Sword Among Us-Chapter 1206: Reaching Flame Town
Rumble…
Orderly sounds of horse hooves rose. A group of hostile looking men snapped their reins. The wind howled, and they arrived outside a small town.
"Whoa…"
As someone rather fierce-looking and who looked like the leader shouted, the group quickly came to a halt, and they stopped at a high spot outside the town.
The leader looked down and pointed at the very dilapidated and desolate town.
"Flame Town is ahead of us! Everyone, get your spirits up!
"The leader has said that quite a number of people in the Chinese plains have already obtained news and are rushing over to stop us! Our mission this time is to make sure that Flame Wolf leaves the Chinese plains with Tiger Soul! Listen to me, if anyone causes the mission to fail and the leader blames us, don't blame me for turning my back against you by then!"
The group of people behind him did not move, as if they were made of a group of mutes, but the qi spreading out of their bodies and their fierce eyes weighed more than any words.
The fierce-looking leader looked into the eyes of all the people behind him and let out a huff of satisfaction.
"Giddy-up!"
He clamped down on the sides of his horse and rushed to the town below him like an arrow.
"Kill all the people in the town! Spare no one!
"There is no one protecting the town anyway! Have a group of people station themselves at the Guanlin Temple here and kill them until they leave the game!
"We must definitely not let anyone affect Flame Wolf!
"Kill them!"
Rumble!
The horses stomped on the ground.
More than one hundred people charged into Flame Town with fierce looks. They arrived like a tidal wave.
It was a pity for Flame Town. It had just become slightly livelier because all sorts of people had arrived, but that liveliness was instantly destroyed.
Rumble!
As the sounds of horses stampeding against the ground to reach the town rose, a few short and furious shouts quickly rose in the town.
"Ah! Who are you—"
It was as if someone had suddenly stuffed their voices back into their throats.
The abnormal screams in the town and the endless sounds of hooves thundering against the ground quickly caught the passersby's attention. Many people came out of the simple and dilapidated houses made of emptied out mounds of earth.
Three Persian players drew their curtains and walked out while they cursed up a storm, and they were greeted with dust wafting above their curtains.
"Damn it, this stupid place… It's no wonder why there isn't anything here…"
"Who's causing a ruckus outside?"
"This is…"
When the trio stood in the street, they were just in time to see a stranger holding a throwing knife that had sunk deep into his neck, and his body fell to the side slowly…
"Careful!"
The trio were shocked. Right when they drew their weapons, a silver light suddenly tore through the air under the scorching sun like a sentient snake. It nimbly wrapped around one person's neck.
The other two heard the sound of wind, and they saw a black figure jumping over their companion's head. As for their companion, he had his head fall on the ground, a clean cut on his neck.
Thud!
Blood gushed into the sky.
Their faces instantly turned as pale as ashes.
They understood their companion's strength the most, and no ordinary person would be able to kill him so easily.
Their morale was destroyed, and they turned around, prepared to run.
Whoosh…
The person behind them flicked his wrist, and a silver thread spread out swiftly, bringing with it a terrifying light by the side. A faint sound rose in the air and bound these two people tightly.
Thud! Thud!
These two people were shocked. Before they could take action, the mysterious person had already drawn close to them like lightning. At some point of time, he had daggers appear in his hands, and they sank into these people's chests.
The sound of their flesh being pierced did not change the person's expression. It remained as indifferent as ever on his average-looking face.
The person looked as if he had done something very insignificant. With nimble and relaxed movements, he drew out his dagger. With a light tug, he withdrew the silver thread, and he charged to another direction.
"Damn it!"
"It's Wild Wolves!"
"Run!"
Someone in Flame Town finally reacted to it. They found some familiar figures in the crowd and recognized them. Their pupils shrank, and without another word, they ran in directions with no one around.
Slap!
Right when they jumped over the simple and crude streets in the town, they suddenly heard clear booms and the sound of wh.i.p.s cracking.
One person felt something tighten around his legs, and his momentum came to a halt.
"This is bad!"
His expression changed. That person did not have time to lower his head to check; he had a thin, long, and black whip that came out of a street bind his ankle, and he was dragged back fiercely.
Bang!
He slammed violently into the sand in an incredibly pathetic fashion.
When he got up, he saw a snow-white saber and a pair of bone-chilling eyes. The final sounds he heard were the sound of his body being pierced through and of his blood gushing out.
His consciousness was swiftly destroyed.
"Ah!"
There were more than one hundred Wild Wolves, and all of them were top-class elites. Killing the normal players in Flame Wolf was as easy as breathing for them.
In less than two minutes, they killed all the people inside and outside Flame Wolf, and they completely occupied all the high spots as well as its Guanlin Temple.
At the Guanlin Temple, a group of people were squashed inside. Their faces were pale as they stared at the dozen corpses scattered outside. Across them were a few men and women with cold expressions. These players did not dare to walk out of the gates of Guanlin Temple at all.
A rather brave player sucked in a deep breath in the crowd.
"We have no grudge against Wild Wolves! Why did you kill us?!"
"That's right! That's going overboard!"
"What right do you have to kill us for no reason?!"
That one sound stirred up multiple other voices. The people in the Guanlin Temple agreed to him and started denouncing Wild Wolves. Even so, they still did not dare to step out of the temple.
As they faced the curses and questions, the Wild Wolf who seemed like the leader of this group put on a troubled expression. "Are you kidding me? When have we ever needed a reason to kill someone? When have we ever needed to give others an explanation?"
"..."
That one sentence caused everyone in the Guanlin Temple to fall silent.
"From now on, shut up and listen!" The person who had spoken up just now shouted. This time, his voice became sterner and ruder.
"Take one step out of the Guanlin Temple, and we will kill you!
"You have the right to try and test our patience. I guarantee you, they will make trash like you live a very 'happy' life." He used a very cruel and cold smile to end his speech.
"Hey, come over for a moment! We ran into some tough ones over there! They're causing a bit of trouble!"
Someone shouted loudly in the distance from a high spot.
The leader frowned a little. Then, he cast a glance to a few of his companions to ask them to take care of the place while he swiftly turned around and left.
Silver Wolf, Knife, Bar, and Thunder each occupied a spot at the direction where the town gate of Flame Town was. The people surrounding them had grave gazes.
Strewn around them were the corpses of eight Wilf Wolves. Their body temperature remained, and their loathing as well as their disbelief before they died remained stuck on their faces.
This was also why the Wild Wolves in the area did not immediately take action!
They could tell that while the four people in front of them had average equipment, their weapons were pretty decent, and they were also pretty strong. By the looks of it, they relied on a pretty good sword formation to largely increase their strength. Their overall strength had been increased by leaps and bounds, and they could not be killed with normal methods.
When the fierce-looking leader rushed over, he brought more than twenty people behind him, and they came with a mighty, murderous presence.
Silver Wolf and his party frowned.
"Hey, a lot of people came."
"Seriously? I'm beginning to REALLY admire how Wild Wolves operates." Knife had a cold expression on his face while he intentionally spoke loudly. The mocking tone in his voice was very clear.
"Lovely Land?"
The fierce-looking man cast a glance at the sect emblem on Silver Wolf and his party's chests. His pupils shrank a little. "Where is your sect master?"
"Where do you think he is?"
Silver Wolf and his party knew that this group of people have become wary and were puzzled, so they intentionally spoke with a tone that would lead them down one train of thought and misguide them to increase their doubts.
But against their expectations, when they heard Silver Wolf's answer, the group across them became calm once more.
"He shouldn't be in the desert, then." The fierce-looking leader thought they were just putting up a front, so he instantly calmed down.
Someone reminded the leader with a whisper into his ear, "These four people seem to be skilled with a rather powerful sword formation. Soon, Flame Wolf and his group will arrive. If we can't get rid of them by then…"
"Don't we have a group of people who know the Forbidden Daiya Technique here? Put up that matrix. I'd like to see whether their sword formation is stronger, or whether the Forbidden Daiya Technique is stronger!" The fierce-looking leader cast a fierce gaze at Silver Wolf and his group. "End the fight as quickly as possible."
Right after he finished speaking, the group moved back swiftly.
As Silver Wolf and his party had their expressions turn solemn, nine people walked out of the crowd.
"Careful. They might be the ones who can use the matrix that allowed Wild Wolves to kill someone in the dao of heaven."
Silver Wolf and his party sent messages to warn each other.
Even Happy had mentioned that Wild Wolves might have monopolized a matrix that is more powerful than the Four Matchless Sword Formation. It was a matrix that could allow them to fight against those in the dao of heaven.
Naturally, Silver Wolf and his party had to fight against it carefully.
But Happy had already headed over in search of Tiger Soul, and he gave them orders to try and hold back as well as kill Wild Wolves.
Hence, even if they had to face the Forbidden Daiya Technique, they could only grit their teeth and stand in place.
"Fortunately, there seems to only be one group…"
"I heard that a lot of their people who are skilled with the matrix died to kill that person in the dao of heaven. It's a huge formation, so we might have a chance."
"Stop talking! Form your formation and attack!"
"Attack!"
Silver Wolf, Knife, Bar, and Thunder each occupied one spot and suddenly flicked their wrists.
Buzz!
The air suddenly resonated in a miraculous fashion, and a clear sword whine traveled into everyone's ears.
Four powerful sword wills gushed out of Silver Wolf and his party's bodies.
Across them, eight Wild Wolves pushed their palms forward at the same time.
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
When eight people's qi were sent into the body of the person in the lead, a power as mighty as the mountains descended swiftly to fight on equal grounds with the four sword wills.
Two waves of qi crashed into each other violently.
The group's gazes instantly turned fierce, and their fighting spirits burned in them.
"The leader sent a messenger pigeon!"
"Read it!" Peach Blossom said firmly.
Behind them, Flame Wolf killed another two of their members by the sides of the group and chased after them. He was now getting closer to them.
"The leader said that the people receiving us have already arrived at Flame Wolf to clear the area. They're only waiting for us to go over now to immediately take our place and escort Tiger Soul away from the Chinese plains!"
Immortal frowned and asked, "How far away are we from Flame Town?"
"Sixth-tenths of a mile at the very most!"
"Great! Everyone, hurry up! Once we gather up with everyone, we'll bring Tiger Soul to Flame Town safely and take it out of the Chinese plains! Then, we'll have succeeded!"
However, at that moment, a scout ahead of them gave a report.
"There's someone ahead of us!"
