Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 102: Goodbye
The dining hall was bustling with disciples, mostly the ones who didn’t bother attending the new recruits’ ceremony. Still, there were many seats available, so Ye Jun and his group shared a table in a corner where they were sure no one could hear them.
"So, why did you do that?" Meihui asked, as they sat down. "I only understood parts of your plan."
"Quite simple. I can’t use the same tactics as before," Ye Jun said. "You found out about it so easily, so I’m sure others can guess too. But I need battles and the training of others, you know."
"I see." Song Liangxue nodded. "So, you chose to distract them with something else. Your incredible comprehension."
Ye Jun smiled and said, "Yes. I can comprehend Mysterious Techniques fast, so that’s the reason I fight often and wander around the training fields."
Before Meihui could say anything, he added, "That’s because my comprehension has a weakness, if you want to call it that. I can comprehend things faster by seeing others do it, rather than doing it myself."
"You thought of everything, huh," Meihui smiled. "I knew you weren’t impulsive."
"Oh, I am impulsive. I just have something to control those urges," Ye Jun shrugged.
Soon, their meal arrived as they began to dig in. It wasn’t lavish or anything, but no one complained. Even Song Liangxue, who was used to luxurious meals.
"You aren’t curious?" Meihui asked Mountain, who devoured twice their portion. "I mean, about the things we talk about."
"Useless to think about," Mountain replied flatly. "I like him, that is all I need to know. If he wants to tell me his secret, he would do so. Won’t force it."
"Your ability to draw strange people toward you is amazing," Song Liangxue said, giving an appreciative nod at Mountain. Clearly, she liked someone who liked her husband.
"Are you calling yourself strange?" Meihui asked, turning toward her.
"Strange is also used to describe exceptional people by the common populace, so I certainly am strange, and I’m proud of it," Song Liangxue smiled faintly.
"No wonder you two suit each other so well. Both narcissists," Meihui shook her head in dismay and then asked, "What about me?"
"Do I really need to point it out?" Song Liangxue raised an eyebrow.
Meihui opened her mouth to counter, but closed it soon. "Fair enough."
On the side, Ye Jun smiled. He was happy to see that the two were getting along. After all, he had plans of pursuing Meihui too, so he hoped for this development.
Fortunately, Song Liangxue was aware of his desires, so she was more forward in trying to befriend Meihui, and it was working well.
When their meal ended, Song Liangxue said, turning toward Ye Jun, "I’ll enter seclusion now, so I’ll miss your adventures here."
"I doubt it’ll be any good ones," Ye Jun shrugged. "Now, the whole sect is after me, kind of. Even if it’s good for me in the long run, I’m sure I’ll have to suffer quite a bit."
"And you don’t want her to see that?" Meihui guessed.
"You already saw me at my lowest," Ye Jun responded. "I don’t mind letting her do the same. Besides, a good relationship sails through dreadful oceans without breaking."
"Woah! Big words! Are you turning into a scholar?" Meihui gasped.
Ye Jun thought about it and said, "I can do that too. Maybe spout philosophical bullshit after every fight. Enemies wouldn’t even understand."
Meihui was left speechless. She was just joking, but Ye Jun took it too seriously. The worst part was that it was entirely possible. If he could comprehend normal Mysterious Techniques, what was stopping him from doing the same with scholar techniques?
She felt weird picturing him in a scholar outfit. She giggled, finding it too funny. "Muscle-head scholar."
"Young Master Rong is busy in his own fantasies," Ye Jun snapped his fingers before her and said. "Tell us about it." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Meihui felt heat rise to her face and quickly looked away. "It’s nothing."
Staring at her for a moment longer, Mountain shook his head in disappointment, which certainly amused Ye Jun and Song Liangxue.
"In any case, contact me if you want help," Song Liangxue said. "Also, after we’re done here, we will go to my homeland. I entered the sect without telling anything to my family, so I need to apologize too. And also introduce you to them."
"So after I advance to Soul Tempering Realm," Ye Jun nodded. "I look forward to it. Though, do tell me if they’ll kick me out. You know, for marrying their highborn daughter."
"Don’t worry about that," Song Liangxue smiled. "My family is the last one to care about such stuff. But they will likely test your competency."
"Oh. I’ll be prepared for that."
Meihui turned toward him and said, "Same for me, by the way. I’ll enter seclusion after this."
"I’ll definitely miss you," Ye Jun grinned and said. "I’m already used to seeing you in my room before I sleep."
"I-Idiot! Don’t say stuff like that," Meihui almost threw the table at him, her cheeks reddening.
"You know, your blushing isn’t helping the situation," Song Liangxue pointed out, and they both shared a laugh.
They continued talking for a few more minutes and left the dining hall. They stopped on the stone bridge leading to the central mountain where everyone’s abode was.
Song Liangxue stepped up to Ye Jun and kissed his cheeks. "Take care of yourself."
In return, Ye Jun embraced her and leaned down, capturing her lips for a passionate kiss. After over a minute, they separated with bated breaths.
"This is how you say goodbye to your husband," Ye Jun whispered in her ear.
"There are better ways to say goodbye, dear. Like you pinning me down on my bed, but we can’t do that, can we?" Song Liangxue took a bite of his nape and said, "And this is my mark."
"You vixen!" Ye Jun couldn’t stop himself from laughing out loud. "I really love you."
"Mutual feelings." Song Liangxue patted his chest, then backed away. "See you later."
Ye Jun wanted to give a hug to Meihui too, but she definitely misunderstood his intentions, so she punched him and ran off with Song Liangxue.
Mountain stood at his side, shaking his head. "I refuse to believe he’s a man."
