Hinata froze. His head whipped to the side as he caught a glimpse of the system’s message.

"Hey, system, you aren’t trying to fool me, right?" He turned to his side and summoned Goku. The moment the dragon appeared, he asked, "Goku, I think your brother wants to scam me."

Goku stared at him for a long moment. "He isn’t my brother, and why would the system want to scam you?"

Hinata pointed at the numbers and sighed deeply.

"An ultimate sign-in system..." he murmured hesitantly.

The small floating dragon facepalmed. "Why would you ask for something like that?"

Hinata furrowed his brows into a deep frown. "It said I can get anything, so why not a sign-in system."

Before Goku could respond, Hinata suddenly turned back to the system.

"Hey, scammer," he said, his voice calm and low. "Can you send me back home?"

The entire forest fell completely quiet as the system loaded its response. Hinata felt an unexpected cold sweat trickle down his spine.

Hinata remained silent even after seeing this. His hands clenched at his sides.

When he turned his head, Goku wore a stunned expression that he soon masked with a smile. "Congratulations, Hina... I guess."

"You couldn’t help but say that last part, could you?"

Goku laughed. "Well, I guess I don’t want you to leave. Won’t it be fun if you become a god and we stay together forever."

"That sounds gay, man."

"I’m not a man though."

Staring at the bold words, Hinata felt something strange besides happiness stir in his chest.

Seeing the long numbers written on the system panel, Hinata felt relief for some reason.

He raised his cold hands and stared at them. ’What the hell’s wrong with me?’

He quickly shook off the thought and turned to Goku, who smirked.

"What’s with that expression?"

Goku burst into a hearty chuckle that filled the quiet forest. Without warning, he rushed toward Hinata’s chest. "I knew you loved me all along~! All that nonchalant was just an act~"

Hinata tried to pry the dragon away from his chest, but the creature’s fingers curled tightly around his shirt. "Get off me, you pesky dragon!"

Goku finally pulled away after some time. He puffed out his smooth black dragon cheeks ever so slightly. "Hina loves me so much~" He waved his hand in front of Hinata. "I know I’m cool and all, but you shouldn’t blatantly show you are obsessed with me~ I might just get creeped out lol~" he said, giggling like a madman.

Hinata let out an exhausted breath, his fingers massaging the bridge of his nose. ’What did I get myself into?’

Glancing around, he decided to clear his head by killing some monsters.

The forest was so silent that one could hear a pin drop. Dried fallen tree branches and leaves crunched underfoot as he made his way deeper into the forest.

He passed the area where he and Albedo had fought to where the goblin village was, but there was nothing.

Honestly, it was not completely weird that no monsters appeared. The problem, however, was that even the remnants of the goblin village had completely vanished.

"What the hell happened here?"

Goku, who sat atop Hinata’s shoulder, tilted his head from left to right. "Maybe plunderers or bandits took them?"

Hinata’s face scrunched up, eyes narrowing on the empty cleared land.

It was not just the valuables. Every single thing in the village had been taken away, leaving only a large clear empty piece of land.

’Could someone be trying to build a house here?’ He quickly shook his head. ’No, that isn’t possible.’

Even if it was a guild or a mercenary headquarters, there was no way they would build it near a monster-infested place. Yet seeing that all the monsters in the forest were cleared out, it was not an implausible possibility.

Seeing no need to investigate any further, Hinata moved towards the mountain that once faced the goblin village and began searching the area.

It was around this time that a loud sound like a woman screaming rang through the narrow canyon.

Hinata paused, then glanced at Goku, who seemed to have heard the scream as well.

One second passed, then another passed before a second scream rang out, this time from a man.

Hinata immediately rushed into the canyon. Using Mr. Devourer, he created a black kimono suit that looked as if it was made out of wisps of black energy.

Hinata cut it off with a raise of his hand. He did not need it to tell him how expensive that would be. The name alone sounded costly.

Confirming the ability actually worked, he suppressed his mana and increased his speed.

He knew all too well that this was not rational at all, nor did it add anything to his life. Still, he felt that if he did not go, he would regret it later.

’Goku, enter your spirit form and go scout ahead.’

The dragon immediately rushed forward, though its form did not change much in Hinata’s eyes.

The scream tore through the canyon again, making Hinata grit his teeth and increase his pace. This time, however, he actually heard what the scream said.

Hinata immediately felt an eerie weight wash over him as if someone incredibly powerful stared down at him from above.

Cold sweat ran down his entire body. His vision suddenly tunneled.

That was when the words of the creepy scream entered his ears again.
