Chapter 30 - 29: Creation of electricity (1)

Angelos, Livia's father, had just arrived at the Red family's infirmary.

"Good morning, Mr. Red."

"Good morning, sir."

"....."

"...."

"Yes, yes, good morning," Angelos finally responded with a wave of his hand, though his expression remained somewhat somber.

The exchange of greetings continued until he reached the room where Livia was hospitalized. Without hesitation, he opened the door and stepped inside.

There were two beds. Angelos walked toward the one where Livia sat, engrossed in a book, her expression serious. A bandage was still wrapped around her forehead.

"Good morning, Papa."

Angelos approached her and gently ran his fingers through her crimson hair.

"Good morning, my little flower."

"Hey! I'm not a kid anymore. I'm a Rank 4 mage, you know?" Livia pouted, swatting away her father's hand from her head.

Angelos finally allowed himself a smile.

"No matter how strong you become, you'll always be my little flower. Hahaha!"

Livia crossed her arms, but her gaze softened.

"But, Papa... why did you look so troubled earlier?"

Angelos fell silent for a moment, staring blankly into the distance.

"Papa...?"

"Papa? Are you even listening?"

"Ah..." Angelos blinked, snapping back to reality, looking slightly embarrassed.

"It's nothing. Don't worry about it," he said with a reassuring smile.

Livia narrowed her eyes.

"If you're lying, then get out. You're the one who taught me never to lie, remember?"

Angelos widened his eyes for a second before sighing in defeat.

"You're right... A father can never win against his daughter."

A heavy silence settled between them.

Then, Angelos finally spoke.

"The kingdom is riddled with conflicts. Every day, I'm buried under endless requests for support and other such nonsense."

"But what truly worries me... is the Duke Dairus' imprisonment."

"This information hasn't reached the public yet. If it does, we can expect a bloody war within the Empire."

And it was only natural.

Dairus had many supporters, especially among the fallen nobility. Somehow, despite his imprisonment, he had managed to grow even stronger in recent times.

Too many strange things were happening lately...

Suddenly—

"Hmm... I don't think you need to worry," Livia said nonchalantly, her gaze cold.

"Hey, kiddo, like I told you, there are things you just can't understand."

"I'm not a child anymore! I'm fifteen now. Stop treating me like one!"

"Hahahaha, alright, alright, I get it," Angelos replied, attempting to ruffle his daughter's hair, only for her to swat his hand away in annoyance.

"What I meant by 'you shouldn't worry' is that Emperor Lucian will handle the situation, won't he? Especially with you in his ranks."

"Ah..." Once again, Angelos was drawn into his thoughts.

Lucian, huh? Lucian Voldrek... This whole mess is his doing. But according to the butler, Chris, he disappeared. If all goes as expected, he should be back from his journey by now...

A small smile crept onto the large man's lips.

What have you been plotting all these years while pretending to be ignorant?

Lucian, Adeline, Livia...

I feel like I'm being toyed with by a bunch of kids.

"Yes, you're right. After all, he is the Emperor," Angelos finally replied.

Livia, however, simply returned her focus to her book.

Angelos leaned back slightly in his chair, still unsatisfied, and asked,

"Where did she go?"

The bed Adeline had been occupying was empty.

Livia answered in a bored tone.

"'I'm going to find my path as a swordswoman,' she said. I was so shocked when I saw that she didn't have a single scratch left after just one day of rest... Damn swordmasters and their cheats."

Her path as a swordswoman, huh...

It's natural for her to test herself like this. For a genius like her, it's necessary for her growth.

I had planned to take her under my wing. That girl will undoubtedly become a key figure in the future, just like Selene Voldrek. But reaching the Divine level is beyond her grasp, even with her monstrous growth rate.

But... well, whatever. If she improves, it's a boon for the Empire. I won't interfere for now—we can deal with all that later. There are more pressing matters.

Angelos suddenly stood up, a smirk on his face, and reached out to ruffle Livia's hair once more—only for the little girl to start cursing as she frantically batted his hand away.

"I've got work to do. I'm heading out."

"Alright. Have a good day—and say hi to Mom for me," Livia said, already refocusing on her book.

"Don't worry about that."

As Angelos reached the door, he casually added—

"Oh, and do me a favor—change your mind. I don't want Lucian as my son-in-law..."

He hadn't even finished speaking before a fireball came hurtling toward him.

"Ah, you've really reached level 4."

Previously, just a breath from the Duke was enough to dispel Livia's magic, but now, it was a different story.

Angelos' hand turned red, glowing like metal forged in lava. He caught the fireball flying toward him and crushed it effortlessly.

"At your age, you're still trying to impress your old man... Hahaha!"

Livia hid her face slightly, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush.

"NURSE!" Livia suddenly yelled.

Beads of sweat formed on Angelos' cheek.

"Ah, you wicked girl! Not that scary woman—I'm out of here!"

He bolted out of the infirmary at full speed.

---

"You imprisoned him?" Lucian asked, seated at his desk. Across from him, Chris sat, a table separating them. The atmosphere was tense.

Chris remained expressionless, while Lucian wore a grave expression.

"Yes, because he endangered security and threatened Your Majesty's life."

Ah.

"The punishment prescribed by imperial law for such an act is death... But given that he is the Emperor's brother, I chose to imprison him until Your Majesty awakened," Chris explained, his tone still devoid of emotion. He radiated an air of aristocratic elegance, like that of a dragon.

It was likely the right decision, but the consequences wouldn't be easy to manage at this stage...

But...

Lucian spoke, his tone questioning.

"Well..." A heavy silence filled the room.

"So... you're a dragon?"

Chris gazed at Lucian with complicated eyes.

A sigh...

"I thought you already knew, considering you ordered me to use 'that' against Marquis Clerc and his faction."

Lucian replied with a resigned smile.

"I only knew by sheer luck that you had that special ability... but how the hell was I supposed to guess from that alone that you were a dragon?"

Chris spoke softly.

"I apologize, Your Majesty."

"It doesn't matter. You know what situation I'm in now..."

Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.

This guy could kill me anytime if he wanted to. But I've already crossed the point of no return.

"I heard you call Kael 'Father,' so I assume he is. Given that I'm connected to Malveria... to Ria... that makes me your father's enemy, doesn't it?"

What exactly is going on between their two races? Why was Chris, the fourth strongest, so powerless, so weak—so utterly pathetic in front of Malveria...?

Tsk.

I can't waste time thinking about this now!

"Go—"

Before Lucian could finish, Chris' eyes widened in shock.

"YOUR MAJESTY, STAY HERE NO MATTER WHAT!"

"Huh?!" Lucian swallowed hard, startled by Chris' sudden shift from calm to urgency.

Without another word, Chris vanished, moving so fast that afterimages trailed behind him.

What's going on?

As if answering his question, a voice filled with killing intent washed over the empire.

"CHRIS!"

Lucian recognized the voice instantly.

Selene??
