Chapter 151: Users

Severin and the others felt the change in the air at the same time. The energy that surrounded Lito had changed. The purple Etherion got thicker and more vicious.

She locked eyes on the Headless Knight and then she shot forward like lightning, so fast that the afterimages she left behind were hazy.

In a flash, she reached the Headless Knight’s side and her right hand lurched towards his helmet. She gritted her teeth and released a blast of energy that slammed into the Knight’s head with a solid twank sound.

The Headless Knight stumbled backward, but she wasn’t done.

She only attacked the Knight’s head because it would make him confused for a while, buying herself time.

She moved backward, and then her fingers flickered as if she was drawing shapes in the air. Her eyes flashed a deep purple and the aura around her deepened.

Etherion surged forward from her in a larger quantity than she’d unleashed previously. It was as if she was using all the energy that was contained within her.

Jade frowned. "What’s she doing? That seems like all of her reserve energy. She’s going to make herself dry of power at this point."

But she didn’t stop, and the energy continued to pour from her.

The energy was flung forward at the Knight and it began to form a ball around him, enclosing the Knight within.

The Headless Knight, now back to his senses, punched the ball of energy he was enclosed in, his hand shining with blazing white energy.

Bam!

His fist cracked sharply as it slammed into the energy, but instead of the shattering of the ball, the power in his punch just seeped into the ball as if he was punching a swamp.

What?

Before he knew what was happening, a force hit him by the side of the head so hard that he rammed into the wall, his head vibrating painfully.

The force that hit him was lit up by blazing white light.

"That’s... my own energy?"

The Headless Knight stood up. He reached his hand forward and then he flicked his finger.

Twack!

His blazing finger hit the wall... and then a force of the same size, with blazing white energy, hit his stomach.

The Headless Knight froze. "Well... shit!"

Jade was thinking the same thing as he watched the Scar member struggle her way over. "Look, you’re injured. Do you think you can take me on? I saw you use almost all of your powers earlier. You can’t afford another fight at this moment."

But Lito didn’t say anything as she limped forward. Her sharp purple eyes, like claws, were fixed on Severin.

Severin chuckled and then he stood up. "I think it’s time for you to go now, Jade Callahan."

Jade frowned. "Do you really think I can’t take her on like th..."

Suddenly he froze and slowly turned. "You... you can walk!"

Severin snorted. "Of course."

"Since when!" Jade recoiled away and moved with astonishing speed, swinging his bow between Severin and the approaching Lito. "So you’ve been faking it all this while!"

"Of course not. But the effect of the paralysis gets weaker each time it’s administered."

Jade gritted his teeth and then he sagged. "Damn it!"

With a small flash of light, he disappeared.

Leaving Lito and Sector alone, with the Headless Knight still battling in the shield.

"Ah! Thank you for saving me, Lito! I wouldn’t know what to do without you here!"

Lito’s eyes were dark and cold as she fixed them on Severin. "You little shit! Do you honestly think you can just do what you want? You! You are the cause of all of things! My family, everything was ruined because of you!"

Severin stood smiling and frowned instead. "You really shouldn’t be angry."

She stopped and blinked. "What?"

Severin sighed. "Why are you angry? What gave you the right? Yes, I leaked information that led to the raiding of the Scar that killed your family, and so? Haven’t you killed others as well? Haven’t you ruined lives casually?

"Or do you think because you have some sad and pathetic backstory you’re allowed to destroy others’ families? But frankly, what were you expecting? That you’re going to get some happy ever after bullshit?"

"If you want to kill me then just come and do it. Stop standing on some moral high ground bullshit. Shut the fuck up and don’t be hypocritical."

Lito was entirely stiffened. Surprise and shock seemed to have made her face harden into a mask. "You...!!"

She clenched her jaws so tight that they sounded like stones grinding. Then she took a deep breath and forcefully calmed herself. "Right. I want to kill you because you’re a piece of shit."

Severin spread his hands and laughed. "Good, good. You can now try your luck. But it won’t be easy. How many times have you tried to kill me now?"

Before she could say anything, Severin continued speaking. "See. I’m even helping you buy time, for you to have enough energy to try and kill me."

"So before then, let’s talk."

Severin’s face couldn’t be read behind his mask, so she just stared at him, her own face tightening up. She didn’t like the fact that he was so close and yet she hadn’t recovered and couldn’t be accurately sure she could hit him with one attack.

"I know of a way to fix what’s happening to you," Severin said.

Her face tightened. "What’s happening to me?"

"Your talent took a hit when you were advancing, since it was done so with rush and a disadvantage to your body. I know a way to fix it and fix it quickly.

"I might have a big operation that’s coming in the coming months, and your powers are valuable. What do you think? You can try to kill me later after that."

Her eyes narrowed. "Why don’t I just kill you now?"

Severin shrugged. "Well. You’ll use your last bit of power to try and kill me. Before you can regain your energy and teleport, reinforcements would be here. They sent signals at the start of the fight. And Jade is only going to add more."
