Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 71: Chasing Her
Moira Young felt a bit awkward and didn’t say anything further.
Heath Sterling’s phone buzzed again with another text message, but Moira Young focused on her reading and didn’t pay attention.
After reading the text, Heath Sterling’s expression changed; he replied quickly, full of displeasure.
Just then, Moira Young’s phone vibrated too, and she glanced at it.
It was a forum link; upon clicking it, there was another photo of her with a highly sarcastic title, "Beauty and the Luxury Car, Moira Young has climbed onto which tycoon’s wealth this time?"
Moira Young’s eyes sharpened; she knew that getting out of Julian Sinclair’s car in front of so many people would surely spark discussion.
And now, with the evidence right there, how could she possibly prove she had no relationship with them?
"Don’t look at this rubbish!" Heath Sterling snatched Moira Young’s phone and tucked it into her drawer.
"But it’s true..." Moira Young suddenly wanted to use this opportunity to sever ties with Heath Sterling, "I really did get out of that car last night and did receive sixty thousand from someone."
"So what?" Heath Sterling raised an eyebrow, dismissive of such matters.
"Heath Sterling, being with me won’t bring you any good, it wasn’t two years ago, and it’s not now." Moira Young stated solemnly.
"I don’t care about all that!"
Seeing this approach wouldn’t work, Moira Young fell silent.
After class, wherever Moira Young went, Heath Sterling followed. She went to the cafeteria to eat, and Heath Sterling tagged along, tray in hand, to sit opposite her.
The school food wasn’t very tasty, and this was Heath Sterling’s first time eating in the cafeteria; he gave up after one bite.
Moira Young didn’t expect the meal today to be so unappetizing; she forced down a few bites but also couldn’t continue.
Heath Sterling sneaked a few glances and asked, "Can’t you eat either? Want to go out to eat?"
"I know a nice restaurant just outside the school; you’ve gotten thin from hunger these past days, it must be because the school food doesn’t taste good. Let’s go, I’ll take you out to eat!"
Moira Young didn’t know how to refuse, and indeed she was craving a meal outside, so she followed Heath Sterling.
Just as they exited the school gate, Moira Young spotted Julian Sinclair’s car, surprisingly still parked there all afternoon.
Heath Sterling was oblivious to Moira Young’s thoughts, caught up in the joy of getting her to go out for a meal.
"Turn here and we’ll arrive; thankfully, it’s only five o’clock, not crowded, no need to queue." Heath Sterling led Moira Young into the alley behind, seemingly designed for students, with many distinctive little shops.
"All these places are delicious; what do you feel like eating?" Heath Sterling asked.
Moira Young glanced around and saw a fish soup shop; it had been a while since she had Mrs. Miller’s fish soup. "Could I have fish soup?"
Heath Sterling nodded, "No need to be so courteous with me; whatever you want, I’ll make sure you have it."
Moira Young’s cheeks began to warm; she slightly lowered her head and entered the fish soup shop.
Inside, there were only a couple of students; Moira Young picked a seat to sit, while Heath Sterling fetched a menu from the counter.
"Here, order anything you like."
Moira Young took the menu and looked through it; everything on it appealed to her, making her involuntarily swallow as she struggled to decide.
"How about... you decide?" Moira Young awkwardly handed the menu back to Heath Sterling, "I’ve already chosen the fish soup."
Heath Sterling’s heart fluttered at her cute demeanor, a smile gracing his lips as he casually ticked off a few choices, "Don’t worry, everything here is tasty."
"From now on, just tell me what you want to eat, if you’re tired of the food around school, we’ll go further." Heath Sterling lifted a set of keys proudly, "With a car, you decide where to go."
"No need to trouble yourself." Moira Young pretended not to hear the first part.
"By the way, I have a race coming up; would you like to watch?"
"I’d rather not; I’m thinking of finding a part-time job." Moira Young wasn’t particularly interested in racing.
Heath Sterling looked a bit deflated but understood.
"Fish soup’s ready!" The owner brought the soup to the table, "First time here? Try it and let me know any feedback!"
Moira Young was a bit uncomfortable with the owner’s enthusiasm, just managing a polite smile.
"Isn’t the decor in my shop intriguing? A dating spot, right? Haha! Enjoy your meal! Call me if you need anything!" With that, the owner returned to the kitchen.
Moira Young was too focused on eyeing the fish soup to hear the owner’s words clearly, simply offering a silly grin.
Feeling secretly pleased, Heath Sterling served Moira Young a bowl without much thought, recalling her days at the Sinclair family where she was used to having meals presented to her; it would take time for her to adjust her habits.
Heath Sterling had heard from Carter Porter about Moira Young’s Uncle, who was none other than the influential figure Julian Sinclair.
Understanding Moira Young’s upbringing with the Sinclair family was indeed bountiful, Heath Sterling knew he had to actively care for her.
More dishes gradually arrived, and indeed they were delicious.
Moira Young had spent nearly a month at the Porter family’s house; though the food was good, it never felt like home, always keeping her restrained and cautious.
This meal seemed to be the most comfortable she’s had since leaving the Sinclair family.
They took their time eating; Moira Young naturally chewed slowly and carefully, and with the variety of dishes, many students came into the shop as evening approached.
Heath Sterling had long been full; he hadn’t anticipated Moira Young’s considerable appetite, still eating...
Moira Young took another sip of fish soup, suddenly sensing eyes on her, slightly raising her head to meet Heath Sterling’s intrigued gaze.
Feeling immensely embarrassed, aware she had eaten too much today, she immediately put down her spoon.
"There’s still plenty of fish soup, have some more." Heath Sterling, noticing her embarrassment, served another bowl.
"Lots of people are queued outside, I’ve had enough, let’s go." Moira Young genuinely felt it was inappropriate to continue eating, signaling to stop.
"I’ll go pay the bill; you enjoy a bit more soup." Heath Sterling stood to head over to settle the bill.
Moira Young called him back, "Wait a moment."
"I should pay, you hardly ate anything..."
Heath Sterling chuckled, "A gentleman doesn’t let a lady pay!"
Moira Young couldn’t argue against him, so she let him buy the meal, sneaking another sip of fish soup as her day’s troubles faded.
As they left together, Heath Sterling showed Moira Young some nearby places, contemplating trying another shop tomorrow.
In her heart, Moira Young still longed for fish soup; back at the Sinclair family, if she fancied something to eat, she’d indulge for days.
Showing hesitation, she declined his offer.
"What’s wrong? Not satisfied with these small eateries’ meals? How about I drive you somewhere upscale, you might enjoy it more." Heath Sterling assumed Moira Young disliked these quaint alleyway shops.
"No, no!" Moira Young hurriedly gestured, "I really like them, the taste’s great; it’s just that we shouldn’t... appear together like this."
"Why not? Even if you don’t want to be my girlfriend, can’t we at least be friends? Carter Porter can always be in and out with you, why not me?" Heath Sterling, while aware Moira Young wouldn’t be accepting him anytime soon, knew from the moment she tossed the necklace into the pond.
Heath Sterling now dedicated himself to pursuing her, believing that even an icy heart would eventually thaw with persistence.
"You know why." Moira Young puffed her cheeks, a bit annoyed.
