Chapter 104: Chapter 104—Conclusions

Cole looked at the scattered room. All of their things were spewed all around.

"What the hell happened here?" Cole thought.

He knew it wasn’t possible that they came here by chance; things didn’t work like that.

"Whoever did this was obviously targeting us; it isn’t in any way by chance."

"But who exactly?"

"Could it be members of the slums that were spies or Micheal’s men themselves that came to ambush us?"

Cole walked into the room to observe it on a much closer scale. He checked through the things and the arrangements of everything.

From his observation, Cole canceled out one of those options.

"They came specifically searching for something, not to attack us."

"But what could it be?" Cole stood stiff in his position while thinking.

"Oh my Gosh, Cole, you are back," A voice sounded from behind him.

"Yeah, Bryan, I am back, what the hell happened here?" He asked.

Linda fully walked into the room, looking at Cole with a slightly annoyed face.

"Where have you been?" she asked.

"Don’t you know we would be very worried?"

"Worried why?" Cole asked.

"So stupid," Linda muttered. "What were we supposed to think when you were nowhere to be found and the room looks like this?"

"Uhhh, why didn’t Bryan just use his ability to find me?"

"Do you think we didn’t try?"

"I couldn’t sense you at all for some weird reason," Bryan said.

Now it was Cole’s turn to be confused. From Bryan’s expression, it seems like he had never experienced it before.

"How long ago was that," Cole asked while trying to confirm a suspicion.

"Uhmm, it was about an hour ago, but I was able to sense you again about thirty minutes ago."

Those words immediately confirmed Cole’s thoughts.

"He couldn’t see me when I was in the slums underground."

"But why?"

Cole thought hard about it, but he just couldn’t get any resolute answer to that question.

"Let’s forget about that for now and try to understand what is actually going on here." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Who came in here to scatter everything?"

The two of them unknowingly turned to Bryan expecting an answer from him.

"How am I supposed to know? Am I psychic?" He said slightly frustratedly.

"Hahaha, we can’t tell, you have such weird abilities that I thought you might know."

"Sad to break it to you, but I don’t," he spat out.

After that small moment to ease the air, the three of them went ahead to start picking things up and cleaning the room.

They finished that quickly and settled down to exchange information and make plans for the next day like they usually do.

"I am sorry, Cole, but we couldn’t find her," Linda said apologetically.

But Cole just smiled.

"No need to worry, I found her," Cole said smugly.

"Really?" Bryan asked.

"And that isn’t even the most shocking part of all of my discoveries today."

Linda and Bryan exchanged looks of shock before quickly turning back to look at Cole.

"Spill it quickly," they urged.

Seeing his teammates grow anxious, Cole felt a layer of excitement, but he soon calmed down and prepared to begin.

The trio maintained a serious face and position while two of them listened to him as attentively as possible.

After about one hour of continuous speaking and responding to questions, Cole had successfully transferred all of his gathered information to them.

"Things have really grown complex," Linda said tiredly.

"Strings and knots just keep popping up all around."

"From that Dark Hauted House, to Michael, to people of the slums, to the People of the settlement, now that girl."

"Everything just seems to be tying up into an extremely difficult knot, or what do you think?" She said while turning to look at Bryan.

"Yeah, it is really complicated... but what I am wondering is how would the academy give such a Mission to us puny first years?"

The other two also realized that point and also went into deep thoughts.

"If you really think about it, it doesn’t make sense," Linda said.

"I guess we will have to ask about it when we get back. For now we need to save those kids," Cole said resolutely.

"The first step for now is to decide on which questions we need to ask to get as much information as possible."

"True, true, let’s do that," the others responded.

"Firstly then, I think we should ask her what exactly made her leave the settlement."

"Cause for it to let her leave, then it must be a fairly serious scenario."

"If we can know that scenario, then we will get much more information."

"Uhmmm, I don’t really agree. I think we should ask her if she knows where the hideout is directly."

Cole was taken aback by these words, but he saw Bryan’s stance.

"If she knew, then I don’t think she would have told us," Cole said.

"There’s no need to argue about anything; we can just ask the two it isn’t like there’s a limit to the number of questions."

"Ohh damn, that’s true."

They continued to decide one at a time on questions to ask for a while more until they felt satisfied.

After that, the three of them proceeded to go cultivate separately until morning came.

The sun was just beginning to rise when Cole stood up again.

He got himself dressed in normal slum clothes and said to his teammates.

"I will be going to meet with that man that was left at that building."

The others nodded quietly, signifying their approval, and were immeasurable after Cole left the room.

Cole walked for a little while before getting to the rendezvous point.

He had intentionally chosen somewhere close enough and far enough from where they are staying for different situations.

By the time he got there, the man was nowhere to be found, so Cole had to wait patiently.

He found a spot to sit in the low-end bar in the slums, waiting for the man to arrive.

Just like he expected, the man arrived very soon.

"Boss, boss, I have big, big news," the man said the moment he spotted Cole.
