Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 319: The Truth
Joe giggled and said, "Moira, President Sinclair said he’s bringing you a late-night snack. Are you really not going back?"
Moira Young’s gaze was firm, but her hand unconsciously reached out to Joe. However, the words in her mouth were still angry, "I’m not going back!"
Joe chuckled and quickly handed her the phone.
She saw the message, which read: Moira, I’ll come over later. What do you want for a late-night snack? I’ll bring it for you.
Moira Young lightly coughed a couple of times, thought for a long time, and then had Joe reply: Hot pot, rice, and chicken stew.
Joe hesitated for a long time and didn’t send it, rubbing her nose with some amusement, "Moira, didn’t you recently say you wanted to eat pig stomach chicken hot pot? It’s good for your health, not spicy. How about we have President Sinclair buy that?"
Moira Young rolled her eyes, turned her back, and didn’t answer.
"Should I send it?" Joe asked, playfully raising the phone towards her.
Moira Young still didn’t speak, so Joe took it as consent and quickly sent the message.
Upon receiving the message, Julian Sinclair immediately knew it wasn’t in Moira Young’s tone. He could even imagine Moira’s awkward expression at the moment.
His lips couldn’t help but curve upwards slightly, which startled everyone sitting below him.
"What’s with President Sinclair?" the new assistant asked, puzzled. It was the first time he’d seen Julian Sinclair with such a gentle expression. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"What else could it be? Miss Moira must have messaged him." The veteran employees knew clearly in their hearts.
The assistant was confused, "Who’s Miss Moira?"
A veteran employee glared at him, whispering a reminder, "You don’t even know Miss Moira? Fine, I’ll tell you after the meeting. You better be polite when you see Miss Moira in the future. Otherwise, with President Sinclair’s temper, he might just flay you alive."
"Oh." The assistant dared not ask more but grew more curious about Moira Young.
After the meeting, Julian Sinclair directly went downstairs to leave, leaving everyone even more stunned. They were all just about to go home after work when the boss called them back for an emergency meeting.
Now that the meeting was over, he didn’t make them work overtime, and the boss just left.
Geez...
Many people sighed, confirming that men in love are truly capricious.
But it seemed their boss was mercurial even without being in love.
Julian Sinclair, following the message’s suggestion, quickly ordered a pork stomach chicken hotpot delivery, picking all the things Moira Young liked, seemingly wanting her to have her fill.
Moira Young, waiting for what seemed like forever, hadn’t seen Julian Sinclair’s figure, and a barely visible hint of disappointment flashed in her eyes.
Another half an hour passed, and Julian Sinclair was still nowhere to be seen.
Moira Young glanced at her phone; it was nearing midnight, and she would soon fall asleep if he didn’t arrive.
Just as Moira Young was dozing off, the hospital room door finally opened under her expectant gaze.
Julian Sinclair’s tall figure appeared in front of Moira Young. At first, she opened her mouth in surprise, but realizing her reaction wasn’t quite right, she quickly restrained her expression, her face instantly falling.
"What’s wrong, unhappy?" Seeing Moira Young’s quick change of expression, Julian Sinclair chuckled softly.
"You left without a word. Do you think I should be happy?" Moira Young frowned lightly. She wasn’t usually unreasonable. The incident that afternoon was indeed her fault, but Julian Sinclair wasn’t entirely blameless, was he?
Julian Sinclair slowly sat on the hospital bed, gently pinching Moira Young’s cheek, saying softly, "It was my fault. Don’t be mad, okay?"
"Hmph." Moira Young unhappily turned her face away, but her eyes changed noticeably.
In truth, she wasn’t really blaming him.
Hearing her haughty snort, Julian Sinclair knew she wasn’t genuinely angry.
But some things needed to be said; if kept inside, the gap between them would only deepen. So, he...
Just as he was about to speak, Moira Young’s awkward voice came to his ears, "I’m sorry."
"Hmm?" Her voice was too low, and Julian Sinclair squinted his eyes, not hearing it clearly.
"Uncle, I’m sorry. I won’t do it again." Moira Young stretched out her mummy-like hands, tightly hugging Julian Sinclair’s arm, her eyes showing regret, "Next time, I won’t keep mentioning other men in front of you."
"I’m glad you understand." Julian Sinclair fondly ruffled Moira Young’s little head. It was great that she understood his feelings.
The two chatted for a while before the delivery arrived.
Since it was a health-preserving hotpot, both the broth and the soup were highly nutritious, perfect for a patient like Moira Young.
Though not being able to eat spicy food was a pity for Moira Young, having it with sesame sauce was still a very good choice.
The broth of the pork stomach chicken hotpot was made using pork stomach, tea tree mushrooms, and high-quality free-range chicken. The resulting soup was delicious and rich in nutrients.
With Joe’s help, Moira Young drank two bowls of soup before slowly starting to eat.
"So delicious." Moira Young squinted her eyes in happiness after eating a piece of beef roll.
Since being hospitalized, with nothing else to do, her favorite activities were eating, drinking, and sleeping. Although she read books in her spare time, perhaps due to her diet being too bland, whenever she felt hungry lately, her mind was filled with thoughts of food.
After all, for people, food is the most important thing; no one can escape the control of appetite.
Thinking this, Moira Young felt at ease and ate with even more joy.
"I want that." Moira Young pointed to the lamb chop in front of Julian Sinclair and said.
Julian Sinclair indulgently cooked a lamb chop for her, coated it with sesame sauce, and fed it to her mouth, "Open wide."
"Ah..." Moira Young happily opened her mouth wide, taking a big bite, indescribably satisfied with her mouth full.
She once again closed her eyes happily, her whole being seeming to glow.
Seeing her eat happily made Julian Sinclair happy as well.
So, for the next few days, Julian Sinclair kept changing up delivery for her, with a variety of foods, though all light in flavor, yet offering many tastes.
During this period, Moira Young ate lavishly every day, and though she was hospitalized, her weight skyrocketed.
From just over eighty pounds at the start, she was now ninety pounds.
A whole six pounds!
Moira Young looked at herself still wrapped up like a mummy in the mirror, lost in deep thought. She murmured to herself, "Could it be that the bandages are too heavy? Is that why I gained six pounds? Must be, right? Otherwise, gaining six pounds in a month is too much, phew..."
Just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief, a cold voice came to her ears, "How could bandages possibly weigh six pounds, don’t you think?"
Moira Young turned around to see Aiden Webb’s cold face; she pouted, playfully chiding, "Senior, why do you have to speak the harsh truth!"
