Chapter 32: Live Streamed Session

Hours had passed, and the Outliers were now deep within the forest.

Cohen and his party were ahead of all other parties, aside from Stein’s.

Their movements weren’t just coordinated—they were practiced, efficient, almost instinctive.

Cohen used his Perception of Gray and information received from Bobby to guide the party towards their prey.

The monsters here were mostly uncommon-tier boar-type creatures, ranging from levels 13–16, with occasional encounters with other species.

Each member proved capable under Dax’s leadership, excelling in their respective roles.

Dax was even able to hold down the monsters he aggroed without the weight of a shield and sword.

Abaraham handled Dax’s flank, knocking back monsters to prevent his friend from being surrounded.

Dana and Scot both attacked with Dax, taking down the monsters he held down in a few strikes.

Maya was a force of concentrated destruction.

She stood at the back lines of the party, shooting at other monsters that tried to sneak up on the party or monsters within range that were directly approaching the group.

Cohen also stood at the back line, giving the group a clear awareness of their surroundings.

Hide, the small ram, stood at Dax’s other flank, contributing little for now.

The current positioning allowed the party to level up, something Cohen wanted for his party so they could handle their coming conflict.

But Cohen’s focus wasn’t on the hunt. His attention lingered on the other Outliers, quietly abusing the reach of his Perception.

Nox was also let out, using its natural ability to blend into the darkness to conceal itself here.

Even if the officials could sense a nearby strong monster, Nox was capable of departing with Null Step before they locked in on it.

As the session progressed, Cohen turned to a certain direction in the deep forest.

In the distance, a tree crashed down with a loud bang.

The sound alone carried—a blunt, violent shockwave that didn’t belong in a controlled hunt.

Dust rose into the air as that party moved forward, destruction trailing behind them.

’Damn... I have to say, that guy’s destruction power is beyond anything I can muster with even a concentration of Null Aura,’ Cohen mused.

It was Stein that had punched a level 18 boar, blowing a circle through the large beast’s body.

’But it’s all because of that Red Energy. Yet, he doesn’t seem to be losing control. My instincts are telling me that for some reason he can handle that energy very well.

’Even Amad isn’t using his own Red Energy.’

While Cohen reacted to Stein’s heavy punch, Awakened of the spire who were watching the hunt on their devices were commenting too.

"And they expect us to believe this group is normal? That’s not something a level 12 should be capable of."

"I guess a new Spire is born."

"Low-key though, that big guy is stealing everyone’s thunder. All the Outliers are better than their level suggests!"

"Right? See that guy in that second party for example, he’s at level 12 too."

"I hear that guy was just lucky enough to find strange beasts to tame."

"Actually? I heard he has a backer that’s giving him monsters to just tame. Can’t you see how he’s just standing behind his group? I think he’s one of those reliant on his beasts."

"Well, he’s giving that blue-haired girl and their spearhead the opportunity to shine, so you can say he’s doing something. Hahahaha!"

"This is exciting to watch! I wonder if the words that an Outlier will go berserk would be proven true today."

.....

In a university lecture room, all the students were also on a city wide break that stretched across the period of the Outlier’s session.

Ceha sat away from people, seriously concentrating on the screen where her brother was on.

Her priority had turned from wanting to watch Cohen hunt to being concerned about her brother.

That was because Cohen wore a serious look, constantly running his hand through his hair.

She could tell—something was wrong.

"Cohen... What is the need for such serious planning right now."

At that moment, she saw Cohen suddenly crank his head towards another direction of the forest.

He murmured something but before Ceha could guess what he said, she heard other students murmurs increase.

"Look at section 5, there are a lot of monsters there!"

Ceha heaved a sigh. "Man... just be safe."

Cohen’s party was reaching an extent where the number of monsters were thinning.

’Anytime now...’

Just as the thought crossed Cohen’s mind, he felt a call from Bobby.

"That’s it," he muttered.

Cohen turned to his party that was almost done handling the last range of monsters.

’I need them behind me.’

With that in mind, Null Aura increased the strength of Cohen’s body as well as the effectiveness of his twin daggers.

His patience snapped into action.

In the blink of an eye, Cohen was a blur across the deep forest.

He threw his first dagger at the eye of a boar Abaraham was holding down.

The dagger stabbed into its eye, drawing a pained growl—then Cohen followed through, slicing cleanly through its thick neck.

Without saying a word, Cohen was already where Dax, Dana and Scot were fighting five boars.

What had been a slow domination of the beasts, Cohen weaved through the five, cutting their legs, sides, neck, and eyes.

He didn’t move like a scout anymore—he moved like a finisher.

The next moment, the five monsters were down.

Hide also went all out and rammed into the head of a Boar it kept at bay, popping its head completely.

While the others looked at Cohen with strange eyes, he turned to look at the range where Maya was shooting at.

There were four monkey creatures, throwing rocks and sharpened sticks at the party.

He felt the urge to kill them as soon as possible, leaving Null Aura to completely flow into his arm and dagger.

He took in a deep breath and predicted their jump paths.

He pulled his hand back and threw his dagger, letting it fly through the air with a whistling sound.

It cleanly passed through a monkey’s neck, before swiftly flying back into Cohen’s hand.

He drew his other arm back and threw the other dagger, repeating the same kill.

Without wasting time, he recalled the dagger and threw it again, bringing down the third.

Before Cohen could attack the fourth, a concentrated blast of blue plasma shot forward.

The entire tree crown was destroyed with the monkey’s corpse.

Maya lowered her bow, shooting Cohen a brief glance.

’How competitive,’ Cohen thought.

"Dax, do you sense it?" He asked.

Dax, now out of combat, could feel a distant irritation. His face squeezed.

"We need to go," Cohen said to the group, turning around.

Feeling Cohen’s sense of urgency and seeing Dax follow him, the group, although confused, followed behind.

In a part of the forest.

Dozens of monsters were attracted here.

Two men, the vanguard and a damage dealer, had red veins and bloodshot eyes.

They were rampaging through the gathering beasts, cutting them down while blatantly taking damage themselves.

The remaining three members of the party had retreated, being the logical decision.

But they stood at the edge, frowning as they watched the brutal scene.

The monsters completely circled the two, like a wave about to descend.

Yet the duo was growling and roaring, attacking wildly and hurling monsters around–sometimes even toward where their own party members stood.

Something was wrong. This wasn’t recklessness–it was loss of control.

"John, Ger, leave there!" a lady yelled at them. "Y-you’ll die!"

But the duo turned to her, directly throwing a boar at the lady with large power.

The lady wasn’t a fighting main, so her other party members had to come in to stop the attack.

They failed to stop it as the boar threw both of them back.

The red-veined men continued their fight against the wave, their definite end coming.

But at that moment, two small rifts appeared in the air, shooting rocks at the wave of beasts.

The rifts closed and opened elsewhere, pouring out a rain of rock.

The monsters were being repressed, but there were still many.

Until The Priest dropped.

And the battlefield shifted.
