Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 389: Secret Boyfriend
"I guess he is not someone in this school," I said as I ran my mind through potential candidates who could be my sister’s true love.
"It’s a secret," Diana repeated again before pressing her index finger teasingly against her lips.
"Are you really not going to tell me?" I asked.
"Honestly, you have no idea just how much I am dying to tell you who he is. But you see, I did promise him to keep it a secret between us... at least for now," Diana said before flashing me a regretful smile.
"I don’t think I will end up liking this guy. He’s telling you to keep secrets from me," I replied teasingly.
"I’ll make sure that you’re the first one to find out," Diana promised me with a beaming smile.
"I guess that it’s good enough for me that you’re happy," I told her honestly.
"Thank you, Leya. I love you so much. You’re probably the only one who truly cares about my happiness," my sister said before pulling me into her embrace.
Back then, when I held my sister in my arms and hugged her back tightly, I had no idea that not so long after, things would not turn out the way she had planned and that I woudn’t be the first person to find out about her secret lover.
...
**A Few Months Later**
People like to say that there are no secrets in this world. There was a time when I was much younger when I believed that to be true, and that there was nothing more alluring in this world than a secret shared by only two people. However, not every secret is supposed to remain a secret forever.
For some strange reason, that night when I heard soft knocking sounds on my bedroom door, a sense of foreboding came over me. I knew without a doubt, even before I opened my bedroom door, that none other than my precious sister would be standing on the other side.
"Dina..." I whispered her name softly as I tried to make out the expression she had on her face, given the lack of light.
Diana did not say anything, and that seemed to confirm my worst feelings about what was going on. After glancing up and down the hallway to confirm that no one was there to spot us, I quickly pulled Diana into my bedroom. Switching on the lights revealed a very distressed look on my sister’s face.
"What’s the matter?" I asked, without wanting to beat around the bush.
"Help me," my sister said in a shaky voice before a single tear rolled down her cheek.
"Help you? With what?" I asked with a mix of curiosity and confusion. Whatever it was that was bothering my sister was clearly something she couldn’t handle alone. At that moment, I decided that whatever it was, I was going to help her out.
"They found out," my sister whispered so softly that at first, I wasn’t sure if I had heard her correctly.
"Found out about what?" I asked, while feeling my impatience taking over. My sister must have been so shocked about whatever had happened because she was barely able to string words together into real sentences that I could understand. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Dina. What are you talking about? You’re not making any sense," I asked once again. Diana’s eyes seemed so unfocused, as if she was lost in her own thoughts and unable to process any words. Instinctively, I wrapped my arms around my sister and held her tightly. At that moment, it felt like she needed comforting, and it looked like she was scared.
"Take deep breaths and try to calm down. Remember that there isn’t any problem that we cannot solve if we work together," I reminded her comfortingly. I held Diana for a moment until her body stopped shaking in my arms. When she distanced herself away from me enough so that she could look straight into my eyes, I knew that she was ready to tell me whatever it was that was bothering her.
"Do you remember the guy I told you that I was dating?" she asked in a shaky voice.
"You mean the guy you never really told me about that you were dating?" I replied a little too curtly than I intended. The look of hurt that flashed across my sister’s face made me immediately regret my careless words.
"What about him? Are you ready to tell me who he is now?" I urged her to continue telling her story.
"It’s Mr. Malton..." Diana mumbled in a whisper.
"Mr. Malton? Why are you mentioning him?" I asked as I failed to connect the dots at first.
Instead of replying to my question, my sister just nodded her head solemnly as if to confirm that the ridiculous idea I had in my head was, in fact, the truth. Although it was supposed to be obvious, I found it very hard to believe that my sister was somehow romantically involved with one of our teachers. There were just so many things wrong with their relationship that I didn’t even know where to start or what to point out to her first.
"But... he’s our teacher," I said in a breathless whisper.
In my mind, when my sister decided to keep her relationship a secret from me, I had thought of many scenarios of Diana ending up dating the wrong guy. However, among all of those scenarios, I never would have imagined that the identity of her secret boyfriend would turn out to be one of our teachers. Granted, Mr. Malton is definitely popular with the girls, and it wasn’t surprising given his looks and how gentlemanly he always appeared.
Mr. Malton had a fan club of his own, and all the members were sworn to keep their paws off of him as if it was truly an option for a student to be dating a teacher at school in the very first place. I stared at my sister as the gravity of her words truly started to sink in. If there was a girl who would dare to break the rules, it would probably be my one and only twin sister. Suddenly, my entire face went numb because, with that realization, came with it another realization.
