The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 795: Drops Dead
"The fuck!?"
Chuck hissed as he watched Vito from the window, staring at him up at the top where the large bell was. Vito had just stolen a microphone from the broadcast room and spewed a bunch of nonsense, picking a fight with Farah just because he was too lazy to search for her.
And now, after all that nonsense, there he was, ringing the massive bell on top of the premises.
Why did Chuck even agree to babysit that psychopath?
Grinding his teeth, he whipped his head to the side and saw some of Vito’s men already approaching. From the other direction came the church’s fighters.
What happened next was expected.
Gunfire started echoing from every direction as an intense fight broke out, all because Vito had happily announced his location for Farah to find.
"Tch!" Chuck clicked his tongue, snapping his eyes up to where Vito stood.
The latter was laughing maniacally while ringing the bell, completely unbothered by the chaos he had unleashed on the ground floor.
"Whatever!" Chuck muttered. "Die if you want! I’m not babysitting him anymore!"
Having said that, he pushed himself away from the window just in time a bullet nearly struck him. It clanged against the thick concrete, making his breath hitch.
"Tch!" he hissed, fleeing the scene before he got caught up in the disaster.
No one here knew whether Vito would get out alive or not. The only reason they had taken the guy in was that it was better to have his men than to go in with only a handful of their own. Besides, he had the weapons, the ammunition, the vehicles—everything they needed.
But whether he lived or died?
"I hope he drops dead!" Chuck hissed as he sprinted, only to hear a screech in his ear. "Ah!"
His steps skidded as he pressed a hand to his earpiece, hearing Scarlet.
"Anyone?" she panted. "Can anyone else hear me?"
"I think we found the spot," came Haji’s voice, calm in contrast to Scarlet’s panic.
"Hey!" Chuck yelled. "I’m here! Can you guys hear me?!"
"Good!" Scarlet replied, and without any preamble, she instructed him to find someone from the Order who knew about bombs.
His brows knitted together, but before he could ask anything, Scarlet spoke again.
"This place is going to blow up—all of it."
That was all Chuck needed to hear. His feet started moving nonstop again.
"Tell me the location," he breathed as he practically sprinted out of the hallway he was in. "I’ll send them there right away!"
But instead of going down, Chuck moved to a higher floor. The ground floor had become a battlefield thanks to Vito, but avoiding the danger zone wasn’t his plan. The reason he was going up instead of down was—
"There it is!" he huffed, spotting the duffel bag Vito’s men had planted there earlier.
He checked its contents. A brief look of satisfaction crossed his face before he found a spot to assemble the sniper rifle.
"Scar!" he shouted as he leaned back against the wall near a window overlooking where Vito was going insane. "The place I’m in has become a battlefield. Vito’s men and the church’s fighters are already engaging. But—"
He paused as he snapped the last piece of the sniper into place. "I’ll search for where the Order is right now. Head there."
"Got it!" she answered immediately.
With that, Chuck stepped out from his cover and peered through the scope, ignoring the fight below as he scanned the surrounding area and nearby buildings. He could see movement, but he wasn’t sure who they were.
They were wearing different uniforms—not the Order’s, not Vito’s, not the Church’s.
Chuck adjusted his scope elsewhere, but his view was limited from this angle.
"Damn it," he muttered, quickly moving to find a better vantage point.
The better spot? The roof.
From there, he could see in all directions.
Without hesitation, Chuck picked up the bag and moved up another floor. As he did, he caught sight of Vito still ringing the bell while laughing and firing randomly from above. Chuck hissed through gritted teeth and ignored him as he climbed the ladder.
He checked through a window, then quickly scaled the outer wall and climbed onto the roof. Scaling buildings wasn’t new to him. Sniping was his specialty, and in many cases Chuck had to improvise, taking up elevated—and dangerous—positions.
With the bag and sniper rifle slung over his shoulder, he dug his fingertips into the uneven stone of the church walls until he reached the tiled roof.
"Hah!" he huffed as he pulled himself onto the slope, sitting and balancing at the same time. He made his way to the ridge and settled at the center.
Reaching for his earpiece, he breathed out, "Scar, can you hear me?"
"Yeah, thankfully."
After all, the connectivity of their earpieces was limited. That was why Scarlet hadn’t been able to reach them earlier after she left the Mother Reverend.
"Aight."
Chuck moved into position, focusing on the task at hand. This time, he scanned the opposite side of the building where more structures stood.
The holy grounds were full of old brick chapels and monasteries, which wasn’t surprising. There were taller buildings around, but his current spot was good enough.
Squinting, he tracked the distant movements. Some of the people had their faces covered, so he searched for someone recognizable.
"Huh?" He paused, shifting his scope to one of the buildings. "Those are..."
Through the lens, he saw Allen—and then Sybil, fully armed, a cigarette clipped between her aged lips.
Seeing them surprised him, but what unsettled him more was that Sybil was clearly leading Allen. She looked far more vigorous than the younger man beside her.
"I guess they’re fine," he murmured before shifting his attention elsewhere.
A few seconds later, his eyes lit up.
"Scar! I saw them! Hey! Can you hear me?!"
Chuck shouted again and again, but only silence answered him.
"Hey!" he yelled, and finally Scarlet’s voice returned.
"Sorry. I stepped out of range," she panted, proof she had run back after losing his signal. "Where are they?"
"I’m in the building with the large bell ringing," he blurted, explaining his location as best he could despite not knowing the actual name of the structure.
"If you look south from there..." he continued carefully, making sure she wouldn’t get lost once they lost connection again. "Once I see you, I’ll cover you—"
BANG!
Chuck ducked as a bullet slammed into the roof inches from him.
"Shit—" He crawled lower, scanning for the opposing sniper’s position. "Just go. Izu and the others are there—I think they just arrived."
Without hesitation, Scarlet shouted back, "Got it!"
