The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 67: Katherine Was Back
Chapter 67: Katherine Was Back
The next day, Evelyn woke up to the sharp morning rays filtering through the curtain. A smile spread across her lips as she felt a little bear still clinging to her tightly, her tiny hand wrapped around her securely.
Slowly opening her eyes, Evelyn kissed Kiana’s head who was still sleeping soundly. After dinner, they had left the Reign mansion last night, returning back to their what she could call heavenly home. And just like every night, they had slept together, hearing stories and laughter of their darling daughter.
Unlike the usual mornings, Evelyn felt this one a lot more relaxed, something light in her chest now assured her that Kiana would be with them forever. She couldn’t help but hug her tightly, kissing the little girl’s head who had become such a precious person in her life in such a short time.
"Morning, Mommy." Kiana slowly woke up, feeling her mommy already up. She and her daddy were already awake but since Evelyn was sleeping, Zevian suggested she sleep with her while he went down to prepare a surprise for them.
"Good Morning, sweetie!" Evelyn wished brightly, smiling as Kiana sat up and kissed her forehead. Sitting up, she picked the little girl on her lap, and looking at the empty side beside them, she murmured, "Seems like your daddy is already up."
"He went to prepare a surprise for you," Kiana mumbled, barely containing her excitement.
"Surprise?"
The little girl gingerly nodded, a giggle escaping her lips. "Come, let’s get ready and go downstairs." She said, hopping down her mother’s lap and dragging her to the bathroom.
With an amused smile, Evelyn walked to the bathroom with Kiana. Once done, they walked downstairs, the murmurs from the workers puzzling her. With a frown, she carried Kiana toward the dining hall, her eyes catching sight of a crowd standing in front of the kitchen at a distance.
"What’s going on?" Evelyn inquired, taking a seat next to Avery who merely smiled in response.
"You will know very soon," Avery murmured, sheepishly smiling at her best friend. She picked up Kiana and both started chuckling discussing something, making Evelyn even more surprised.
A few minutes later, a delightful aroma filled the dining hall. Evelyn who was busy on her phone looked up and blinked in surprise.
There he was, her handsome husband, carrying a tray with a warm smile on his face. He was wearing a loose off-white shirt, paired with black trousers and an apron tied around his waist. What truly caught her attention was his rolled-up sleeves, revealing muscular arms with veins tracing a path of raw power. It was far more enticing than the food he carried.
"Good morning," he greeted, approaching her chair. Avery quickly vacated his seat, allowing her cousin to sit right next to his wife.
"Mo-morning," Evelyn responded, her eyes darting between the tray he placed in front of her and the workers who dispersed, chuckling and squealing as if they had just witnessed a wonder.
Of course. Seeing this handsome man cook would sure be a delight. She was sure many of them had a lovely time and was a bit jealous that she couldn’t witness such a sight.
"Sir woke up early and prepared the breakfast for you, Ma’am," Agatha informed, her smile reflecting that she was beyond happy. What happened last night in the Reign mansion was a hot gossip among the Reign workers and many were glad that Evelyn stood strong and defeated the nasty Greys. Their respect for her only grew, many who had even doubted if she was a good pair for their young master regretting such thoughts.
The maids were quick enough to bring other dishes their master had prepared for breakfast. And Evelyn could only watch them set everything with wide eyes.
"Did you make all of this?" Evelyn asked, turning to Zevian who had taken a seat beside her.
"Of course! Someone was doubting my culinary skills, I decided to prove them wrong today," Zevian replied, his hands skillfully serving pancakes on her plate.
Zevian had woken up early just to prepare a lovely breakfast for his family, especially for his wife who had brought some peace into his life after six fucking long years of struggle. She deserved more than just a breakfast and he had planned to thank her properly later.
Evelyn’s mouth watered just at the sight of delicious hot pancakes. Zevian took out the honey and dripped it on them slowly, making her subconsciously lick her lip. Her expression brought a small smile to Zevian’s lips and he added more honey, knowing her love for it.
"Agatha, can you do me a favor?" Evelyn asked, picking up a knife and fork. And when Agatha nodded, she continued, "Can you call Dr. John and see if can make it here in an hour? You know life’s too precious to die on a pancake."
Avery and Kiana burst into laughter, and so did Agatha at Evelyn’s joke who was listening all seriously until now. She never missed a chance to tease Zevian. They thought as Zevian’s smile faded and was replaced by a scowl.
Evelyn chuckled at his expression before she took a bite of the pancake. The flavors instantly melted in her mouth, it was different from the regular pancakes she had, and also strangely tastier that she couldn’t help but take another bite.
"How is it?" Zevian asked, propping his face on his hand with a proud smile.
"It’s good!" Evelyn mumbled, momentarily forgetting everything and savoring the dish. Zevian’s smile widened in response, his eyes fixed on no one else but his wife who was cutely stuffing the food he made.
"Hmm, it’s yummy, Daddy!" Kiana who was being helped by Avery said, taking another bite of the omelet Zevian had prepared for her. Even Avery gave a thumbs up, the breakfast was really tasty.
"You should eat too," Evelyn mumbled, picking up his plate and filling it with the food. Zevian nodded and joined them, the couple enjoying the moment that was filled with Kiana’s chatter about what she was going to do today at school.
Once they were done, Avery picked up Kiana to dress her up for the school, giving the couple some time alone.
"What are your plans for the evening?" Zevian asked, turning to Evelyn who was all set to empty the pancakes he had made. Screw her diet! He had made them specifically for her and she wasn’t ready to share it with anyone else.
"Hmm." Evelyn wondered, having nothing significant on her schedule. "I was planning to drop and pick up Kiana from school."
Zevian nodded, sipping his juice. "Then I assume you will be free this evening." He murmured, making a note to text Brandon to proceed with their plans.
Evelyn blinked in confusion, a small smile tugging at her lips realizing he was up to something. "Why?" She asked, turning toward him.
When Zevian simply smiled in response, she asked again, "What are you planning, Mr. Reign?"
Zevian turned to her, their eyes locking briefly before he fell on the corner of her lips. Before Evelyn could process it, he closed the distance between them, his face dangerously close to hers. Just an inch away!
Evelyn flinched slightly, her eyelashes fluttering just like her heart. Zevian’s hand gracefully moved to her mouth, his fingers gently tracing the corner of her lips to remove the little crumb of berry covered in honey.
"Something that you would love, Mrs. Reign" Zevian murmured, his voice hot enough to send Evelyn’s mind into a whirl. Locking her eyes with his again, Zevian continued, "Get ready by seven pm. I will pick up."
Evelyn found herself nodding, her heart all giddy and excited. A satisfied smile graced Zevian’s face at her response. He withdrew his hand, and instead of cleaning his fingers on a tissue, he brought his thumb to his mouth, savoring the berry.
Evelyn felt her entire body heat up at his audacious action. A knowing smirk danced on his lips, clearly aware of the effect he had on her, and she hastily grabbed the glass and gulped down the juice in an attempt to calm her heart.
Shameless! She cursed him in her head, her cheeks flushed red. Just when she thought he had used all his seduction skills, here he was almost killing her with yet another powerful move.
Zevian smiled as she clearly looked flustered, holding back his chuckle at her expression. But their moment didn’t last for a while when Avery suddenly rushed back to the hall, panting and her face covered in horror.
"Kat-Kathe," She stammered, her expression worrying the couple.
"What’s wrong?" Zevian asked, getting up from his chair and moving to his cousin who was pointing at the main entrance. Evelyn too followed his actions and reached her best friend.
"Katherine is back!" Avery murmured in one breath, her words making Zevian’s eyes widen in shock. Before she could continue, he darted toward the hall, leaving Evelyn even more confused.
Evelyn’s eyes widened in shock, her expression mirroring the same horror on Avery’s face. Her eyes quickly moved to the hall, and to her shock, she saw a woman running inside and hugging Zevian tightly.
Katherine was back? But how could someone return from the dead?
