The Broken Halo-Chapter 100: Ashes
"See why I said you’re weaker than me."
Thorgan glared at Simon, and was about to speak, but the Alpha growled and started approaching like a predator approaching prey.
"Do what I asked of you. Oh... and make sure not to go in that direction." Simon gestured at the tied up candidates. "I don’t want them to die."
Thorgan glanced at the candidates, then he shifted his gaze back to the Alpha.
Simon turned and ran to the west, leaving behind Thorgan to face the Alpha.
"Wait. Wait. You’re really leaving me? We’re really using me as bait?" Thorgan stared at Simon’s back with wide eyes and an outstretched hand.
"Focus." Simon said coldly without looking at him, and Thorgan groaned.
Growl!
He heard the growl of the Alpha, and he quickly looked at the beast.
The Alpha stared in Simon’s direction, wondering what he was up to, and Thorgan cursed himself and Simon a million times.
’Damn you, third brother. Damn you!!!’ 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
He saw a spear close to his foot. The spear was one of the weapons of the candidates, but Thorgan was not relieved by the presence of the weapon.
Instead, he was even more terrified.
’Oh shit. Why is there a spear close to me? Can’t it be a stone? This is definitely going to piss it the more.’
Despite the urge to look for a stone which would not cause the Alpha more harm and in return, not cause it to hate him the more, he knew that doing such a thing would be foolish.
"Fuck my life man."
He grabbed the spear, held it, then he coated it with his demonic energy which was dark like a shadow.
He looked at the Alpha. "Hey!"
The Alpha shifted its gaze to Thorgan, however...
PUCHI
Whimper
HOWWWWLLLL!!!!!!
Thorgan threw the spear before shouting at the Alpha, and the Alpha could not react as the shadow-enhanced spear pierced right through it’s right eye.
Blood fell on the ground in copious amount, and the alpha whimpered, took several steps back, then howled to the moon.
With a spear stuck in its eye, he looked at Thorgan with so much fury that the air and shadows emitted the same anger.
Thorgan could see it as clear as day, and he was in full disbelief.
"I- I threw it to pierce his body, how did it pierce his eye?" He mumbled in disbelief.
"Good! Now, run!"
He heard Simon’s voice from afar, and he looked at him.
"It was a mistake!" He shouted.
Growl!
HOWL!!!!
The alpha howled once again, then he jumped toward Thorgan.
Thorgan’s eyes widened in disbelief and fear.
"Fuuuucccckkk!!!"
Thorgan instantly ran with everything he had, and the alpha swiped its claw at him from above, sending a massive shadow claw at the running Thorgan.
Bang!
Boom!
Thorgan barely dodged the claw attack. He stumbled, nearly fell to the floor, but for fear of his life, he ran with everything he had.
"THIRD BROTHER! HELP!"
Thorgan screamed in fear as he ran and ran with everything he had.
Meanwhile, Simon stood with his arms crossed and his shoulder and back resting on a tree. He calmly observed the running Thorgan from the top of a tree, and his sky blue feline eyes watched everything like a predator observing their prey.
A few seconds later, he stood and crouched. Then he jumped.
What he was doing was pure madness, but for him, it was one of the few methods he could use to reach the Alpha without it knowing.
’Even when the alpha’s attention is fixed on Thorgan, the shadows are able to act on their own.’
’The Alpha seems to have created a sort of domain. Well... comparing it to a domain is giving it too much praise. Regardless, the shadows are able to sense my presence or anybody’s presence once they enter its ’domain’, and it would then notice my presence and I would not be able to sneak attack it from behind.’
’I can’t fly yet. And I can’t control my chaos. So, I have to do this. Kill it from above.’
As Simon fell from the sky, his eyes glinted with a sharp predatory gaze.
His focus was entirely on the Alpha, and a few seconds later, the Alpha appeared in his path.
Simon knew that if he missed the alpha, he would most likely die or his legs and body would be crushed from the point of impact, shattering nearly every bone in his body.
However, he still went on with this reckless plan.
Why?
Because he believed in himself.
And mainly because he was experienced and was thinking three steps ahead.
As he fell and got closer to the ground, the alpha was in his path, and the distance between him and the alpha was less than meter away.
It looked like he was going to make it and land on the Alpha’s back, but a few seconds later...
"Tch." He clicked his tongue when he saw that he was not going to make it. The Alpha had gone ahead of his path of descent, and he was about to fall on the ground.
He stretched out right hand as a fist, then with a thought, the Chaos Wraps moved and shot toward the Alpha at a fast speed.
It wrapped itself around the Alpha’s neck, and Simon was pulled toward the Alpha’s body.
Due to its fury and because Simon made sure not to make the Chaos Wraps too tight around the Alpha’s neck, the Alpha failed to notice the existence of the Chaos Wraps and Simon behind it.
Meanwhile, Simon nearly fell to the ground in a tumble, but his cat-like agility and trait which enabled him to always fall on his feet helped him immensely this time around.
He strengthened his legs with demonic energy, and though he felt a stinging pain and the sound of a few bones breaking in his legs, he ignored it and quickly jumped on the back of the Alpha before the shadows alerted it of his presence.
The moment he landed on the back of the Alpha, he quickly called back his Chaos Wraps and called out to Thorgan.
"A weapon! Throw me a weapon!"
Thorgan was stunned, and he looked behind him, only to find Simon on the back of the stunned Alpha.
’A weapon? Why didn’t you take one when you left me?’
Although Thorgan had this question in his mind, he didn’t waste any time.
He quickly picked up a sword which was close to him, then he threw it at Simon before the Alpha was able to react.
"Kill it, third brother!"
Simon caught it, and with a clean and precise movement, he stabbed down.
However...
The sword turned to ashes the moment he stabbed down.
