Chapter 135: Severin Reignhart

Darius Faulkner stood in front of the hall, his one eye glaring at the students. "Just like the past Heroes, like the first Heroes did. They raised their weapons and stood against the end of the world. When humanity was at the peak and we were about to be the new stars in the galaxy, the evil that was the Aberrant Singularity stood in endless tide to swallow us."

His eye scanned the room. "But we are still here. Do you know why? Because we are humans. We are stubborn. Again and again, we will stand and we will fight."

"Zenith Hero Academy has stood at the forefront of the fight now. We train the new Heroes that would stand and stand after countless falls."

The room was silent and there was a strange air in the hall. It wasn’t as if what the Head Instructor said was rousing, or he said anything to get their blood boiling.

No, it was simply the truth they acknowledged. It’s the truth they all know. An air of solemnity hung over all of them.

Surprisingly, the Head Instructor smiled. "The Academy is like a pit. A pit filled with all kinds of poisonous things. Filled with little dragons and wolves. Only those who can step on the other with the flesh of the others will climb up.

"We are not just raising Heroes. We are raising power. Because when our enemy, the one against humanity, raises its head again, you will not be separated by factions, by politics. There will only be power! Only power will protect what you want!"

The room had turned even sharper. The students’ eyes radiated with resolve to get power. It was as if at that moment, all of the students were sharpening their swords.

Murderous aura boiled subtly in the room, quickly getting stronger.

His voice echoed in the room. "Although humanity might have survived, it’s not over, is it? We are in a cage, like a fish in a trap in the sea, surrounded by sharks!

"We were humiliated! We were chased out of our planets. Places we conquered in our glorious Era! We were hunted and eaten! We, the new star that should pierce the dark!"

The room was now filled with aura as the students, who weren’t expecting such, felt their blood boil. They wanted to howl into the sky and punch through space and erect the flag of humanity all over.

Darius Faulkner let them rage. He let it sink in. They should know what was lost. Wealth of potential was lost. They know it and know the pain that comes with it.

But slowly, the hall calmed down, glittering eyes set on the Head Instructor.

Darius Faulkner gestured to the orb floating in front of him. "Today is the day to know what type of student the Academy has been raising."

"Those that will raise the new hope of humanity, those that would be at the forefront, or those at the back."

He paused, and then he suddenly clapped. "Alright, students. Don’t forget, for those of you that will be advancing from year one, know that there won’t be separation of class—only one separation. Upper and lower class.

"We will determine that today."

Darius Faulkner lifted his head and set it on one person among those in the room. His one eye was piercing as he set it on the person. "Lucas Dawn."

The room rustled slightly. They all knew the name. It was the name of the first person to advance in year one. The one who stood above the whole class. And during the mid-year test, where they were given the opportunities to hunt in the dungeon.

His team had demolished the dungeon in such a frightening way that he made the difference clear between him and his classmates. Recently, some of the Houses had been bothering him too hard, and one of them even kidnapped his team members.

People didn’t know what happened in the said House building, but half of the House building was burnt down and the House leader scared so hard that he had been providing resources for Lucas Dawn and his team for free.

Lucas stood and strode to the front. He moved effortlessly, and his eyes were calm and firm. The star of year one.

He placed his hand on the orb, and for an instant, there was nothing. The grey orb was still, but then it suddenly spilled out golden light in a rush.

The blinding light flashed in the room like a small star, so bright they all shielded their faces.

Darius watched the light with a greedy look on his face. He smiled and shouted, "Lucas Dawn! Refined Advancement Stage, upper class year two!"

Lucas didn’t smile or frown. He simply nodded, as if it was his right—something he had personally worked for and was just reaping the benefits.

"Talon Kareth!"

When Talon placed his hand, there was also golden light, but it wasn’t as bright as Lucas. But it was there. Talon scowled as he was placed in upper class as well.

"Jade Callahan!"

One by one, they called them. Most of them that had advanced to the Refined Stage were already on the list. It was just a matter of sorting them into upper or lower classes.

And on and on it went, name after name, until there weren’t enough names remaining.

"Ethan Aldrich!"

Ethan was called, and he went with furrowed brows, his eyes on the entrance door. He placed his hand on the orb, and it glowed a strong gold.

Darius Faulkner watched him and then said quietly, "Sorry for your loss."

Then in a louder voice, just as Ethan’s eyes widened, "Ethan Aldrich, upper class!"

"Julius Crane, upper class!"

"Serena Ashford, upper class!"

"Celia Hartwell, upper class!"

"Derrick Vance, lower class!"

Derrick grumbled. Although he expected it, the dark look on his face only turned more ugly. Only those at the A and S ranks, with the occasional B, are allowed in the upper class, and even with Severin’s power, he is at B.

And then they called the last person on the list. "Severin Reignhart!"
