The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 358: Death Of Me
"I don’t think so. Nothing sort of that happened yesterday..." Emily suddenly trailed off as the memories of the previous night rushed back to her. Though she didn’t actually have sex with Kaiden, they still did a lot of things that could have caused her the current emotional and elemental imbalance.
She tried to maintain her composure and stick to her initial confession of her not knowing the reason behind her current situation, but the red tint on her cheeks and her sudden silence were more than enough for the Fae King to get an idea of what actually was going on.
"Seems like someone had a really good time last night." The teasing was more than evident in Aleron’s voice as he spoke.
"You... I... I mean... " Emily had no idea what she wanted to say, so she just ended up stopping after failing to get any proper sentence out of her mouth. She wasn’t actually embarrassed but at the same time, she was embarrassed.
"What should I do now?" She finally found her voice to ask a question.
"Since your mate is the reason behind your imbalanced magic, I think he should be the one helping you out this time. Go and ask for his help." Aleron answered as he stood up from where he was leisurely sitting around the stone table.
"Kaiden’s help?" Emily was surprised by the sudden shift in her training session. "But you know that I can’t use my powers in the outside world." She hurriedly reminded him.
Aleron didn’t look the least bit fazed and answered - "You both can come here and practice. This place is open for you twenty-four seven." He noticed the accusing eyes of Emily that were focused on him, and decided to explain himself.
"Don’t think that I’m not doing my job as your trainer. I already helped you find the reason behind your imbalanced elements and also showed you the way to sort them out. Since there is no way I can stop you from getting intimate with your mate to keep your powers balanced, you both will need to find your own way to do it. Consider it a test. We will meet again once you have that seed turned into a healthy plant. Have a good time, Little Alessandro." Before Emily could have even opened her mouth to say anything in response, Aleron’s figure disappeared from her sight, vanishing into thin air as he returned to his Realm and left her all alone in the clearing.
She spent a few minutes just staring at the seed in her hand before she took out her phone from her bag and called Shadow.
-
"What’s with that look on your face, Princess?" Shadow asked as he stole a glance in her direction before refocusing on the road ahead as they drove to Kaiden’s apartment.
Emily let out another sigh, something she had done quite often ever since she climbed in the car. She debated what to say but even after certain long minutes, she remained completely silent.
"Princess, I know that something is on your mind and considering how quickly your session ended today, I’m sure something has happened. So, tell me what is it. You know that you can tell me anything, right? Even if it’s embarrassing." Shadow told her in his soft tone as if he was consoling a child.
Emily turned her attention toward him, her eyes taking in his beautiful side profile. "I’m not embarrassed or feel any embarrassment while talking about anything with you. After all, you have been my comfort zone for years. I just... I don’t want to hurt your feelings..."
The last line was spoken so softly that it was barely audible, but Shadow’s vampire hearing picked up every single word loud and clear.
A smile made its way to his lips while his right hand left the steering wheel and found hers that was sitting on her lap. He entertained their fingers before squeezing lightly. "Thank you for the trust, Princess. And trust me, nothing about you can hurt me. So, stop worrying and tell me what’s bothering you."
Emily pondered, struggling to decide what to say and finally asked - "Not even when it’s about me and Kaiden?" Her heart was caught in her throat as she waited for his reply.
Shadow finally gave her another glance that was accompanied by his comforting smile. "Haven’t both of us made it pretty clear by now that we accept your love for both of us and also each other’s presence in your life? I will like to stay out of the private life of you both but only because that is your privacy, not because I’m affected badly by it or... am not interested to know the details."
The last sentence was accompanied by a teasing wink that finally brought a smile on Emily’s lips. She chuckled softly and shook her head before stating - "You are crazy, Shadow."
Her gaze then returned to his face and she found the corner of his lips stretched into a smile. Not trying to hold herself back, she took off the seatbelt and inched forward to place a quick kiss on the corner of his lips.
Everything happened so quickly and she was so swift, that by the time Shadow realized exactly what just happened, she was already settled back into her seat and had put on the seatbelt.
"Princess!"
Shadow was shocked to say the least. His grip on the steering wheel kept him from driving off the lane from the initial shock that was now slowly fading away. "That was dangerous. What if I would have lost control of the wheel?"
"I thought you will complain about how quick it was." Emily was suddenly in a very good mood and much relaxed compared to a few moments ago.
"That..." Shadow was at a loss for words as he stole another glance toward her but his eyes were soft and filled with warmth instead of any sort of anger or embarrassment. "You are going to be death of me!"
