The Cat-Like Miss Preston: Mr. CEO begs for Reconciliation!-Chapter 130: Kiss Me, Will You?
Without a glance at him, Luna Kane picked up some food with her chopsticks and said slowly, "I told you Chloe Preston’s belly is getting bigger. We can’t delay this any longer. Go and get the marriage certificate tomorrow."
"What kind of situation is this, for her to go on without an official title?"
With that, she raised her eyes to Donovan Xavier. "Did you hear me? Go to bed early tonight, and make sure you look sharp tomorrow."
Donovan Xavier smiled faintly. "Okay."
"Absolutely not!" Caleb Xavier interrupted them, his voice thick with anger.
Luna Kane tilted her head, giving him a cold, sideways glance. "What? Do you have an objection?"
"Luna, I will never agree to Donovan marrying this woman. You of all people should know he and Rosalind have had a marriage arrangement since they were children."
Luna Kane set down her chopsticks, took a sip of hot tea, and said blandly, "A marriage arrangement can be made, and it can be broken. It’s not a big deal."
She glanced at Ian Xavier. "Tomorrow, go to the Rowan family in person. Tell them the marriage arrangement is void and that the Xavier family will owe them a favor for this."
Ian Xavier looked troubled. "Mom, that arrangement has been in place for so many years, and Rosalind has been waiting for Donovan all this time. How can we just cancel it like that?"
Luna Kane’s gaze turned icy as she glared at him. "And isn’t this all your fault for setting up some ridiculous marriage arrangement for him in the first place? This is all on you!"
"Mom!" Ian cried out.
"I’m telling you," Luna Kane said, "if you don’t cancel this arrangement, then from now on, I am no longer your mother!"
Sitting beside her, Caleb Xavier reached for her hand. "Luna, has that Chloe Preston bewitched you? Why are you helping her so much?"
Luna Kane slapped his hand away. "I’m helping her because my grandson is in love with her." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Caleb remained stubborn. "I don’t care. I still don’t agree. It’s one thing for him to support her, but she is absolutely forbidden from entering the gates of the Xavier family!"
Ian Xavier, sitting to the side, meekly added, "Mom, I agree with Dad."
Chloe Preston heard every word, her gaze falling to the floor.
Donovan Xavier looked at her and squeezed her hand tightly. His palm was so warm it sent heat through her entire body.
Luna Kane sat in her chair, her expression unreadable. She beckoned to a servant. "Bring my wheelchair over."
The servant complied.
Caleb asked quietly, "Luna, what are you doing?"
"Returning to Ryston."
What!
Caleb panicked instantly, gripping her shoulders. "No, you can’t go back!"
She finally agreed to come back. He had to keep her by his side. He absolutely could not let her go!
Luna Kane viciously shoved him away. "Get lost! Don’t touch me!"
"Luna." Caleb looked at her, the rims of his eyes turning red.
She gave him a cold look. "Did you really think I came back for no reason?"
If it weren’t for her grandson, she would rather die than set foot in the Xavier family home ever again.
With a servant’s help, she settled into the wheelchair with some difficulty.
Panicked, Caleb dropped to one knee, his hands gripping the wheelchair’s frame. "Luna, don’t go! Luna, I’m begging you, please don’t leave me!"
Ian also rose and stepped forward. "Mom, now that you’re back, can’t we just live together as a family? Dad has missed you so much."
Luna Kane gave them a detached glance, her fingers rolling over her Buddha Beads. "Then, can my grandson marry Chloe?"
Silence fell over the room.
Seeing that none of them spoke, Luna’s voice grew cold again. "In that case, it’s best that I leave."
"No, no, you can’t leave me!" Caleb said frantically. "As for the wedding, it’s so late now. Let’s just discuss it properly another day!"
He would delay it for as long as he could. In any case, he would never agree to let Chloe Preston into the family.
Luna Kane shot him a look. "I have one question for you. They are going to get their marriage license tomorrow. Do you agree or not?"
Caleb tried to change the subject. "Luna, you barely ate anything. How about..."
"Answer me," she cut in sharply.
Caleb slowly straightened up, his voice heavy. "Luna, must you be like this?"
"I don’t like this woman. I raised Donovan myself, and I cannot accept him marrying her."
Standing behind him, Ian chimed in, "Mom, Dad has his reasons for disliking her. With her family background, she’s nowhere near good enough for the Xavier family."
"And her father is nothing but a hopeless alcoholic. How can we become in-laws with people like that? Imagine what people would say! We’d be a laughingstock!"
Luna Kane’s voice was devoid of emotion. "So, when it comes down to it, you’re dead set against it, right?"
"Yes," Ian stated firmly.
Luna Kane looked up at him. "Come closer."
Ian stepped forward and bent down slightly. "Mom, what is it?"
Without warning, Luna Kane grabbed his ear and twisted it mercilessly.
"Ow! That hurts!" Ian struggled and begged, "Mom, it hurts! Please let go!"
She threw him off forcefully. "I truly regret giving birth to a creature like you. You’re cut from the same cloth as your father!"
"Butler, push me out!"
Caleb stepped forward to block her path, his voice deep and commanding. "Luna, I will not let you leave again, no matter what!"
Luna Kane met his gaze. "Fine. I won’t leave if you let them get married."
Caleb refused to yield. "Luna, I can agree to anything else, but not this."
"This concerns the Xavier family’s honor! Donovan is the grandson I am most proud of. I will absolutely not allow him to marry a gambler’s daughter. If he does, I will die right in front of him!"
Luna Kane’s voice was chilling. "If you don’t agree to their marriage, I will die in front of you first!"
"Luna Kane, you wouldn’t dare!" Caleb roared.
Luna sneered. "I dare anything. It’s not like I haven’t died before. I’ve had more than my fill of life."
"Tomorrow, if any of you dare to stop them from getting their marriage license, I swear I will die right here for all of you to see!"
It’s true what they say; everyone has someone who can keep them in check.
Caleb’s face was grim as he stood in a silent standoff with her, his lips pressed into a thin line. The room was quiet for a long time.
Finally, he let out a faint, resigned sigh, then turned and walked out the door.
Leaning back in her wheelchair, Luna Kane looked toward Donovan. "Your grandfather has agreed," she said softly. "The rest is up to you. Make sure you treat her well."
Donovan Xavier held Chloe’s hand, his gaze gentle and his voice low. "Thank you, Grandma."

「Late that night.」
Luna Kane had returned to her room to rest. Caleb Xavier stood at her door, clutching a pillow. He knocked gently. "Luna, I know you’re still awake. Can I come in?"
There was no response from inside.
Caleb knocked again. "Luna, please open the door. We’re husband and wife, shouldn’t we sleep together?"
"Get lost!" a voice shot back from within.
Undeterred, Caleb pressed his lips together and continued, "Luna, I’m scared to sleep alone. Can you please..."
"Go to hell!" The cold voice from inside was filled with utter disgust.

「Meanwhile, in another room.」
Chloe Preston sat on the bed, gently sponging Donovan down with warm water. She changed the dressing on his wounds, carefully wrapping them with fresh gauze, trying not to hurt him.
"Chloe, kiss me, please?" Donovan Xavier watched her, his voice low.
Chloe smiled, leaned in, and planted a soft peck on his handsome face.
"Not on the cheek."
Chloe then gave his lips a light kiss.
"Not on the lips either."
With a helpless sigh, Chloe moved lower, pressing a kiss to his sharp Adam’s apple. Worried that wasn’t enough, she planted two more kisses just below it.
"There. Are you satisfied now?"
Donovan’s Adam’s apple bobbed sharply as he struggled to restrain himself. "Mm," he managed to get out.
Saying nothing more, Chloe turned and went to the walk-in closet to get a set of pajamas.
Donovan watched her go, a smile playing on his lips.
"What are you smiling about?" Chloe asked softly as she returned and began helping him into the clean pajamas.
His voice was lazy and laced with amusement. "Being injured isn’t so bad after all."
Chloe reached out and flicked his forehead. "Nonsense. What’s so good about being injured?"
Donovan caught her slender hand, his dark eyes deep and tender. "Of course it’s good. My Chloe is never this gentle and considerate."
Chloe frowned, placing her hands on her hips. "Are you saying I’m not usually gentle? That I’m not considerate?"
"Do you usually help me change? Do you kiss me so obediently? All you ever do is tell me to be serious and stop messing around."
"I do not act like that," Chloe denied.
Donovan’s eyes narrowed. He pulled her onto his strong lap and leaned in to nibble at her ear.
It tickled, and she tried to squirm away. "Don’t do that. Stop messing around."
"See? You just said it again."
Chloe was speechless. His body was very warm, and sitting on his lap made her feel flustered. She tried to get down.
Donovan held her in place. "Stay still. What are you fidgeting for?"
Chloe cleared her throat. "This is... not very comfortable."
Donovan leaned close to her ear, a playful smile on his lips. "Why not? Did I poke you with something?"
