Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Thunderstorm

As Heath wiped Moira Young’s tears, the bandage on his injured wrist suddenly loosened, causing his heart to jump. His gaze flickered, and he immediately used his other hand to cover the wound.

Moira didn’t see it clearly, but for some reason, she felt that the wound looked like a knife cut.

It resembled the one on her own wrist, except hers was horizontal, and Heath’s was diagonally vertical.

Heath turned around, "I’m going to the bathroom to rebandage the wound, wait here for me."

Moira nodded obediently, thinking perhaps she had seen it wrong, maybe the burn indeed looked just like a scar.

After a while, Heath returned with the wound rebandaged.

"Let’s go home; after staying in the hospital for so long, I don’t want to stay any longer." Heath grabbed his coat.

"Okay."

After leaving the hospital, they took a cab back to Heath’s apartment.

Needing rest, Heath headed straight for the guest room and lay down, but Moira dragged him out and led him to the master bedroom.

——

The Sinclair family.

Julian Sinclair had been listening to Adrian Grant all day until Adrian fell asleep on the sofa out of exhaustion.

"Had enough sleep?" Julian wasn’t used to having anyone other than Moira sleep near him, even if it was on the sofa and not the bed.

Adrian, who wasn’t a deep sleeper, woke up at the slightest noise.

Groggily, he checked his watch, "Oh! It’s already one o’clock!"

After hesitating for a moment, he said, "Since it’s too late to go back, I’ll just stay here for the night."

With that, he lay back down and continued sleeping.

Julian couldn’t do anything about him and, unable to sleep himself, picked up his phone to text Butler Liu, asking him to find out if Moira was at the hospital or at school.

Only once he knew Moira had returned to her normal life could he be at ease.

A little while later, just as Julian was about to put his phone down, thinking Butler Liu had fallen asleep, he received a call.

"Young master, Miss Moira has been with Heath Sterling since early yesterday morning and hasn’t returned to school. The exact location is still unclear."

Julian’s eyes suddenly narrowed, and he immediately replied, "Find out."

"Yes, young master."

As soon as the call ended, Adrian opened his eyes like he was watching a show, "I talked to you for ages, and you had no reaction, but the moment I mentioned Moira being taken away, you get all anxious?"

"Are you worried they might end up living together? Afraid Moira will feel so guilty about the past that she’ll offer herself to him?"

Adrian smugly turned over, "Based on what I know about that girl, without you, she would end up with Heath."

Julian was already furious from what Butler Liu had said, and Adrian’s provocation only made him more restless.

Annoyed, he got up from the bed, grabbed Adrian’s coat, and walked out.

Adrian hadn’t expected this and missed his grip, nearly falling over, "Hey! If you’re leaving, fine, but why take my coat! It’s expensive!"

Having yelled, he then clutched his stomach, laughing till it hurt, knowing he had provoked Julian on purpose.

Adrian had spent the whole afternoon lecturing Julian with no visible impact, but the moment Butler Liu mentioned Moira left with Heath and hadn’t returned to school, he suspected they might do something impulsive.

That’s when he realized all his previous attempts to persuade Julian were in vain and entirely unnecessary.

Julian slammed the door in clear anger directed at Adrian, then called Butler Liu again to send a driver over and quickly find out Moira’s current whereabouts.

He had to go over there now; he couldn’t allow Moira to have any inappropriate relationships with anyone other than him!

In the middle of the night, Butler Liu spent a long time finding the address, then followed the driver to pick up Julian.

"Young master, it’s a small villa Heath bought himself, not far from here."

Julian got in the car, exuding an icy presence, "Are they together now?"

Butler Liu’s voice trembled a little, "Yes..."

Julian said nothing further as a terrifying aura filled the car. Both the driver and Butler Liu held their breath, afraid to disturb him.

Julian’s shoulder still ached; the doctor had said the burn needed careful treatment and shouldn’t be moved excessively. Butler Liu often thought of reminding him to rest, but he didn’t dare to say it aloud.

As soon as they reached outside Heath’s place, rain began to fall.

Already autumn, it gradually turned into a heavy downpour, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

"Young master, we don’t know which room Miss Moira is staying in." Butler Liu looked around. Although the villa was small, it had several bedrooms, and due to his age, he didn’t consider the possibility of a shared room.

Julian was also uncertain at first, but then the heavy rain started, with the thunderstorm.

Moira feared thunderstorms the most. If he wasn’t there, she would certainly turn on the lights.

The thunder echoed again.

Sure enough! A light turned on in the bedroom on the left side of the second floor!

Julian breathed a slight sigh of relief, thinking that Moira had turned on the light because she was scared, indicating she was alone in the room.

"Young master, it seems like it’s Miss Moira’s silhouette."

Moira walked to the bed and adjusted the tightly drawn curtains. From the gap, Butler Liu vaguely saw Moira.

"Find a way to open the door," Julian said faintly.

"Julian, isn’t this improper? After all, it’s someone else’s house, and this is called trespassing," the driver hesitated. He knew Julian was influential and didn’t need to worry, but as just a driver, if they were indeed reported, he would be the scapegoat.

Butler Liu agreed with the driver’s reasoning, but no one could prevent Julian from doing what he wanted. He patted the driver’s shoulder, signaling him not to worry.

"Young master, I’ll give it a try." Butler Liu, having lived for so many years, had some skills.

"Wait—"

Just as Butler Liu was about to open the car door, Julian stopped him.

The curtains in Moira’s room were suddenly opened. She stood at the massive French window, staring blankly at the black business car parked at the entrance.

When she had tightly closed the curtains earlier, she vaguely sensed something outside, but due to her fear, she didn’t dare to look. However, curiosity eventually overcame fear, and she secretly peeked out.

It was then she discovered that Julian had found her here.

Moira’s eyes reddened, and she felt at a loss, thinking it was a hallucination.

Julian lowered the car window, and the two gazed at each other for a long time, so long that Moira almost forgot the heavy storm outside.

A loud thunderclap jolted her body, sending her nine years back in time.

Tears suddenly streamed down her face as the cruel scenes from when she was nine resurfaced in her mind, haunting her dreams relentlessly.

The faces of shirtless men wearing sinister grins, the heart-wrenching cries of agony—nine-year-old Moira never fully grasped her mother’s pain and despair at the time, but now it was different.

Having faced life and death twice, Moira didn’t understand the agony of assault, but she knew the feeling of being on the brink of death!

Horrifying memories played out vividly before her eyes, as if she had returned to being nine, carrying the same feelings forward. She relived her mother’s suffering...

Her mother, fallen and lifeless... the white dress stained with blood... her tear-streaked, scarred face...

Moira clutched her head desperately, barely holding on, fighting for breath, for help, but all her numbed body could do was collapse to the ground....

The anguish spread through Julian’s body, his bloodshot eyes turning fiercely cold as he commanded in a low voice, "Open the door!"
