The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 475 - 476: A Pair of Ill-fated Little Lovebirds
"President Johnson, hello. This is Neve Harris, daughter of Oscar Harris from Southgate Department Store. My name is Russell Austin." Russell introduced them both after they were seated.
Just then, tea was served. Sienna Johnson, who was given lemon water, offered, "Please, have some tea."
"Thank you."
Neve glanced at Russell, feeling uneasy and nervous. Russell held her hand and spoke on her behalf.
"President Johnson, we’ve come to you regarding Yvette Harris."
"What about her?"
In front of Russell and Neve was tea, while Sienna had lemon water with honey. She picked up her glass and took a sip, enjoying the sweet and sour taste.
Neve cried, "She killed my mother, and she killed my father..."
"Neve, don’t cry. If you keep crying like this, President Johnson still won’t understand what happened." Russell noticed Sienna frowning. Aware that Sienna disliked seeing his girlfriend, Neve, cry, he gently tried to dissuade Neve.
Neve, realizing her lack of composure, hurriedly wiped away her tears and apologized, "I’m sorry. It’s just that whenever I think about my mother’s death, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed."
"I understand."
Neve composed herself and then slowly recounted the painful events of the past. After listening, Sienna felt that Yvette Harris was truly wicked. One should be merciful when possible, but Yvette had taken things to the absolute extreme, leaving no leeway!
Twelve years ago, Yvette leveraged her child with Oscar Harris to make him divorce his first wife and marry her.
That wasn’t all. Yvette thought Oscar gave his ex-wife too much money, so she hired some local thugs to rob his ex-wife of the money. They even stabbed Neve’s mother to death.
When Neve returned to find her father, Yvette prevented them from meeting. Neve endured a period of hardship; if not for the support of Russell’s parents, who knows what would have become of her.
"...The day my father had his accident, he called me. He said Angelo was an illegitimate child, not his at all. Then, over the phone, he said his car’s brakes had failed and that he was sure Yvette, in her desperation, was trying to kill him!" Neve’s voice broke. "Then... then my father died..." Overcome with grief, she couldn’t help but cry again.
Russell gently held her, comforting her. He then told Sienna about how he had pretended to be Yvette’s lover, which made Sienna’s jaw nearly drop.
She looked at him incredulously, noting the intimacy between him and Neve. They clearly had a deep relationship, perhaps even boyfriend and girlfriend... What on earth were they thinking, coming up with such a foolish plan? Even if someone killed her entire family, she would never let Adrian Desmond sell his body and charms to obtain information.
"But Yvette was very cautious; we couldn’t find anything," Russell said dejectedly.
"What do you want me to do for you?" Sienna asked directly.
Neve looked at Russell, letting him speak. "We’d like to ask for your help, President Johnson, in dealing with Yvette."
Sienna asked, "Why do you think I would definitely help you?"
"Don’t you hold a grudge against Sabrina Johnson? If it weren’t for Yvette, you wouldn’t have been switched at birth back then, going from Miss Johnson of the Johnson Family to an orphan in an orphanage."
Sienna chuckled softly. "It seems you know quite a bit about my affairs."
"There’s a lot of information about President Johnson online; it’s not difficult to find out if one is determined."
Sienna sipped her lemon water slowly, not stating her position. Neve, unable to gauge Sienna’s thoughts, looked at Russell anxiously. Russell, too, felt a little uncertain.
"If Yvette falls, as the sole heir, Southgate Department Store will belong to Neve. We promise that if you help us bring Yvette to justice, we will give Southgate Department Store to you, President Johnson."
Neve chimed in, "That’s right! I don’t want a single cent of the Harris Family’s money!"
Russell added, "President Johnson, if you don’t believe us, we can sign an agreement."
Sienna looked at the two of them and asked, "What is your relationship?"
Russell answered without hesitation, "Lovers!"
"And yet, you became Yvette’s lover! I’m very curious, what were you two thinking?"
Neve was crying too hard to speak. Russell frowned and explained, "It was only in name. I haven’t had a physical relationship with Yvette..."
Seeing that Sienna wasn’t easily fooled, Russell revealed everything about his arrangement with Yvette. After finishing, he said helplessly, "President Johnson, please don’t laugh at us. We had no other choice.
Neve has always remembered her mother, who died with such grievances she couldn’t rest in peace. If Yvette remains at large, living so arrogantly, Neve will never be able to start a new life. If Neve can’t start a new life, neither can I." After a pause, he pleaded, "President Johnson, please help us!"
Sienna looked at Russell, thinking she had truly underestimated the man before her. He looked like a pretty boy, but his words and actions showed he was anything but.
Russell was very eloquent; his words were so persuasive that Sienna found herself almost convinced.
"...Yvette and Sabrina are mother and daughter; they rise and fall together. You and Sabrina are already enemies, so Yvette won’t let this go easily.
That woman Yvette is venomous and shameless. Many influential men in Sileria City have been in her bed... Even if she can’t pose a substantial threat to you, President Johnson, she will definitely cause you trouble." He paused, then added, "President Johnson, I don’t know if you’re aware, but Yvette went to find Master Leland a few days ago to help her rescue Sabrina."
"Oh? Is this information reliable?"
Sienna had made a deal with Master Leland that he wouldn’t interfere in Sabrina Johnson’s affairs. If what Russell said was true, hadn’t Master Leland broken their agreement?
"Absolutely! After Yvette returned, she was very smug, even flaunted it to me, and then she badmouthed Cynthia Leland."
Sienna fell into thought. Neve started to speak, but Russell put a hand on hers, stopping her. Neve listened to him and remained silent.
After a moment, Sienna took a sip of her lemon water, noticing it had grown cold.
"Your name is Russell Austin?"
"Yes. I also graduated from Sileria Medical University. You were my Senior, President Johnson! I’ve always admired you."
"What was your major?"
"Pharmacology and Epidemiology!"
Sienna’s eyes brightened, and she warmed up to Russell considerably. "Which hospital are you working at now?"
Russell’s expression dimmed. "I’m currently unemployed."
"Then, would you be interested in working at Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory?"
Russell was stunned. Neve, usually indecisive, showed more resolve than Russell at this moment. "Yes, yes, Russell is willing."
Neve nudged her dazed boyfriend, overjoyed for him. "Russell, President Johnson is talking to you! Hurry up and say yes! Isn’t Reggie Dewey also at Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory? You’ve always envied him. If you can go to Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory too, you’ll be colleagues!"
Neve then turned to Sienna, "President Johnson, he’s willing!"
