Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 318: Not Replying
Throughout her life, Heath Sterling’s mother had never been reasonable. No matter the reason, she always blamed him for any mistakes, so Moira Young felt quite resentful towards her.
If she weren’t Heath Sterling’s mother, Moira might not have been so polite to her.
"I’ve been doing well lately, and she hasn’t been keeping tabs on me, so I finally got the chance to come out," Heath said, handing the gift to Moira Young. "Carter Porter asked me to bring this to you."
Moira Young’s attention shifted instantly. She looked at the novels in the gift basket with delight, her eyes shining brightly: "Carter is amazing. How did she know I’ve been wanting to read these two books? I heard they’re already out of print and hard to find. How did she manage it?"
"It’s likely thanks to Mimi," Heath responded, seeing her so happy, and his mood improved as well.
"Mimi?" Moira Young looked puzzled. Mimi’s family background wasn’t even as good as Carter’s; how did she get those out-of-print novels?
"Mimi’s cousin is a very famous writer. I think you should know her," Heath said, touching his nose and raising an eyebrow at her.
Moira Young was baffled again: "Who is it?"
"Mango Pudding."
"What???!!!"
Hearing the name, Moira Young was so shocked she almost couldn’t speak, and even Joe looked incredulous.
If it were someone outside the entertainment circle, they might not know who Mango Pudding is. But every actor in the industry knew her. Over the years, all the hit scripts, whether romantic dramas or thrillers, were written by Mango Pudding.
She wasn’t just a highly renowned writer in the country but also a well-known scriptwriter and producer.
Every script she wrote became a hit. Actors who starred in her productions all made it to the top, earning fame and fortune.
Since the day Moira Young entered the entertainment industry, her biggest dream had been to act in one of Mango Pudding’s productions. But she knew she wasn’t good enough yet and didn’t dare aim too high.
Who would have thought that this godlike figure was actually Mimi’s cousin?
No wonder, no wonder Mimi could easily get those out-of-print novels. It’s rumored that the author of these novels had a great relationship with Mango Pudding, so it wasn’t surprising she could obtain them.
Moira Young remained in a trance for a long time, feeling almost out of body. There was a strange feeling she couldn’t quite describe.
"Moira, this is a great opportunity!" Joe exclaimed, raising his hands with stars in his eyes. "I didn’t expect Mimi’s cousin to be this famous scriptwriter. If one day, we could perform in her show, we’d definitely become hot stars in the circle."
"Yes," Moira Young couldn’t deny it because what Joe said made complete sense.
Joe hurriedly added, "Mimi is on such good terms with Moira, should we ask her to set us up?"
Before Moira Young could respond, Heath shook his head with a smile: "Forget it. Her cousin is famous for being strict and impartial; for a small thing like a book, it’s fine. But to act in her production, unless she finds the actor herself, anyone recommending good words won’t work."
"How do you know so much about her? Could it be..." Moira Young looked at him suspiciously, her mind working overtime.
Heath wasn’t afraid of Moira’s teasing; he admitted frankly, "Do you think I’m really content with playing the third male lead?"
"Heath, how dare you secretly ask Mimi to pave the way for you, are we still friends?" Moira Young pretended to be angry, raising her unbandaged fist.
But her stance was not intimidating at all, and was even so cute that one felt like pinching her puffy cheeks.
Heath chuckled and slowly explained, "I recommended myself and also put in a good word for you. But the result, well, you know it."
"Is Mango Pudding really that hard to deal with?" Moira Young frowned, rubbing her nose thoughtfully. "Then how can we get her to let us act in her productions?"
"Make her willingly choose you; there’s no shortcut. You can only let her see your talent. She only chooses actors based on their acting skills; popularity alone is worthless."
"But how can she see my acting skills?" Moira Young asked urgently. She figured Mango Pudding wouldn’t just watch her performances for fun, would she?
Heath raised an eyebrow and smiled: "Audition."
Moira Young fell silent. How could she have forgotten about that?
"But those who go to audition are usually newcomers or actors below the second tier."
"Why?"
Heath couldn’t help but laugh even more: "Because many top stars who went to audition were ruthlessly eliminated. Over time, except for those who thought their acting was exceptional, almost no one goes to audition anymore."
Moira Young couldn’t help but click her tongue: "Is it that strict?"
"What did you think? If she accepted anyone regardless of talent, who would want to watch the garbage films resulting from that?"
Moira Young nodded: "That’s true."
After a few seconds of silence, she added: "Let’s stop talking about this now. We’ll wait for a chance to audition later. But what about you? Isn’t it a problem for you to be out for so long?"
Heath checked the time and, with a slight frown, stood up: "It’s getting late; I should go back now and visit you again another time."
"Alright, be careful on your way." Moira Young lightly parted her red lips as she spoke to Heath.
"Don’t worry." Heath replied with a smile, indicating that he was fine.
As Heath reached the door, Moira Young suddenly spoke: "Heath."
He instinctively turned back: "What’s up?"
"I’m sorry, but also, thank you." Moira Young didn’t want to explain too much; she believed Heath would understand what she meant.
Heath flashed a bright smile at her, made a goodbye gesture, and softly said: "There’s no need for such formalities between friends. I’m leaving now; take good care of yourself."
"I will." Moira Young replied with a smile.
After Heath left, the ward fell silent once more. Everyone had their own things to deal with, and apart from Joe, others had less and less time to visit her now.
Moira Young exhaled lightly, feeling a strong sense of loss.
Once everything quieted down, her mind was filled with the image of Julian Sinclair walking away that afternoon. Her heart ached as if pierced by a thousand needles, making it hard to breathe.
But according to what Joe had said, she realized her mistake. Perhaps she really shouldn’t have shown so much concern for other men in front of Julian Sinclair.
Even so, he shouldn’t always leave her over such matters, should he?
Thinking about this, Moira Young felt a pang in her heart. He was always like this, avoiding confrontation. Couldn’t he resolve issues by speaking up?
Even if she was in the wrong, did he have to be so merciless?
Just as she was pondering this, Joe suddenly exclaimed with delight: "Moira, President Sinclair sent you a message."
"I’m not replying!" Moira Young turned her head away in frustration, but she felt a sudden sense of relief inside. Him sending a message meant his anger had mostly dissipated.
