Chapter 90: 90: Where Does It Lead To?

Simon did not expect to have gotten so many useful and powerful items when he chose to follow the odd warm wind.

Although each of the items he got came with its own... disadvantages in the sense that he was forced to be involved in an unseen war he had no knowledge of.

Regardless of its attached problems, each of the items were extremely useful items for him.

’I just hope it’s not that I’ve used up all my luck finding these things. I’ve been unlucky ever since I reincarnated into the demon realm. Let this be a sort of reward for surviving all those terrible experiences.’

Simon exhaled deeply, then he walked out of the room after storing the bones of Hell’s Sword Daemon in his spatial ring.

After knowing the identity of the owner of the pile of bones, how could he leave it behind for another person to find?

He was not certain if the bones had any use since the Sword Daemon must have been dead for a very long time, but whether it had a use or not, there was no way he was leaving it behind.

After leaving the cave, Simon decided to explore the two other caves.

He wasn’t expecting much from the two caves since he was certain the Sword Daemon’s cave was the most important one amongst the three.

However, he also knew that he had to be careful because there was the possibility of him encountering a powerful beast or beasts in any of the caves.

If that should happen, he wouldn’t be so surprised considering how shitty his luck was.

Unlike what some might think where they’d be wary of traps in the caves, Simon was not truly worried about that because he had a feel about the personality of the Sword Daemon.

Somebody like the Sword Daemon would not stoop so low as to place traps in the caves he created.

In the visions he saw, he could feel the arrogance and pride the Sword Daemon had. And he could also feel the same thing after going through his Sword Art.

Such a demon would not resort to traps. So, he was not so worried about that.

And just like he guessed, he encountered no trap when he entered the second cave.

However, he saw nothing in the cave.

He frowned and looked around, but he still didn’t see or sense the presence of a living being or a hidden space like the Sword Daemon’s abode.

His eyes flashed with a dark silver light, and his eyes glowed in the dark as he looked around for anything odd.

Just as he was about to give up, he looked at the wall to his right. He approached it, crouched, and touched the ground.

He pulled out a dried and dead root and leaf, and Simon swiped his hand across the floor.

He cleared a portion of the ground, and he saw more dead leaves and roots.

Through his ocular eyes, he could see an extremely faint demonic energy around the dead roots.

"Was this place where he planted some previous herbs and plants?... Maybe."

"But the plants are dead and can’t be used."

Simon took one last look around, but he didn’t find anything.

He decided he had spent enough time looking around, so he went to the next cave.

"Like I said, my luck might turn out to be extremely shitty after finding such powerful items... My life get more terrible than it already his." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

After the disappointment the second cave gave him, he wasn’t expecting much from the third cave.

All he hoped was that he didn’t encountered a situation which he could not survive.

When he reached the third cave, he saw no beast and no living creature. However, he sensed something that wanted him to enter deeper the cave.

This feeling made him wary and anxious, and Simon was instantly on guard for any sudden attacks or movement.

He kept on walking deeper and deeper into the cave, until he reached the end.

Just like the second cave, there was no living creature, no hidden cave, and no artifact or item.

However, what he saw was something that made him freeze on the spot.

On the dead end of the cave was a crack that ran from the top of the wall to the bottom.

The crack emitted a crimson light, and in between it were what looked like spider webs.

"A-a... A rift?"

Simon was stunned, and he had a hard time believing what he was seeing.

What was in front of him was extremely familiar to him. It was something he had dreaded, entered, and came out of a countless number of times in his past life.

A rift.

A rift was similar to the dungeons and gates of Webnovels and mangas he had read in the past. It was what connected the demon realm to earth.

And it was how demons entered earth and got back to the demon realm.

There was more to rifts, but one could say that rifts were the portals to another world.

"Does this rift lead to earth?"

Simon’s eyes could not help but tremble as he stared at the rift.

A big part of him wanted to squeeze through the rift and appear on Earth. He wanted to appear in the world he knew and was extremely familiar with, but he knew that doing such a thing would be beyond stupid.

Even if he did not have a horrifying appearance, the demonic energy he emitted would alert every human that he was a demon.

And if that should happen, several demon hunters would come to kill him and the situation would become more complicated.

"Sigh... And here I thought I had found a way to escape the clan."

Simon scratched his head with a contemplating expression, then he shook his head slightly.

"It’s not even certain if this rift leads to earth. But why is there a rift here? And if it doesn’t lead to earth, then where does it lead to?"
