Chapter 474: Chapter 475: Cheating is risky, be cautious when cheating

Adrian Desmond wore a dark expression, looking utterly dejected, as if he’d been abandoned. He was gloomy and seemed on the verge of an outburst.

"What’s wrong with you? Why do you have that expression? It’s as if your wife abandoned you?" she joked.

"You’ve abandoned me before!" Adrian Desmond roared in anger.

"Sixth Master, that’s not right. I wasn’t your wife back then! Your wife was Melanie Carpenter!"

"You’re holding a grudge against me?"

Sienna Johnson leaned on his shoulder, holding his fingers and nibbling them playfully. "Sixth Master, cheating is risky; be cautious when cheating!"

Her light, playful bites with those tiny teeth tickled him. The anger in his heart subsided, but the tickling sensation grew more distinct.

"You just take advantage of my fondness for you and act arrogantly!"

"Then I must be very arrogant, very arrogant indeed! Who told you to like me so much, huh? Haha..."

Adrian Desmond: ...

As soon as the two returned to the Johnson family home, the housekeeper, Mr. Henry, reported that a customer had arrived and was asking to see her.

"Who?" Sienna Johnson asked.

"She said her name is Neve Harris, the daughter of the former Boss of Southgate Department Store."

Sienna Johnson frowned. Southgate Department Store? The Harris family of Southgate Department Store... isn’t that the family Yvette Harris married into? What could Neve Harris want with me?

"Where is she?"

"I told her to wait in the reception room."

"Alright, I’ll go there now."

Adrian Desmond held her back. "Didn’t you say you were hungry? Eat something first."

"She came to see me; it might be important."

"Even if it’s important, it’s not as important as you eating. Let them wait. If they don’t want to, they can get out!"

Adrian Desmond insisted. Sienna Johnson, knowing his domineering nature, thought of a compromise. "Ask them if they’ve eaten. If not, let’s have dinner together."

"Alright."

Adrian Desmond said discontentedly, "These people are really something. In Abyanabad, unless you are very close friends or relatives, it is extremely impolite to visit at mealtime."

Housekeeper Mr. Henry, who happened to overhear, quickly explained, "Mr. Desmond, they arrived quite a while ago. They’ve been waiting all afternoon."

"It seems to be urgent," Sienna Johnson said.

Due to the unexpected customers, Adrian Desmond didn’t cook himself. Fortunately, the household servants had already prepared dinner, so he didn’t need to.

In the dining room, with the meal served, the family gathered around the table, enjoying a rare moment of togetherness in their day.

Mr. Henry returned but did not bring the customers with him.

"What happened?" Sienna Johnson didn’t see the two people who had come to visit her.

"Miss Harris said they’re not hungry and can wait for you to finish eating before they talk," Mr. Henry relayed Neve Harris’s words.

Sienna Johnson thought for a moment, then said, "It’s dinnertime; how could they not be hungry? Since they don’t want to eat with us, please have the kitchen prepare some food for them and send it to the reception room."

"Yes." Mr. Henry went to relay the message to the kitchen staff.

Pauline Briggs asked, "What does the only daughter of the former Boss of Southgate Department Store want with you?"

"I don’t know."

Sienna Johnson put some spinach on Curly’s plate. Curly pouted and was about to pick it out when she saw her mother’s expression. Bracing herself, she picked up the spinach leaf by leaf and ate it.

"Be good. Eat more vegetables and fruits, and you’ll be healthy," Sienna Johnson said with a smile, patting her daughter’s head.

"Why doesn’t Dad eat it?"

Adrian Desmond also put some spinach on Curly’s plate, saying, "Because I’m an adult, and you’re a child."

"So what if you’re an adult?"

"Yeah, it’s a big deal!"

Curly had nothing more to say.

Because someone was waiting for her, Sienna Johnson ate quickly. A meal that would usually take half an hour was finished in just ten minutes.

Sienna Johnson asked Mr. Henry about their customers. He reported that they still hadn’t eaten the dinner that had been sent to them. So, Sienna ate some fruit, deciding to wait until they had finished before she went to the reception room.

Pauline Briggs looked at her and reminded her, "You’re pregnant now, and there are so many things to deal with in the Johnson family. Don’t take everything upon yourself and be a pushover like your father."

Everyone who came to the Johnson family had something to ask for. Pauline Briggs had seen many such people, and Dexter Johnson, being a gentle person, would always oblige as long as the requests weren’t excessive. Pauline didn’t want her daughter to be a pushover like her husband, running around all day for unrelated people.

"I know."

"Sabrina Johnson... her trial is in three days. Take me with you; I want to go too."

"Alright."

Housekeeper Mr. Henry said, "Miss, they’re done eating. Do you want to go now?"

Sienna Johnson swallowed the watermelon in her mouth, wiped the corners of her lips, and said unhurriedly, "Yes, I’ll go now. Have someone bring in two cups of tea."

"Yes."

Adrian Desmond, still worried, accompanied her. Sienna Johnson looked at him following her so closely, glanced around to make sure no one else was nearby, and joked,

"Sixth Master, why are you following so closely? Are you really afraid I’ll abandon you? Don’t worry, as long as you behave yourself and your heart stays true, I won’t abandon you." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Shut up!"

Adrian Desmond’s face darkened as he headed towards the reception room. Sienna Johnson followed. Just before stepping inside, Sienna Johnson stealthily pecked his cheek. Adrian Desmond stood there, stunned.

"Sneak attack successful!"

Sienna Johnson opened the door herself, entered the reception room, and left Adrian Desmond outside.

He touched his face; the warmth of her lips still lingered. He caressed the spot gently, as if afraid he might wipe away the kiss itself.

"One of these days," he vowed silently, "I’ll make sure you can’t live without me!"

In the reception room, the floor was covered with a reddish-brown carpet. There were redwood sofas with light-colored, soft cushions. A young man and woman sat on a two-seater sofa. Seeing Sienna Johnson, both of them stood up.

"President Johnson, hello," the two greeted Sienna Johnson.

"Hello, please sit down!"

Sienna Johnson sat down across from them. Behind her sofa was a cushion, placed there to make her more comfortable—Kiki had thoughtfully prepared it for her.

"May I ask why you are looking for me?" Sienna Johnson asked directly.

The young man and woman in front of her were both good-looking. However, the man had soft, delicate features, giving him an almost effeminate, pretty-boy air. Sienna Johnson disliked this type of man. She believed a man should be strong and resolute, like a mountain or a towering tree, capable of sheltering a woman.

The woman was also beautiful, but it was clear she hadn’t been meticulously cared for or pampered. One could often tell if a woman led a privileged, comfortable life simply by looking at her hands. A woman’s hands could reveal a great deal about her lifestyle.

The most beautiful hands Sienna Johnson had ever seen belonged to Pauline Briggs. Hers were hands that had been coddled since childhood—exquisitely shaped, with long, slender fingers, fair, soft skin, and perfectly manicured nails.

This woman’s hands, however, were large-boned and coarse, clearly accustomed to hard labor. Sienna Johnson found herself wondering: how could the daughter of the former Boss of Southgate Department Store be living such a seemingly difficult life?
