Even though a security firm was a legitimate company, it dealt with all sorts of people. It was inevitable that some of those people would be criminals. Li Hao understood this very well as the former chief of the public security bureau. When he hear Wang Ping’s question he stared blankly and said, “Ironblood Security Firm? I’ve never heard of it. Was it just established recently?”

“Yes, our company hasn’t been established long. Mr. Ye has stock in our company. For the company to be able to get set up this quickly is thanks to Mr. Ye’s contributions.” Jack said. This was what Ye Qian instructed him to do in advance. He did not want Wang Ping to know too much about him too early, so he told Jack to say that he was a shareholder and not the real head of the Ironblood Security Firm.

“Oh, very good. A lot of the security firm’s in our city do not follow the law, it was something I worried about. In fact, a security firm can help maintain law and order in a large degree, it’s very important. Since Brother Ye is a shareholder of this company, in the future we’ll ask for your help to keep order in the community.” Wang Ping said with a laugh.

“Secretary Wang is being too courteous. The Ironblood Security Firm has just been established, a lot of services aren’t mature yet. But I believe we can all work together for the peace of Shanghai. Truth is, I brought Jack here today to ask for help from Secretary Wang.” Ye Qian said.

“Let’s talk about that later.” Wang Ping smiled, then said, “Brother Ye, have you eaten?”

Ye Qian stared blankly and couldn’t help furrowing his brows. This Wang PIng was crafty, he seemed to be stalling because he knew Ye Qian wanted his help. But Wang Ping did not directly say it, so Ye Qian thought it was best not to rush the decision. Ye Qian knew there were times patience was needed in dealing with these officials. He wanted the government official to be completely on his side and that was not an easy matter. Ye Qian laughed and said, “I already ate before coming here.”

“Oh, that’s fine, just eat again. I’ve been in meetings all day and haven’t eaten a thing so I’m a little hungry. Let’s go and talk while we eat.” Wang Ping said as he rose. “Xia-jie, serve the food.” The last sentence was naturally for the servant of the house.

Ye Qian thought it’s better than to refuse too much and said, “Then we’ll trouble you.”

“It’s just us, there is no need for such courtesies. Oh, Jack, wasn’t it? If you don’t mind, let’s go eat.” Wang Ping said.

“Thank you!” Jack said as he looked at Ye Qian. Ye Qian gave him a reassuring look and Jack didn’t say anything more. Jack handled a lot of things for the Wolf Fang so he knew more than Ye Qian about how to deal with government officials. But there was something different about China’s officials compared to other countries. Jack couldn’t grasp it so he let Ye Qian talk this genuine Chinese person.

Once they were seated at the dining table, Wang Ping turned to the servant and asked, “Where’s Xiao Yu? She isn’t home yet?”

“The young miss is home. She is resting upstairs right now. The young miss has already had dinner. She said not to call her to eat together when you secretary arrives.”

Wang Ping nodded and said, “Alright, there’s nothing we can do about that. Xia-jie, you may go.”

Xia-jie said yes and left.

Wang Ping turned to Ye Qian and said with a somewhat awkward smile, “I don’t know what happened to that girl. I don’t know where her mind has been these past few days. It seems she has some problems. If I ask her she won’t say. Ay!”

Jack gave Ye Qian a look and a thought seemed to form in Ye Qian’s mind. But it was not for certain so he didn’t want to randomly say things. Besides, even if it were true, Ye Qian didn’t know how to say it. “Miss Wang works as a police officer. Seeing murder cases all day might be too much pressure. I believe she will be fine after some time.” Ye Qian said.

“Oh? I didn’t know that Brother Ye was learned in psychology.” Wang Ping said.

“Secretary Wang is joking. How can a simple person like me know psychology.” Ye Qian laughed.

“Let’s have a drink?” Wang Ping asked.

“There is no need for that. I have to drive home. It’s a very serious crime to drive under the influence. I don’t want to be arrested tomorrow.” Ye Qian laughed and said. He knew Wang Ping was just asking casually, there was no wine on the table. It was obvious that Wang Ping didn’t really want to drink and was only being polite.

Wang Ping also laughed and said, “Come, let’s eat!” He said as he turned to Li Hao, “Xiao Li, Brother Ye is your Er Ge, you should take care him more.” Then he said to Ye Qian, “Brother Ye, we’re all family here, don’t stand on ceremony.”

“I have never been good with manners.” Ye Qian said with a smile.

Wang Ping nodded and turned to Jack and asked, “Where is Mr. Jack from?”

“The United States, worked public security. China is developing faster and faster over the years, I’m certain it will become a world power in a few years time. So I came to China, homing to establish an enterprise for myself. Of course this also had something to do with Mr. Ye. We are good friends. We met in the US and I got interested in China’s history and culture through his influence.” Jack said. “My investment in Shanghai was on invitation from Mr. Ye. After investigating the situation I felt that there was a gap in Shanghai’s public security, in technology and the people. Of course, I hope for Secretary Wang’s support in this.”

“Haha, China’s history is long and time-honored, a place derives glory from their sons. I hope we do not disappoint Mr. Jack. Mr. Jack worked in public security in America, I’m sure that with your experience and America's advanced technology, Shanghai will get a lot of help in the future development. Frankly speaking, I am very grateful to you.” Wang Ping said with a chuckle. “Did Mr. Jack learn to speak Chinese from Mr. Ye?”

“I found the language very interesting while I was studying in America, so I dragged a bunch of foreign exchange students and had them teach me.” Jack said.

“Which university did Mr. Jack attend?” Wang Ping asked.
