughes suddenly dropped to her knees, "Please, spare me, let me go."

Yelena Hughes immediately understood what had happened in this room earlier.

After Jasper Yale kicked her out, he would certainly look for new people, and Walsh was responsible for helping him choose.

The woman was trembling in fear, her shoulders shaking, while Walsh got up to pull her. "Stop crying, such a pretty face, don’t cry your eyes swollen."

She backed away, bumping into Yelena Hughes’ leg, and instinctively grabbed her hand, "Sister, please help me, save me."

Yelena Hughes stood there stiffly; how could she help? She couldn’t even save herself.

Walsh, resting her chin on her hand, glanced at Yelena Hughes with a playful smile, "You should ask this sister, being chosen by me is a blessing; you’ll thank me later."

Jasper Yale picked up a cup of tea, lightly brushing his fingers on its rim, his eyes never truly meeting Yelena Hughes’.

"Watch your words, she’s a journalist."

Upon hearing this, Walsh pretended to cover her mouth, then laughed, "I didn’t say anything, and journalists can’t just publish news randomly."

"I was just passing by, dragged in for no reason; can I leave now?"

But the woman on the ground clung to Yelena Hughes, "Sister, please save me, don’t leave. If you leave me here alone, they’ll kill me."

The girl looked pitiable, crying miserably, and Yelena Hughes, familiar with Jasper Yale’s methods, knew he was likely going to use force.

But how could she save her?

She was an arm against Jasper Yale’s thigh, impossible.

Walsh, with a look of enjoying the drama, glanced at Jasper Yale, "Why don’t you take this journalist away first? I’ll handle this girl."

"If she wants to leave, let her go."

Now Jasper Yale’s eyes were filled with fresh faces; Yelena Hughes was at least aware of that.

Walsh suppressed her laughter and shifted her gaze to Yelena Hughes, "Why not try persuading her? You’re experienced; some things are easier coming from you."

Yelena Hughes looked as if the knife had already pressed against her face, another inch deeper and it would cut her skin.

"You’re the expert here. As for being experienced, I couldn’t match up to you."

She wasn’t wrong, but Walsh’s expression changed slightly.

Jasper Yale’s presence exuded a dangerous chill, "Yelena Hughes, what are you saying?"

Walsh hurriedly got up, blocking Jasper Yale, preventing Yelena Hughes from seeing his expression clearly.

"Just kidding," Walsh’s stiff lips forced a smile, "What’s the big deal?"

She walked up to Jasper Yale, naturally placing a hand on his shoulder, "You should go; staying here isn’t good. If word gets out, your reputation will suffer, won’t it?"

Seeing Yelena Hughes being tugged on by that woman, Walsh ordered her people, "What are you standing there for? Pull them apart."

The woman clung to Yelena Hughes like a lifeline.

But the men weren’t lenient, easily prying her away.

Yelena Hughes watched in horror as this scene of plunder unfolded before her eyes.

"Not leaving?" As soon as Jasper Yale finished speaking, Yelena Hughes turned and walked out.

The woman was also taken into the room next door, leaving Jasper Yale’s ear free of noise.

"When are you going to change careers? I’ll provide the money, you provide the work."

Walsh sat back in her original spot, lighting a cigarette, "Better worry about yourself."

"What’s wrong with me?" Jasper Yale’s voice, usually so pleasant, was tinged with coldness.

"This Miss Hughes surely misunderstood you, likely thinking you’re abducting women. I bet she’s hiding somewhere crying."

Jasper Yale’s brow slightly wrinkled, "You seem blind to everything."

"Blind to what? The way you look at her is different, if this misunderstanding isn’t cleared up, it’ll be deadly."

Jasper Yale remained seated, unmoved, "I’m done with her."

"Why?"

Facing Walsh, Jasper Yale didn’t hide anything, revealing all that Miss Hughes had done.

"Hahaha—" Walsh laughed, covering her mouth, laughing so hard she was shaking, tears almost falling.

"So vicious, quick and precise, ha—I like it!"

Jasper Yale looked at her with a cold face, Walsh wiping her tears, "Oh my, she looked so proper, how could she harbor such malice? But I really like it."

"Stop complicating things, just shut up."

Jasper Yale said, rising to his feet as one of Walsh’s men walked over, "Sis, what do you want to do with that woman?"

"Humph, took my money and refused to work, trying to run off with a man. Do you even need to ask? Get her to spit out the money."

With Jasper Yale on his way out, Walsh looked around the courtyard; Yelena Hughes was long gone.

"Won’t Miss Hughes go to the police?"

She toppled Nancy Alden, a mere phone call to the police is nothing.

Yelena Hughes stood outside the wall, glanced at the house number.

She wasn’t without hesitation, after all, Jasper Yale and Walsh were trouble.

But could she really just walk away?

Yelena Hughes dialed a few numbers on her screen, just about to make the call when she heard the door open behind her.

She instinctively hid her arm behind her back, a move Jasper Yale saw clearly.

"Were you going to call the police?"

Yelena Hughes gripped her phone tightly, "No."

Jasper Yale walked toward her; the road at the courtyard entrance bordered the lakeside, very narrow, and Yelena Hughes stepped back slightly.

"How did you end up here?" Jasper Yale’s voice came from above her head.

"I got a call, came for the news."

Yelena Hughes wasn’t eager to approach him either, trying her best to avoid him, but tonight unfolded unexpectedly.

"After witnessing that, your sense of justice must be overflowing, right?"

Yelena Hughes felt a stone bench brush her leg, she couldn’t retreat further.

She stopped and looked directly at Jasper Yale, "If you have skills, make that girl willing, don’t use force."

Were his methods unsavory and calling the police actually wrong?
