The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 979: THE FINAL BATTLE (45)
Chapter 979: THE FINAL BATTLE (45) frёewebηovel.cѳm
Iris had enough, she knew where Abby and Cedric came from, because she would stand against the world for Cane if she were on her shoes.
But unfortunately, Iris was not Abby and she had her own situation and responsibility, she had people that she needed to protect too.
Iris could understand what Abby felt, but they walked in different path.
"Move!" Iris snapped at Cedric. Even though the warrior tried to protect Abby and Liam, he was still her protector and just like when she called for them to prevent calamity from happening, they needed to answer to her.
Only her.
Therefore, when Iris ordered him to move away, Cedric couldn’t deny the direct order, he moved aside and Abby was ready to take Iris, even though she knew her power was not on par with the luna.
However, Iris’s aim was not her. Her aim was obvious. It was Liam, who stood behind Abby.
Iris canceled Abby’s magic, even before she could use it and knocked her to the side to deal with Liam directly, her eyes filled with aloofness.
"No! Please! Don’t!" Abby begged Iris not to kill Liam. She knew Iris would be able to do so. "No! Please! Please!"
Liam had not yet met their baby. He had not yet met their first child. They had not yet said goodbye. Abby didn’t even remember what the last thing she said to him.
She was in so much pain at that time and Liam went away to look for Grace, to find someone to help her, but he had never returned.
Liam had never returned.
Even now, the man in front of her was not him.
Abby had lost him forever, but she still couldn’t bring herself to see him being killed right before her eyes. How she could muster the courage to watch the father of her child being killed and vanished?
Abby jumped in front of Iris and this forced her to stop her attack.
"Move away, Abby," Iris said coldly, unfortunately, she couldn’t order her like she did to her protectors.
"No..." Abby whimpered.
However, she gasped in shock when Liam’s blade pierced through her left shoulder. Iris immediately used her black wisp to separate Abby from Liam’s blade and caught her body, while her three protectors immediately got to Liam.
Jace and Ethan stood by her side.
Thankfully, Liam stabbed her on the shoulder and despite the injury looked a little bit scary, but actually it was not life threatening. Iris could heal it just fine, but there was one thing that she couldn’t heal.
Probably there was nothing that could heal Abby from the sight that she was seeing right now.
Abby watched how Zale took the lead with Cedric and Cezi pinned down Liam, his sword had been thrown away, being cut off along with his right arm.
The three of them killed Liam by using divine power. His undying body was being purged.
Under the moonlight, the lifeless expression on his face disappeared, blown away by the wind in this Lucentsand desert. His body turned into ashes and faded away.
Liam was gone. He was really gone now. There was no saving him. His soul had been destroyed by Rei, tainted and there was nothing they could do to get him back.
But his spirit...
For a moment, the silence was deafening, as if the time stopped. No. It was Abby’s world that had stopped. She felt like she wanted to disappear too.
However, Iris’s voice interrupted the quietness in her mind.
"Don’t cry, Abby. I am glad you kept the baby. Bielle is a beautiful name. Don’t wait for me this time." Iris shifted her attention to Abby now. "That’s what Liam said."
Iris saw Liam’s spirit for the last moment. The spirit was very weak, he could only say that much before he disappeared. Completely disappeared.
The only proof or Liam’s existence was Bielle and the people, who would remember him.
Abby cried so hard when she heard that. She felt her heart was being ripped apart. She wept the lost of the man she loved the most.
The only future she could see was so dark, cold and dreary. She was defeated.
Cedric sat on the sand, he stared at the empty space, where Liam’s body supposed to be laying down, but all he could see was the sand.
He couldn’t bring himself to comfort Abby, because there was no amount of word that could get through to her.
He couldn’t bring himself to stand up, because it was too heavy, the weight of the knowledge of killing your best friend weighed him down.
No matter how eloquent you put it and how you justified his action, the fact was there. He killed Liam. He helped Cezi and Zale to kill Liam. He would live with that.
Iris couldn’t offer anything to Abby and she had someone to protect too. She stood up and approached Cane, who engulfed Lou’s body with the black wisp, neutralized the magic from him.
The alpha was trying to pull out Rei’s spirit from Lou, just like how they tried to extract Lu from inside him.
It happened more than once and Cane learned fast about it, now he was the one, who did that.
Their position was the same now, Lou had Rei’s spirit inside him, while Cane had Lu. It almost like the fight between Rei and Lu instead. The lycan was really brutal, but Rei was not someone that you could underestimate.
It had gone for too long and Lou was close to reach his limit, he was going to give in soon, if Lu didn’t get Rei’s spirit immediately.
"Iris, be ready," Cane said when Iris stood next to him. The black wisp that emerged from his body was massive.
Iris remembered how Cane explained that the black wisp was actually part of Lu’s spirit. She remembered how ridiculous it was when they learned the black wisp that suddenly emanated from Cane was because Lu wanted Iris to be close, that was why it was only her, who could make it disappear.
It was so silly, but one day... Iris would remember this story as a fond memory...
The black wisp was very thick, it almost looked like smoke, while slowly, you could see the red light that oozed out Lou’s body, as the merchant let out the shrill scream that could make you stopped breathing, as if you could feel his pain.
The black wisp tangled against the red light, it engulfed it, so it wouldn’t escape. The black wisp looked like it sucked the red light out of Lou’s body and wrapped it tightly.
"IRIS! NOW!" Cane said.
"Oh, no..." Iris looked at Cane with horror in her eyes. "No..." she shook her head.
"NOW, IRIS!"
This was her only chance to destroy Rei, Decratic forever... but, it also meant, she had to destroy Lu as well...
It was the black wisp that restrained Rei’s spirit. This was the lycan’s final task...
"IRIS!" Cane snapped.
Tears streamed down Iris’s cheeks when she closed her eyes, her divine power thrummed in her veins and now she had to do the right thing...
