Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon's Might-Chapter 10 - : Breaking Defense
Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Breaking Defense
"You're finally back..."
Salovis was lying on a bed of pebbles set up by Leon in a simple fashion. When she heard footsteps and opened her eyes to find Leon, she lazily propped herself up, looking somewhat lethargic.
Leon still had the effects of the spell for understanding languages on him, so he could naturally understand what Dragon Sister was saying, but replying was difficult for him. He could only stumble through with the few words he just learned and said, "You, why?"
"Wow, you learned to talk?" Dragon Sister exclaimed in surprise. She originally spoke in Dragon Language, but now Universal Language slipped out. It seems that the practical knowledge inherited from their parents comes to mind when needed. She then bared her teeth, "Did you learn it from that guy named Edwin?"
Disdain filled her voice; it was clear she had a very poor impression of Edwin. The reason was simple: she suffered a setback from a Magic Statue when she approached that estate previously. Unable to win head-on and attempting to fly and use Flame Breath, who knew that the statue was not very vulnerable to flame damage and it could throw stones to attack her.

Not just that, when she went back to Mother Dragon with her injuries to complain, all she got was a cautionary advice, "Do not go near there."
She swore that when she grew up, she would definitely tear down that Magic Statue.
"Yeah," replied Leon. "Why?"
Enduring for the moment only made her more outraged, and retreating even a bit made her feel more aggrieved. Surely, some guy who looked imposing was just for show, not practical at all. Let alone a sword found from who knows where—looks fierce but is actually not useful in reality... Dragon Sister snorted and turned in place, "This hole you dug is not bad; it's mine now."
Leon thought Dragon Sister came over for some matter, but it turned out to be merely provocation, making trouble out of nothing.
He was angry because he couldn't use Flame Breath and responded with a curse in his native tongue.
Compared to the breadth and depth of Chinese, there were thousands of ways to curse. Someone without cultural knowledge might not even understand, and in Universal Language, there are only a couple of such words, pitifully few... Perhaps because he hadn't mastered those words well, what a pity.
"You're courting death," responded Salovis, as she heard Leon's words and immediately crouched low, issuing a roar.
"Come at me," Leon retorted unceremoniously; he was looking for a place to vent.
Dragon Sister wasn't just all talk, she took action without any nonsense. She kicked off with her legs and pounced towards Leon.
Typically, Leon, relying on the robust body of a Red Dragon, charged forth with brute force and wasn't used to dodging. He didn't sidestep—not that the narrow nest gave him space to do so but stood up to face Salovis.
His idea was simple: grab Dragon Sister's head as she charged into his arms, twist it aside, throw her to the ground, and declare victory. However, his stubby arms simply couldn't accomplish that.
The brawl between the two baby dragons was nothing but wrangling and wrestling; it was a test of raw power and endurance. After all, they were both Red Dragons, even from the same parents, hatched within five minutes of each other, making it difficult for one to overpower the other at that moment.
Five minutes passed in a blink.
Ten minutes just as quickly.
But it was Leon, after all, who breathed in nature's spiritual energy every day, absorbing Sun and Moon Essence whenever possible, inherently male, with more opportunities for hunting and self-training away from his parents, bigger in size, and stronger in strength and endurance. Even if he couldn't gain the advantage right away, over time he slowly gained the upper hand.
Unexpectedly, that guy had quite a bit of strength. Realizing she was at a disadvantage, Salovis, being a true Red Dragon in every sense and much more ruthless than Leon, bit into Leon's thigh. Teeth grinding against scales, a cringe-worthy sound was emitted.
Leon, thinking the children were just roughhousing, didn't expect Dragon Sister to lash out so wildly. In the moment he opened his mouth to respond as he had been taught, he remembered a documentary he had seen before, his gaze landing on Dragon Sister's neck, hesitated for a moment before biting down.
Not just major arteries were located in the throat, but also the windpipe. Going for a bite in such a location was risky; whether it was cutting an artery or the windpipe, the prey would die quickly, thus a throat lock is a lethal blow.
However, Leon naturally wasn't so heartless; even if he didn't finish off Dragon Sister with a throat lock, at the very least it would cost her half her life.
He bit into Dragon Sister's neck, slowly increasing force, prompting her to concede.
With growing pressure on her neck, Salovis, who had always been sensible about timing, surrendered on the spot. She let go of Leon's leg and shouted, "Let me go!"
Leon released Dragon Sister's neck.
With her head held high, neck shaking, Salovis demanded, "Why are you biting randomly?"
"You, first," Leon could only utter one word at a time.
Dragon Sister blinked, unabashed, "I just bit your thigh, but you bit my neck."
Leon refused to argue and coldly stated, "No more fighting, get lost."
"We are not done fighting yet," insisted Salovis, now sure that Leon wasn't all show. But she still had her trump card, "This place is too small, let's take it outside."
"Fine."
Salovis crawled out of the cave and turned to find her brother following with a sword, questioning, "Putting on airs, can you even use it?" It's unheard of for a Dragon to wield a sword. She had tried to grab a small stick before; she could pick it up, but swinging it was a no-go, probably the same for Leon.
```
"Just try and you'll know." Leon sat back, stood up on his two hind legs and tail, and swung his sword twice.
Seeing Leon swing his sword, Dragon Sister's expression froze for a moment.
Witnessing the dumbstruck look on Dragon Sister, Leon felt quite pleased with himself.
"Go ahead, I'm allowing you to." Salovis flapped her wings and took to the air, "Come and chop at me."
She knew Leon couldn't fly.
"As you wish." All those days of practice hadn't been wasted, and with a flap of his wings, Leon took off into the air.
Salovis fell silent, and a moment later, she opened her mouth to release a Flame Breath towards Leon, saying, "Take your sword and try to catch up to me." She truly couldn't believe that among siblings, Leon could be a bit stronger, but she doubted he could outfly her while carrying such a heavy sword.
Red Dragons have Flame Immunity, so Dragon Sister's Flame Breath couldn't harm Leon physically; it was nothing more than an exasperated attack. However, it was precisely this burst of Flame Breath, strikingly accurate, that hurt Leon where he was most vulnerable, as he hadn't yet mastered Flame Breath. It was salt rubbed into an open wound.
"There's no need... to fly. Go!" Leon enunciated each word, tossing the sword into the air after a flick of his hand and using the Sword Control Technique to direct the Flying Sword at Dragon Sister.
Salovis immediately felt uneasy when she saw Leon swinging his sword and started flapping her wings to gain altitude. She flew dozens of meters, convincing herself that his throw couldn't possibly reach her, but when she turned her head back, she saw a streak of white light whizz past her head.
Dragon Sister instinctively followed the white light and saw the Flying Sword make a loop in the sky, heading straight towards her and skimming past her head once more.
After this back and forth, she realized what was happening, especially when she saw the Flying Sword land firmly back in Leon's hand.
"Convinced now?" Leon snorted at Dragon Sister, who landed on the ground in a flustered daze.
"What kind of spell is that?" Dragon Sister asked eagerly.
Leon glanced at Dragon Sister but didn't answer her question, turning his head and crawling back into the den.
"Tell me now," Salovis insisted, biting the tip of Leon's tail.
Leon pulled his tail free and brandished his sword at Dragon Sister in a silent threat.
Salovis watched as Leon's figure disappeared into the burrow, feeling somewhat dispirited.
The guy was stronger looking than her, had more beautiful scales, and was a born Spellcaster who awakened a spell during his baby dragon stage?
Meanwhile, Leon wasn't exactly happy, since defeating Dragon Sister didn't grant him mastery over Flame Breath. As he casually tossed the sword onto the ground and was about to sleep, a ding-dong sound echoed, followed by the black list popping up again with a line of text lighting up.
"Behave yourself, your reserved food—suppress and defeat your siblings, and declare yourself the boss."
"Ordinary Reward: Mind Capturing Gaze."
The conspicuous red text unsurprisingly jumped out.
"Error!"
"Error!"
"Error!"
"Unmatched!"
"Re-searching!"
"Searching... Match successful."
"Ordinary Reward: immobilization spell."
An immobilization spell? Leon pondered on the newly mastered spell and glanced back.
"Why are you out here?" Still unable to accept reality, and having been sulking over what she thought was her foolish elder brother, who turned out to be a genius, Salovis spotted Leon's head and then saw him point at her, becoming instantly stiff all over.
That guy didn't just know one spell; he knew two!
Salovis, recovered from stiffness after a few seconds, looked foolishly as Leon retreated back into the burrow. She blinked, unable to hold back her tears, and let out a cry, sniffling heavily.
God shuts one door but opens a window. But God not only opened a door for him, he didn't shut any windows and even gifted a luxurious manor, a carriage, maids, a mountain of gold and silver treasures, and so many more things...
