Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 70: It’s You
Not long after, the police arrived and asked a few basic questions. Actually, these types of incidents involving stolen items within the dorm are countless and rarely recovered, especially since there are no cameras in the room, making it quite difficult to find them.
"Moira Young, right?" The police officer was recording the statement and suddenly felt the name was familiar when recording her name. He looked up at her face, finding it even more familiar.
"Yes." Moira nodded.
"What is the market price of the necklace?"
Moira thought for a moment. She knew that the custom brand was extremely expensive but did not know the exact price or even have a rough idea.
Thea Thorne, who was sitting beside her, rolled her eyes and said irritably, "At least six million, customized at least double that."
"Plop—"
Everyone turned their gaze towards the corner where the sound came from, seeing Lisa Webb’s pen drop to the ground, which she picked up hurriedly.
Then the statement continued smoothly, "How could you dare to keep something worth millions in the dormitory?"
"I had nowhere else to put it." Moira glanced at Thea, her words implying something, "I didn’t expect anyone to steal it. The necklace is abbreviated with the last two letters of my name, very unique. I—"
She suddenly choked up, her eyes flickering, "When it was given to me, they said it was one of a kind in this world."
Officer Miller observed Moira closely, recalling the little girl from nine years ago, and couldn’t help but ask, "Your parents’ name, age, and home address."
Thea mocked, "Officer, don’t you know Moira Young’s father is Arthur Whitman?"
Officer Miller suddenly put on a serious face, "Arthur Whitman?"
"Officer, I am an orphan. My mom died nine years ago. You can check the records if you don’t believe me." Moira clenched her fists, her heart aching slightly.
Officer Miller looked into Moira’s eyes and suddenly remembered; she was the girl whose mother died tragically in a karaoke hall back then.
He didn’t expect that this child had grown up so beautifully.
"Who’s the last person you saw handling the missing item?" Officer Miller asked.
"Her—" Moira pointed at Thea.
Thea jumped up from her chair, "Officer, I really didn’t steal her necklace!"
"Explain your contact with her necklace in detail."
"Well, Paige and I took out her little box, opened it and saw it was a necklace, then Paige and I put it back in the box. When Moira returned, Lisa suddenly lunged and grabbed the box, which fell from her hands." Thea explained truthfully, feeling some apprehension in front of the police.
"Who is Lisa?" Officer Miller glanced around, his gaze locking onto the inconspicuous girl in the corner.
The one who dropped the pen earlier was also her.
"I... I am..." Lisa pushed her glasses up, walked over with her head down.
"What’s in your hand?" Officer Miller noticed she had been holding her left hand tightly, never letting it go even when bending down earlier to pick up the pen.
Lisa bit her lower lip, trembling in a panic, unable to say a word, clutching her left hand even tighter.
"Could it be? You stole it?" Thea couldn’t help but laugh, relieved, and sat back in her place, "You usually seem so quiet and unnoticed, but at crucial moments, you open eyes wide!"
"Open your hand." Officer Miller ordered sternly.
Lisa remained still, her breathing gradually becoming rapid, her left hand instinctively trying to retreat.
"Honesty leads to leniency, resistance leads to stricter punishment. Haven’t your teachers taught you this? If you’re not willing to hand it over now, later when you go to the police station it won’t be so voluntary." Officer Miller said.
Moira didn’t expect Lisa had the chance to steal the necklace!
She watched Lisa lunge over, how did she not realize Lisa took the necklace?
"Hurry up!" Officer Miller suddenly commanded loudly, scaring Lisa into a tremble, quickly extending her hand.
The necklace indeed lay in Lisa’s palm, covered in sweat.
Moira pursed her lips. Her initial intention was just to retrieve the necklace, not to trouble anyone. She voluntarily said, "Since the necklace is found, I don’t want to pursue the matter further."
Officer Miller closed the notebook, nodded, "Girls’ dormitories easily develop conflicts. I don’t care for what reason you got into an uproar over a necklace, but if it happens again, all four of you will be taken to the police station, understood?"
All four nodded repeatedly, Officer Miller took another look at Moira and left.
Thea saw the police leave and her confidence immediately rose, "Moira Young, now that the matter is clear, how will you account for misunderstanding me earlier?"
"And how are you going to account for slapping me twice?"
Moira didn’t want to back down, the more she did, the more Thea would push. "Then how are you going to account for breaking Heath Sterling’s necklace?"
"I was standing up for him; he’s devoted to you, yet you play around being someone else’s lover. You really have the nerve!" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Moira sighed, it was useless to explain certain things; she didn’t want to elaborate further.
Seeing that it was almost time for afternoon classes, Moira grabbed her books for the class and left.
Having skipped lunch and gone through waves of trouble with the necklace, resolving all this chaos had been difficult, leaving her faintly feeling a headache.
When Moira arrived in the classroom, she found Heath Sterling already there, seemingly waiting for her.
"Moira Young, where were you this morning?" Heath walked over, looking sleepy.
Moira shook her head, "Nowhere."
"Let’s sit in the usual place!" Heath, being straightforward, believed what Moira said and proactively pulled out a chair for her.
He went to such an extent; even if Moira didn’t want to sit there, she had no choice.
"Didn’t you sleep well last night?" Moira noticed his dark circles almost extending to his cheeks and couldn’t help but ask.
"It’s nothing, small matters," Heath was slightly embarrassed.
Moira didn’t ask further, opening her book to study the new lesson from the morning. Heath’s phone forgot to be on silent mode, a message came through, and Moira accidentally glanced over, catching sight of the words "competition notification."
She bit her lower lip, holding her breath; was Heath going to compete again?
"Heath, are your medals all kept at home?" Moira asked tentatively, wanting to know if Heath was aware that a medal was missing.
Heath responded indifferently, "Mm, they’re all at home."
"Except for one that’s at yours."
Moira’s heart skipped a beat. She was confused about what to say when she felt something wasn’t right.
He knew the medal was with her, how? Did Carter Porter find it when he was rummaging through her bag and then told Heath?
No, if Carter had found it, he would have returned it directly to Heath or asked Moira why the medal was with her.
"Stop thinking; I intentionally gave it to you that day." Heath finished replying to the message and smilingly looked at her.
"What?"
"My awarded honor, I most want to share with you."
