Chapter 24: The FPA (2)

"I’ll think about it..." Freya finally said. "Is there anything else I need to do, Doctor?"

There was no way she was going to flat out agree to his words. She knew that she got a two year adaptation time period as a ’Wanderer born’ and was going to use it to the fullest. Thank goodness she had those notes with her.

She had been used enough in this world and wanted to set things on her own terms. And even if it was futile to fight them, she wasn’t going to be the FPA’s plaything.

If she got more partners, it was because she liked them and not because it was a requirement. Well, she at least wanted feelings between her other partners. The same thing went for kids.

She was only going to have them because she wanted them.

Freya was on the fence about the Guide Center though. General Markson’s notes didn’t have anything about the benefits of helping out there, so she couldn’t decide whether they were worth it or not.

Still, she was tempted about learning more about her abilities. Then again, perhaps she could learn without the center’s help. Likely better that way because she doubted the Guide Center or FPA were completely good.

They had their own agendas to fulfill. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Hmm... no. We’re done for today." Doctor Lavs sighed, tapping away on the computer to the side of him. "Here’s your registration forms and ID required for marriage registration..."

One of the machines beeped and a few moments later Doctor Lavs set a few papers in front of her along with a similar looking plastic ID card to Xavier’s. He then stood up and Freya took that as a sign that this thing was over.

"It was good meeting you, Miss Freya." The beastman stated as they headed out the room. "I do hope that you’ll reconsider my words... Rushing into things isn’t always good and it’s best that you let the FPA help. It’s why we exist."

"Sure." Frey murmured, gripping the papers in her hands.

They entered the lobby and Xavier got out of his chair, stuffing his phone device inside his coat. He glanced between them before he asked, "Everything all good?"

"Yes, General Xavier." Doctor Lavs answered with a tight smile. "We can proceed with the marriage registration. That is, of course, if you’re still planning on going through with it."

Xavier frowned at his words, but didn’t comment on his words and instead moved closer to Freya. He watched as Doctor Lavs headed over to the reception desk to chat to the beastman there before turning to Freya.

"Did something happen there?" Xavier murmured softly.

"Hmm..." Freya turned to gaze up at the snake beastman. "Oh, he’s just clearly surprised that I didn’t immediately jump to his blind dates suggestion."

It was just her guessing here, but a part of her had a feeling Doctor Lavs was trying to push her in a certain direction... towards someone perhaps. The kindness he was showing began to crack the moment she rejected the proposal.

Or she was just being paranoid. However, Freya trusted her gut feeling on this one. It could smell two faced people from a mile away. Most of the time anyway.

"Ah..." Xavier nodded his head in understanding. "Not surprising. There are rumors that beastmen working here take bribes to help certain beastmen find partners. Guess that doctor might be one of them..."

Freya was about to ask more about what he had said, but Doctor Lavs suddenly called out to them, "The papers are ready for you to sign."

They both moved to the reception desk and quickly filled in the paperwork and signed with their fingerprints. It took some time to process everything, but Freya used that chance to book that health check appointment.

Otherwise, the FPA was bound to be on her for not doing that. Once they got their marriage booklets, the two left the FPA and headed straight for the downtown area’s shopping district.

***

Their first stop when they arrived at the shopping district was the bank. Freya needed a bank account of her own, especially after learning that her marriage with Xavier had her getting 10 000 Rels from the FPA.

It was mostly an incentive for beastwomen to take a new beast husband. But for Freya, it meant she didn’t need to rely on Xavier to pay for her things.

She knew that as a married couple, her expenses were technically his now too, but Freya still felt a little weird using his money. She was already freeloading as it was and the independent part of her couldn’t keep relying on him.

While at the bank, Freya had one of those phone-like devices set up for as all payments were done via these devices. Bank branches mostly existed to set things up.

It took a bit of getting used to, but the device was essentially the same as the phone back home. She just needed to get used to all the interfaces and apps on it.

Once they were done at the bank, they headed straight to the clothing stores. Freya could finally get some proper clothing and get out of this borrowed clothing.

It took a few minutes of searching though the giant store, but Freya was soon able to find some decent clothing. She was a little surprised how much clothing options there were for bigger women.

On Earth, she always had trouble finding good clothing that fit her body well. And half the clothing she liked almost always didn’t have her size, leaving her with limited options and dreading clothes shopping.

Her surprise, however, was answered when a massive beastwoman, who had to be at least 6’2ft, brushed past her. It was then that she realized size wasn’t made out to be as big of a deal as it was on Earth.

Some beastwomen were just naturally taller or more built than others because of the type of beast they were. And for the first time in a long time, Freya enjoyed shopping for new clothing.
