...
Hinata leaned back against the wall, hands over his lips, as he studied his stats letter by letter.
’They’re a lot more different than what I thought.’
He had thought that, from his control over mana and how much he could currently use in his body, he had reached the same rank as Tamara, but that seemed not to be the case.
From the information he had gathered a few months ago, this world had the same ranking system for all classes.
Tamara had told him back then that he didn’t need to stress over all the ranks, only the first three. According to her and other rumours, it seemed each continent was divided into four major zones.
The wastelands, the outer zone, the inner zone, and the central plains.
Currently, Hinata was still in the wastelands, which was why he had never encountered anyone above expert rank.
In the outer zone, however, one could find someone two levels above expert. In the inner zone, one could find someone four levels above expert. In the central plains, one could find someone seven levels above expert, though the highest rank was scarce even there.
Hinata thanked lady luck again and again after he learned this information. If he had landed somewhere besides the wastelands, he doubted he could have survived a day.
’I guess peak Squire isn’t a bad growth for a year.’
After all, he had passed through the mid, high, and peak stages of Aspirant to enter Squire, even with the limited ascension energy in the wastelands.
Hinata’s gaze lifted a little, locking onto his newly evolved class: Sorcerer.
A smile crept up his face at the sight of it.
Tamara had told him before his training that awakened people sometimes underwent changes when ascending, since they needed to both absorb ascension energy and find enlightenment. Sometimes these changes were for good, and others for bad.
Through enlightenment, Hinata was able to do something no one had done before: create his own class, or rather evolve an already existing class into a better one.
This, however, changed the entire structure of his talent, since the sorcery class had to do with understanding.
Instead of evolving monsters singularly, he was now only able to evolve them as a group.
Humanoid for creatures that resembled humans, like goblins. Beasts for creatures that resembled normal beasts such as dire wolves, bears, and wyverns. Elementals for creatures who had the ability to control elements at a higher level.
There were also reptilian, undead, demon-kin, and mythic beasts.
The reason he had such an enlightenment was because he realised that, instead of being an over-versatile fighter with no direction, it was better to have one concentrated path to power.
Now, instead of going around looking for a race to hunt or forgetting about it entirely, he could just focus on his seven new talent classes.
Hinata shut his eyes, absorbing all the information.
’With my current strength I could possibly take on a mid or even peak expert.’
Even though Hinata was still at Peak Squire, he still had an ability at the peak of Humanoid monster evolution. Although he couldn’t use it to the fullest now because of his rank restriction, it was still something extra in his arsenal.
Hinata opened his eyes slowly and clicked on Mr. Devourer. Soon a new dark golden status panel flickered in front of him.
[Tier Seven (Evolved) Item: Mr. Devourer]
[Description: You can absorb and create anything. Whatever you absorb shall form a new attribute which you can stack onto anything you create.]
[Amount of attributes that can be absorbed at current rank: 5/11]
...
Hinata’s fist clenched by his side. The evolved slime king was really something to celebrate. If he could absorb anything, then that meant he could steal body constitutions or special energies from others and make use of them himself.
With excited fingers he tapped on the new ability: Witcher.
[Ability: Witcher]
[Description: You are the master of all elements you completely understand. The more you understand an element, the more freely you can manipulate it. The only cost is your mental health and mana.]
[Current Elements: Shadow (low), Smoke (low), Lightning (low).]
Hinata didn’t comment on the Witcher ability since he had already guessed it. If Humanoids gave deceiving and reality-warping abilities, then it was safe to assume that Elementals would give something related to the elements.
He raised his eyes to the ability he had saved for last. Closing his hands and blowing air into them as though he were freezing, he tapped on the upgraded version of the Fool.
[Ability: The Fool]
[Description: The world is your playground. Why bother training when anything you desire can be brought into existence, so long as you understand it and possess enough points? These points are earned from others believing falsehoods about you, whether praise or slander. Truth twisted into rumour by those who unknowingly play the fool shall become power for you.]
[Current fool points: 100]
[The Fool’s Calculator]
Hinata’s face lit up instantly as he jumped to his feet. "This is broken as hell!"
Instead of sitting back down, he started moving towards the entrance of the cave. ’I have to test it.’
It wasn’t a matter of just reading it. He had to see it in action.
As he tapped the Fool calculator, a status panel appeared, its display showing a voice speaker symbol.
’So it’s a voice over feature.’
Hinata smirked as he picked up a tree branch and coated it in mana, crystallising it around the branch to make it look like a purple lightsaber.
This skill, mana crystallisation, was exclusive to experts, but it seemed he could use it at Squire.
Stepping out of the cave, the sun hit his face harshly, causing him to squint.
The forest he was currently in was eerily familiar.
"I guess I’m back where I started, huh?"
But this time he wasn’t the powerless kid getting beaten around.
He was stronger now—more confident.
Plus, he could bend reality now.
Ding!
[What would you like to calculate, user?]
"How much does it cost to get X-ray vision?"
[Calculating cost...]
