Chapter 45: SysDi 45: Willpower, Intellect and Perseverance 7
There is a faint light that enveloped Evan’s leg that made him turn away for a moment. He waited for the light to disappear before he looks back at his leg.
He had no injury before, so he wasn’t expecting it to work. The dark corridor was just giving hi penalties because he forcibly and stubbornly continued. For all he knew, he’s probably just tired.
Evan tried to stretch his leg. Surprisingly, it’s not wet with the water anymore and he can move it freely. He folds and unfolds it two more times before he is satisfied with how much smoother his movement is.
"It did work." Evan sighs in relief. Well, at least if he has a way to go back, he could probably finish the other corridor he left unexplored.
He shifts to his other side, so his right leg will get the same treatment. Soon, water was poured from his right knee, a faint light came from the entire leg and thigh that made Evan look away for a moment to shield his eyes, and then stretching it the same way he did on his left leg just to be sure and he is done.
He stood up and jumped, trying to make sure that he did have better mobility. It did. He could move much faster now. In fact, if he didn’t know any better, he felt as if he is faster before the the dark corridor happened.
But that would be impossible. He didn’t level up and he almost reached 0 hit points. There’s no way he has a better agility now. He checked his status after almost dying. His agility numbers didn’t change.
Instead of dwelling on that, Evan felt the ground rumble that he almost lost his footing. He ducked down, to gain more balance as the entire room began to shake.
He looked around in alarm, not knowing what to do. Is he cave ceiling falling in? He remembers that his point of entry disappeared earlier. Where is he going to go now?
A loud ’splash!’ caught Evan’s attention. The path in front of him emerged from the water, connecting the path he is now on, to the other side of the cave. He path didn’t look stable at all, but at least it is a possible way out.
The cave stops shaking, and so did the rumbling. Evan slowly stands up with his arms outstretched just in case something moves out of nowhere again. Taking a deep breath, he finally took the first step.
The first step created ripples in the water. Evan’s eyes wanted to focus on the path he is walking towards but he got distracted with the pattern his feet were making. Another step forward and another set of ripples, as if a drop of water fell from the ceiling and created the pattern it is showing him.
The ripples keep showing up with every step, until Evan reached the end of the path. When he did, he released the breath he didn’t know he was holding.
He let out a shaky sigh, before looking around him. There is a narrow passageway from the wall on this side. It meant he does have a way out from this side, thankfully.
Evan looks at the cave one last time before nodding to himself. He’ll remember where this was and he can come here again soon only if he really needs to.
Before he could leave, a panel shows up in front of him.
Ping!

Evan looks at the panel for a moment, re-reading the words because it wasn’t clicking in his head.
"I leveled up..." Evan muttered, staring at the first part. Fast Travel...
His eyebrows furrowed, trying to remember what fast travel was. It was familiar. He must’ve read it in one of the books.
Either way, he had access to the map. But he’s it in the mood to explore more about what he had gotten. He’ll look into it more once he is out of here.
Another step towards the passageway he thinks is the exist and another panel shows up in front of him.

You’re attempting to leave the Cave of Underwater Lake of Boon.
You will return at the starting point when you do.
Are you sure you want to leave?
[Yes] [No]
----- ----- -----
What is the starting point?
Even if he has no idea what that means, Evan is more than inclined to agree to it. There’s no way back that he had seen. Add to the fact that he is so tired he is willing to sleep for an entire whole day’s worth when he gets back.
"Yes." Evan says out loud.
He felt enveloped by something as a bright light enters his vision. He shut his eyes tight to prevent him from being blinded. When the light disappeared, he slowly opened his eyes.
In front of him... It was the two main branching paths, the left and the right. He knew that it was the main one because the smooth stone in the middle was still in a language he couldn’t understand. It is the only smooth stone he had encountered that he couldn’t read.
He looked up at be ceiling. There was a point where he thought he would just get lost inside, unable to find a way to return. But now, it felt great to be back.
"Haaaaah!" Evan yells briefly before closing his eyes in relief.
His sense of time had been weird so he didn’t know if he had only been gone a few hours or maybe days. Hopefully, not the latter, but he’s not about to remove that possibility.
Now that he knows where exactly he is, it is time to make his way back.
