My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 462
"Take care of my son! I don’t want any complaint from him!" Kaelan’s mother said seriously, her eyes a mix of love and warning. "I have always taken care of him like a treasure."
Ruby smiled softly and nodded, her voice warm. "I promise, I’ll take care of him."
Kaelan’s father, Loren, cleared his throat and added proudly, "He has always been our treasure, Ruby. Please look after him. He still doesn’t listen to doctors properly, so make sure he eats and rests on time."
Ruby nodded again, a little amused. "I will, don’t worry. I’ll make sure he behaves."
Even Angeline stepped forward, folding her arms playfully. "Ru, take care of Kaelan properly, okay? Don’t let him skip meals or run around too much. He’s still recovering." Her husbands nodded beside her, smiling in agreement.
Ruby chuckled and nodded. "I will, Angel. You don’t have to worry."
Then came Karl, his tone half-jealous, half-teasing. "Wife! Don’t spoil him too much, alright? He’s our brother now, but remember—we need equal love. No favoritism!"
Milo tugged Ruby’s sleeve softly. "Wife, please make sure brother Kai eats fruit every day. He likes sweet things like me!"
Julian, always calm, smiled faintly. "And make sure he doesn’t overwork himself. He’s recovering, and the stress of this whole event wasn’t small."
Adrian nodded, his arms crossed but his eyes soft. "We’re trusting you with him, Wife. He’s part of our family now."
Ruby blinked at all of them, her lips twitching as she looked around at the crowd of people giving her instructions one after another. "Alright, alright! I promise I’ll take care of him," she said, lifting her hands in surrender.
Everyone finally smiled—satisfied and stepped back.
Kaelan stood quietly beside her, watching the whole scene unfold. His lips curved into a warm, amused smile, his electric blue eyes soft. "I didn’t know marrying you meant getting a whole family of guardians," he whispered teasingly.
Ruby turned her head slightly, her smile deepening. "You better get used to it," she said softly.
Later, Ruby received shocking news — her aunt’s daughter, Emma, turned out to be Kaelan’s ex-girlfriend. She had committed fraud with Kaelan in the past, and she was also the one who injured Julian’s head when he misunderstood that she was sleeping with someone.
The revelation left Ruby and everyone else stunned.
Thankfully, Emma and her accomplices were arrested soon after.
Ruby then took her five husbands back to her home. The house felt smaller now with all of them together, and she couldn’t help but think that maybe it was time to find a piece of land and build a bigger house — one where her husbands could live comfortably too.
***
Kaelan felt a little awkward. It was his first time entering Ruby’s house, and now he was stepping in not as a guest but as her husband. The thought alone made his heart race.
Karl dropped onto the couch, his legs sprawled out, clearly exhausted but still full of energy to talk. "So... where is brother Kai is going to stay? I mean, which room?" he asked, looking around suspiciously like someone about to protect his territory.
Milo immediately raised his hand. "Oh! Maybe he can stay in our room!" he suggested eagerly, smiling like it was the most perfect idea ever.
Ruby chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "I live alone," she said, glancing at Kaelan. "Maybe he should stay with me?"
Her words had barely left her lips when the whole room erupted in chaos.
"NO!" came four voices in perfect unison.
Karl jumped to his feet, pointing at her dramatically. "That’s completely unfair, wife! You can’t just pick him to stay with you!"
Milo puffed his cheeks. "Yeah! Not fair! I want to stay with wife too!" he said, crossing his arms in protest.
Julian sighed, rubbing his forehead tiredly but nodding in agreement. "They’re right, Wife. We all need balance. You can’t just let one person stay with you while the rest of us watch from outside."
Even Adrian, calm as ever, lifted an eyebrow. "I agree. It’s... not appropriate," he said, though there was a faint smirk on his lips.
Kaelan sat there, speechless. He didn’t know whether to laugh or apologize.
Karl crossed his arms proudly. "Then it’s settled! Brother Kai will stay with Milo and Brother Adi for now. And we’ll rotate every night to take turns staying in Wife’s room!"
Milo gasped excitedly, clapping his hands. "Yes! Let’s start with Brother Kai! He’s new, so it’s only fair he gets first turn!"
Ruby blinked at them all, both amused and exasperated. "Alright, alright," she said finally, raising her hands in surrender. "Just adjust for some months. I’ll make it fair for everyone."
She smiled softly, her eyes glinting with warmth. "We’ll build a new home soon anyway."
Everyone froze mid-argument, their eyes widening in surprise.
Karl tilted his head, blinking. "New home? You mean... a bigger one?"
Ruby nodded, her smile gentle but full of quiet determination. "Yes. A bigger house for all of us."
Julian’s eyes softened, Adrian’s smirk turned into a real smile, Milo clapped happily again, and even Karl—after pretending to think for a moment—grinned proudly.
"Wow, wife! Can you make different rooms for all of us?" Karl asked, his eyes going wide like a child who had just heard about free candy.
Ruby turned toward him, amused. "Different rooms?" she repeated, crossing her arms. "And what will you do in your own room, Karl? Sleep or gossip?"
Karl gasped dramatically, pressing a hand to his chest. "Both, wife! Sleep is important for my acting career, and gossip is important for mental health!"
Julian chuckled quietly from the side. "You mean for creating chaos," he said softly.
Milo raised his hand. "I want my room beside wife’s room!" he said with a sweet smile. "So I can show my drawings every morning!"
Ruby smiled warmly. "Alright, one beside mine for you."
Karl immediately protested. "Hey! Then I want my room next to wife too!"
Adrian sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "If everyone stays beside her, what’s the point of separate rooms?"
