Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 106—Plan taking Shape
"Before that time, I had been noticing some kids missing from our groups of orphans bit by bit."
Everyone in the circle was already privy to the fact that Laura was taking care of a group of orphans, so there was no confusion.
"I decided to inform one of the settlement leaders about it, but his response was extremely nonchalant."
"It felt extremely unusual, so I had to begin further investigation."
"I stopped going to report and began keeping a closer eye on things."
"And then one night, I discovered something."
Laura paused when she explained up until this point, her voice carrying a hint of sadness.
"I saw two guards carrying two children away from where we stay."
"I made it to avoid detection and followed behind them; they went down to the underground and eventually met up with others."
"In the group they met were the so-called Leaders and three men dressed in extremely dark cloaks."
"But I wasn’t careful enough; one of those men discovered my presence quickly."
"Realizing that, I quickly turned around and ran as fast as I could to the settlement and escaped into the underground with the other orphans."
"Does that explain it?" Laura asked the group.
The three nodded while deep in thought as they tried to digest the long explanation Laura just made.
"The most important piece of information we have now is that they usually meet underground," Cole said out loud.
The others nodded in agreement to his words, their faces displaying true excitement.
"One step closer again,"
"I can’t be away for too long, so I must return very soon. I can only answer one more question," Laura said.
The group was disappointed by that point as they exchanged looks, trying to decide the next question to ask.
"Can you take us to where they met?" Cole finally asked.
Again Laura looked extremely reluctant, but as if she were being reminded of something, she quickly nodded.
"Let’s head there tonight; we might find something important," she said.
The teammates had no reason to refute any lead they had that could help them solve the mission; it was extremely important.
The moment they were done with finalizing the tiny details, Laura left the room, refusing any escort from anybody there.
Now that they were alone, the teammates could now focus on Cole’s part of the morning.
He had been out to get more information, so they were expecting him to have something. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Cole also didn’t leave his teammates waiting for too long; he quickly downloaded everything he found out that day to them.
Now the three of them were stuck in quite a bit of a turning point.
"They have quite a lot of information gathered from multiple sources, and now was the time to use all of this to find the perfect plan.
But all of that was easier said than done. Creating a full plan from such disjointed information was quite hard.
But Cole’s mind had already come up with a little embryonic form of a plan.
"Guys, I have a bit of a plan that can help us achieve our goals."
"Our main mission is to rescue the missing kids, so that should be the priority now,"
"Bryan, we will still need to rely on your tracking ability."
Bryan was shocked to hear that since he thought it was impossible for them to do that again.
But seeing the conviction on Cole’s face, he knew he was serious.
"Now we will be doing it like this," Cole began.
He spent quite some time telling his teammates the skeleton of the plan he had in mind.
Despite it being nothing but a skeleton for now, it was enough for them to work with.
"Linda, are you sure it is possible for you to do that?" Cole asked again at the end.
"Stop doubting me, you bastard, do you think members of the Brussell family are just for show?"
"We are a very strong Spiriters family, just so you know."
Now that they had a general direction they had to face for growth, the air grew much lighter.
The team could have a chance to joke a little.
The past few days have been hectic for them. Cole hadn’t even had the time to practice with what he wanted to do.
There were two reasons for that development.
Cole himself and due to all of the events. Cole himself was a factor because that day he spent training and had taught him something.
Without any catalyst, there’s no way he could achieve that thing anytime soon.
"Why is it so hard," Cole thought.
He looked at his teammates that had moved to different areas to cultivate again with a serious face.
Almost the same thought was running across the two people’s minds as they cultivated.
"Cole had been the one doing so much on this mission, and now I have something important I need to do."
"I must do my best and try to be in the perfect state for that,"
"I must not be a burden to others."
If Cole could hear the thoughts that were running through his teammates’ minds. He would just smile and think they were being silly.
But he couldn’t, so after observing for a while, he also sat in the lotus position to cultivate.
Since the group had arrived here, they had been cultivating a lot, but the progress they had made was nothing compared to what they would have made if they were in the academy, but they didn’t mind.
The day went by in the blink of an eye, and soon, it was nighttime again.
The group has spent about five days here in the slums, and only now are they getting close to achieving their goal.
When nighttime arrived, the team of three stopped their cultivation and prepared themselves, awaiting Laura’s presence.
Knock! Knock!
They suddenly heard the door; they didn’t bother asking who it was; they just rushed to the entrance expecting to see Laura standing by the door.
Upon opening the door, the trio immediately froze upon seeing who was there, especially Cole.
"Shit" was the only thing ringing in his mind.
