Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 93: Trust
Moira Young waited for a long time but received no answer. She couldn’t help but laugh bitterly; just now, she had foolishly hoped for something. How ridiculous it all was!
She opened her eyes, wanting to push Julian Sinclair away, her tone indifferent, "Let go of me."
"Believe me one more time." Julian Sinclair was reluctant to let go; after so much effort to hold her like this, how could he just let go?
"What do you have for me to trust you?" Moira Young forced herself to calm down in his arms, but it seemed useless; her mind was still a mess, with a voice desperately shouting not to leave this embrace.
"I just have one last thing to do, and everything will be over. Trust me." Julian Sinclair always believed actions were the best way to prove promises, but he didn’t know that what Moira Young needed most now was an explanation that could relieve her.
"You said you wouldn’t leave me alone, but what did you do? I always thought I hated you because of all that, but..."
Moira Young’s eyes were teary, "After so long, I realized that I never hated you for using me as a pawn in your plans. I only hated you for cruelly abandoning me when I was most desperate and helpless!"
"Julian Sinclair, you have no idea how I survived that period. You will never know..."
Julian Sinclair’s eyes reddened, "I know... I know..."
"You don’t know! You know nothing!" Moira Young roared lowly, completely unable to control her emotions, even forgetting that Julian Sinclair had just undergone surgery. She struggled with all her might and finally broke free from Julian Sinclair’s embrace.
Julian Sinclair’s pupils contracted; he subconsciously wanted to reach out and grab her, but he missed, and his shoulder began to ache intensely.
"Adrian Grant said it was you who saved me from the fire that day. I almost believed it foolishly, but clearly, it was Heath Sterling who risked his life to save me and got hurt!"
"Heath Sterling got injured twice, both to save me! And you, besides using me and deceiving me, what have you done!"
"I don’t know what you’re planning to call me back, nor whether you’re deliberately getting hurt here to gain my sympathy and guilt. But I’ll never go back with you in this lifetime!"
"Absolutely impossible!" Moira Young wiped her tears messily with the back of her hand, not glancing at him again, and ran outside.
Moira Young didn’t care if it was raining outside. She rushed onto the main road and hailed a cab back to Heath Sterling’s house.
She locked herself in a room, sat on the floor, wrapped her arms around her knees, cried until her heart broke, yet couldn’t make a sound.
She felt like she was about to collapse.
Her heart longed to go home with Julian Sinclair, so longing for his embrace, so wanting to go back to the past...
Yet, she couldn’t get over the hurdle in her heart; she feared that if she chose to believe him once more, she’d be abandoned by him without reservation again.
If that heart-wrenching pain came once more, she knew she wouldn’t be able to endure it.
Moira Young cried for a long time until her tears dried up. Only then did she struggle to stand up from the floor, open the door with a dazed look, and walk to Heath Sterling’s room.
A thought flashed through her mind; she wanted to see if Heath Sterling’s wrist was burnt.
She tiptoed into Heath Sterling’s room, holding her breath.
Just as Moira Young’s hand touched Heath Sterling’s wrist bandage, she jerked back like touching an electric shock.
She suddenly didn’t understand what she was doing...
Moira Young held her breath as she returned to her room. As she felt dizzy, she fell onto the ground, bruising both knees, but she didn’t seem to feel any pain. She propped against the wall to walk into the bathroom and took a scalding hot shower to stop herself from overthinking—pretending today’s events never happened.
After she showered, she tossed and turned on the bed, feeling uncomfortable for a long time before finally falling asleep.
Upon waking, her knees throbbed with a faint ache.
"Moira—" Heath Sterling’s voice came from outside the door. He lightly knocked on the door and seemed to leave when he didn’t get a response from Moira Young.
Moira Young lay in bed, motionless, tears sliding down her cheeks. If death weren’t painful, she would definitely choose it again.
Half an hour passed like this, then Heath Sterling knocked on the door again.
"Moira, are you awake? I happened to catch the last breakfast batch and bought some dumplings and chicken soup. Let’s eat together?"
Moira Young sat up from bed; since she chose to forget last night’s events, she couldn’t face life with such a depressed attitude.
She tried hard to force a smile, though her voice was hoarse from crying, "Okay, I’ll be right there."
Outside the door, Heath Sterling was first stunned, then said, "I’ll wait for you downstairs."
Moira Young dragged her heavy head to wash up, changed her clothes, and went downstairs.
"I haven’t touched the food, waiting for you!" Heath Sterling had arranged the dumplings and chicken soup he packed, constantly swallowing, looking eager.
Moira Young sat down, and after she took her first bite of the dumpling, Heath Sterling started to eat.
"These dumplings taste pretty good; try the chicken soup," Heath Sterling gestured for her to taste the chicken soup.
Moira Young took a sip, and suddenly it was as if her brain nerves snapped one by one—this taste was just like Mrs. Miller’s soup...
She didn’t know what was wrong with her and started uncontrollably crying, like a fool.
Heath Sterling panicked, thinking the chicken soup was poisoned, "What’s wrong with you! Don’t scare me! This chicken soup can’t possibly make a normal person burst into tears, right?"
At those words, Moira Young cried even harder.
"Oh goodness! What on earth is going on here! Don’t cry; I know I was wrong, okay?" Heath Sterling didn’t know why Moira Young was crying; regardless, he apologized first.
Moira Young didn’t know how to respond to Heath Sterling’s words; she couldn’t possibly say she was homesick.
After a moment, she finally managed to control her negative emotions, and Heath Sterling looked at her worriedly, afraid she might start crying over something unknown again.
"Shall we not drink the chicken soup?" Heath Sterling wanted to take away her chicken soup, but Moira Young snatched it back and drank a lot of it in one go.
"Since you’re feeling bad, why don’t I take you to an amusement park today?"
Moira Young nodded; now all she wanted was to replace the thoughts in her head with other activities.
Heath Sterling drove her to the amusement park; since it was the weekend, there were many people. Somehow, Heath Sterling got tickets that allowed them to skip the line and go straight through the VIP entrance.
Heath Sterling was not new to the place; he knew it quite well and took Moira Young to play some of the less thrilling activities.
Moira Young played a few activities, feeling something was off.
She looked around and realized mostly children were playing in this area. It dawned on her that Heath Sterling was taking her to the kiddie rides!
"Heath Sterling, this is the children’s area. Did we go the wrong way?" Moira Young looked at the little girl shorter than herself in front of her with some embarrassment.
Heath Sterling beamed, "You’re just a child after all!"
"I’m clearly an adult... We should leave; I feel like they’re looking at us oddly, as if we took something from them."
Heath Sterling refused to leave, "They’ve never seen a pretty sister like you or a handsome brother like me!"
Moira Young chuckled, pondering where he got such gall.
"We’ll finish this ride and go; I just want you to be happy like a child." Heath Sterling offered her a big smile, "You should smile like this."
Moira Young looked at his silly face and couldn’t help but laugh, "Oh, that’s so ugly!"
Suddenly, a little girl nearby poked Heath Sterling’s thigh, looking annoyed, "Brother, you look so ugly that way."
Heath Sterling’s face instantly darkened, "Shoo shoo shoo! What does a little kid know!"
Moira Young truly wanted to laugh, leaning on the railing but holding back, "Kids never lie..."
Heath Sterling rolled his eyes, "Anyway, I’m the most handsome in the world."
