Trash Prince and Ice Queen 10th Re - Life-Chapter 163: A Touching Farewell for The Next Plan
Inside the house, while Alicia, Milia, Beatrice, Adeline, Rosalind, Claudia, Mirea, Ainsley, Geoffrey, and Irwin played with Lugerna’s children in the backyard and looked around their garden, Lugerna and her husband Bromir invited Ard, Eva, Pyria, Irina, Elmer, Thorena, and Grethia to sit and talk at their large dining table, with Luca and Gigi sitting in the middle. Grethia was momentarily surprised because they actually provided chairs that fit her size; the reason was that many giants lived in the city and blended in like ordinary citizens.
"I see, the civilization here really is completely different from the one on the other side," Grethia said.
"Yep, that’s why I protect this city and this civilization. If anyone tries to cross over from the opposite continent, I’ll definitely sink them, whether by air or sea. This civilization is over 500 years old, and while you all were at war on the other side, this place just kept growing," Luca replied proudly.
"Hmm," Gigi murmured.
"What? Do you have something to say?" Luca asked snappishly.
"Nothing," Gigi answered.
"So... you guys are humans, elves, and demons... there are civilizations of yours on the surface?" Bromir asked Ard, Eva, Pyria, and Irina, who clearly didn’t understand and knew nothing about the world above.
Ard, Eva, Pyria, and Irina immediately explained everything about the surface to Bromir and Lugerna, who looked impressed but also a bit skeptical and interested at the same time. Elmer, Grethia, and Thorena, who had already heard the explanation, just sat quietly and listened without saying a word. Ard and Eva even shared that they once lived in a world with a similar civilization but inhabited only by humans; as a result, the society and technology in this current city weren’t foreign to them at all—instead, it felt like a wave of nostalgia.
"Oh, is that so? So Earth is pretty much the same as this city?" Pyria asked.
"Yep, exactly. Being in this place, Ard and I feel like we’re right at home," Eva answered casually.
"Hmm... I did hear stories from the Dragon God about Earth, but I never imagined there was a city like Earth in our world, let alone one beneath the surface," Irina murmured.
"Bedryt? The Dragon God?" Gigi asked.
"Yeah, he’s the Dragon God... you forgot already?" Luca asked from beside her.
"I don’t remember everything yet," Gigi answered.
"Take it slow, you’ll remember eventually. I was the same way; I only just remembered things about our world from 500 years ago," Luca replied, patting Gigi on the back.
"Yeah, but for some reason, I remember being angry at you," Gigi replied, turning to give Luca a sharp look.
"Hooo... you looking for trouble with me?" Luca asked defiantly.
"Hey... what is wrong with you two? Please don’t bring your ancient drama to this table," Ard said.
"Fine," Luca and Gigi replied in unison, as they both turned around and sat back-to-back, folding their arms over their chests and pouting, just like two little children who had been fighting and got scolded by their parents.
"But why did the egg hatch?" Eva asked Lugerna.
Lugerna turned toward her husband, Bromir, who gave a nod, then she looked back at Eva. She explained that when she married and started a family in this house, she placed Githiess’s egg in the warm and sacred basement. Eventually, she forgot about it and left the egg down there because she and Bromir believed it was the safest place—until ten years ago, during the night, they suddenly heard the sound of a baby crying, not through their ears, but in their heads.
At first, they thought the sound they heard was a restless spirit that sometimes wandered around their neighborhood. But as they focused more closely, they realized the voice echoing in their minds was coming from the basement. Bromir and Lugerna, armed with a rifle and a frying pan, cautiously went down to the basement; they were shocked to see a tiny baby girl among scattered eggshells, with wings on her back and feet like those of a bird.
When they found her, they didn’t realize the baby had come from inside the egg; instead, they thought the baby had fallen onto the egg and broken it. Since they didn’t know her origins and the couple couldn’t just leave a baby like that, they ended up raising her and naming her Gigi.
Year after year, Gigi lived with Lugerna and Bromir, who loved her with all their hearts like their own child alongside their biological children. When she reached age five, her feet, which originally looked like bird feet, changed into human feet, allowing her to run around instead of hopping.
They lived peacefully as a family until a year ago, when Gigi turned ten and announced that guests would be coming to the house. Those guests would be a human couple and their group consisting of various races like elves and demons. When they arrived, Gigi would have to go with them to save the world. Naturally, Bromir and Lugerna were shocked and saddened to hear their daughter’s story.
It was then they asked Gigi who she really was, and she explained that she was actually Githiess, the primordial dragon ruler of the skies who held a place on the surface, and that she had previously been inside the egg that hatched.
"That was the moment my husband and I finally understood that Gigi was the incarnation of the goddess Githiess, who belonged on the surface and was born from the egg I brought here," Lugerna said.
"If it’s truly Gigi’s destiny to go with you all, my wife and I don’t object. We’ve been preparing ourselves and mourning this since a year ago," Bromir added, putting his arm around his wife, who leaned into him and wiped her tears with a napkin.
The room fell silent once more. Thorena stood and embraced Lugerna, and Grethia joined them, hugging both Thorena and Lugerna as they held each other. Then, Elmer turned to look at Ard and Eva.
"Do you really have to take Gigi away?" Elmer asked, looking heartbroken himself.
Ard and Eva glanced at each other, then turned to Irina, who was also watching them. Afterward, they looked back at Elmer and seemed to think for a moment.
"Hmm... our mission was to find Githiess’s egg and secure it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean taking her away, does it?" Ard said.
"That’s right. So, in principle, we’ve already completed our task because Gigi isn’t an egg anymore, and she’s clearly safe here," Eva added.
Bromir and Lugerna immediately turned to Ard and Eva with faces full of hope, as did Thorena and Grethia. But suddenly, Gigi stood up and looked at Ard and Eva.
"We have to go... I must return to the sky," Gigi said shortly. She then turned to look at Bromir and Lugerna, who were staring back at her. "Papa, Mama, I love you, and you’ve taught me so much. Most of all, you taught me about love. I want to stay with you, but I can’t... I have to return to the surface for the sake of the world. But I promise, once things on the surface are settled, I’ll come back here and live with you. Until then, please wait for me," Gigi said, and this time she smiled with teary eyes.
"Just like she said," Luca added, acting casual and indifferent.
Without delaying any longer, Bromir and Lugerna stood up, walked over to Gigi, and embraced their youngest daughter. Lugerna sobbed uncontrollably and, like a true mother, she gave Gigi plenty of advice—telling her to eat regularly, not to stay up too late, not to be naughty, and all those sorts of things. Meanwhile, Bromir simply held Gigi and his wife without saying a word, even though it was clear from his face that he wanted to break down and let all his emotions out.
Ard, Eva, Pyria, and Irina were moved by the sight, but they couldn’t do anything since the decision belonged to Gigi, who was clearly no ordinary being. Meanwhile, Elmer raised a finger to his eye to wipe away a stray tear. Thorena and Grethia were also crying, as they could feel the weight of letting someone they loved go to an unknown place.
After a few moments, once the atmosphere had begun to calm down, Elmer turned to Ard and Eva.
"When do you plan to leave?" Elmer asked them. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"As soon as possible. Right now, we have no idea what the conditions are like on the surface," Ard answered.
"That’s right. The sooner we leave, the better," Eva added.
"Alright. I will return to the Kingdom of Grimgrath and handle everything there. I ask you to please look after my sister Thorena, as it seems she wants to go with you," Elmer said.
"Fine, leave it to us," Ard replied.
"Let me go with them too. Elmer, my dear, please tell Papa that I am going to the surface with them," Grethia said.
"W... what? You’re going too?" Elmer asked, shocked.
"Yes. I will represent the giants and fight alongside them. Please tell my father to prepare everything in Tartagia. I believe in you, my love," Grethia answered with a smile, her eyes meeting Elmer’s with total conviction.
Elmer fell silent and looked down. He seemed to be thinking, a whirlwind of emotions crossing his face. After a moment, he looked back at Grethia, hopped down from his chair, and walked over to her.
"Alright, honey. I understand. Leave everything here to me. When the time comes, two kingdoms will head to the surface to support them," Elmer said.
"Thank you, love," Grethia replied, leaning down to embrace Elmer with all four of her arms.
"Alright, time to head out to the Western Continent... I’ll show you the way," Luca said, climbing down from her chair.
"Yeah, thanks, Luca," Ard replied.
They continued their conversation, with Ard, Eva, and the others asking for three days to prepare everything for their journey back to the surface.
