The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 190: Must be a Myth ()
’Had it begun already?... Was he already showing a glimpse of his true intentions?’ Zariah thought to herself,
Zariah had wondered, how long it would take before Caedmon showed signs of his ulterior motive and this was the first time he had given any indications of it, any indications that his interest lay beyond just getting acquainted with Zariah.
Caedmon was asking questions about the Crimson Moon, it could not have been without a deeper intention.
Caedmon was not a simple man, he had never been. There was nothing he did that was not premeditated, Zariah had now realized this.
In the past lifetime, Caedmon had concealed his intentions well enough but there were many times he had slipped, many opportunities the Creator had provided Zariah to regain her senses, it was only that Zariah was too blind to see beyond the mate bond.
She had overlooked every sign and there had been many...too many of them, but this time was much different, Zariah sensed the ulterior motive the moment the words were out of Caedmon’s mouth.
Caedmon always asked more questions than was necessary, he always wanted to know more, he always wanted a part in everything and he would label it as curiosity, or his desperation to be truly accepted by the Crimson wolves.
But all along, he had just been gathering information, identifying weaknesses and mapping his cruel plan.
For a game Zariah had seen many times before, how could she miss it?
Caedmon had worded it in a touching manner, as was his expertise, but what Zariah obtained from those words were something different entirely.
’He is fishing for information on the Crimson Moon, I must seem like the easiest source.’ Zariah thought to herself.
’But fate has changed this time, I have left the barrier. Why does he want to know about the Crimson Moon? What could be his intent? Will this path lead back to the attack on the Crimson Moon?’
’Is that battle unavoidable? Is that fate for certain? Will it all end at Crimson Moon territory once again? Will I fail to keep the battle away and end it far from my pack?’
A thousand questions passed through Zariah’s mind in a short moment, all through which Caedmon watched Zariah with an expectant smile.
This was why Zariah had to keep Caedmon close, it was the only source she had to ascertain the future, it was the only path she could take to know the plan of the mastermind before it was executed.
Only with Caedmon close could she figure out his intents, watch his every move and react in a timely manner.
The forged mate bond still worked both ways, Zariah had to rope Caedmon in completely... Caedmon would be her opening.
’He owes me that much, he did the very same to me.’ Zariah thought.
Zariah’s hands clenched into tight fists at her sides but her expression still remained unchanged.
"The Crimson Moon? There is not much to be told about it. It is just a wolf pack like any other." Zariah finally replied with a casual shrug.
"Alpha Zariah is being modest." Caedmon teased, walking over to Zariah, he took her hand and led her back to the stream.
"A pack just like any other and yet no one knows it’s actual location? I mean, every other pack is boldly drawn out on the maps... clearly, the Crimson Moon is far from being likened to any other pack." Caedmon argued casually as they took a sit.
Zariah’s brows twitched slightly at Caedmon’s words.
There were many things more mysterious about the Crimson Moon Pack than their location.
For instance, they were the only werewolves who could wield magic as easily as the witches or the Fae kind did, furthermore, their element abilities were even stronger than that of the magic born species.
These were the first thing most people fascinated about the Crimson Moon would ask first, because it was the most interesting trait of the Crimson wolves.
Of all the curious things any person could ask, why did Caedmon find the location of the Crimson Moon more appealing?
’The mastermind...they do not know where Crimson Moon is yet. Something must have changed with our departure from the barrier, the information has not been leaked yet.’ Zariah realized
Zariah had long suspected that the location of the Crimson Moon was leaked from within, but if it was yet to happen, then it meant only one thing...it could still be prevented.
’But they are getting desperate... the current goal of the mastermind must be the location of Crimson Moon. Right after the Sea Kingdom, the Crimson Moon is his next goal...For what purpose? Why is he so keen on the Crimson Moon Pack?’ Zariah thought.
"The location of the Crimson Moon Pack..." Zariah begun.
She studied Caedmon’s expression, for just a fleeting moment, she caught the anticipation in his eyes before it was quickly hidden away.
"Is on a different dimensional plane from mother Earth." Zariah finished.
Caedmon stared at Zariah in bafflement, as though unable to determine if Zariah was being serious or not.
After a moment, Zariah smirked slightly and leaned back on her hands.
"That is what the books say, so it must be true. History should serve right... perhaps you might get to see that mysterious dimensional plane for yourself...upon my return." Zariah finished with a casual shrug.
Caedmon blinked at Zariah’s words, clearly still confused on if she was jesting or otherwise.
"Those same books say the Crimson Moon is a myth." Caedmon finally recovered from his surprise, still carrying on the topic.
He was not one to give up easily, Zariah knew that. But Caedmon would not be getting anything useful out of her, there could be only one victim between them both and Zariah had played the part once, it was now Caedmon’s turn.
"Then we must be a myth." Zariah murmured casually.
She laid back on the grass and shut her eyes, putting an end to the conversation with no words said.
